"Go mbeannai Dia oraibh"?
Hello there - I was wondering if I could double-check a tiny blessing I was hoping to give two Irish friends for their wedding (the fools have asked me to speak at it). You see I'm blessed to live here too, but quiiite a protestant bit ("Those protestants, up to no good as usual") and there aren't many fluent Irish speakers I can ask in person.
Through a combination of translation sites and combing through videos online, I think "May God bless you both" might translate as "Go mbeannai Dia oraibh", which I'd (presumably butcher) pronounce as Guh mann-ee Djia ur-uth. Is that incorrect?
Making an arse of myself wouldn't be a new sensation by any means, but for their sake I'd love to get it right!
Thank you, and have a nice week 👍
Edit: Sorry, I've just looked at other posts and seen the suggested thing is to post over at r/Gaeilge - apologies for poor etiquette!
