I recently created a little nighttime routine that seems to help my phone a lot.

When night falls, I open it, clean it with hypoallergenic products, and lay it flat on a velvet blanket so I don’t scratch it.

Sometimes I gently massage the hinges for a few minutes to help keep the inner screen protector stretched properly.

After that, I cover it with a piece of gauze. I don’t cover the whole phone — I leave about an inch of the speaker area exposed so it can breathe and doesn’t “suffocate,” while still keeping it protected from humidity.
Finally, I put it inside a wooden box with a lid and store it in the closet.
The idea is to isolate it from any light exposure and let it “rest” properly overnight.
So… what’s your nighttime routine?

I’m interested in adding a few more steps to my routine. Maybe some kind of hinge moisturizer or a small humidifier?

Hey everyone,
I’m having a quick question about my Z Fold8 Ultra hinge. On day one, the inner screen unfolded completely 180° flat. Fast forward about 10 days, I noticed yesterday that it no longer opens all the way - it stops just short at around 178° to 179°.
If I apply a bit of gentle force to push it back, or if I just open it and use it for a few minutes, it eventually flattens out on its own.
Is this normal? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experience - are any of your Z Fold8 Ultra units doing the same thing? Thanks!

I live in the American Gardens Building on W. 81st Street on the 11th floor. My morning routine is built around control, clarity, and absolute crease containment. I touch the nightstand at 6:00AM, but I do not immediately approach my device. Before interacting with my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, I do 1,000 stomach crunches. If my core is unstable, my grip pressure will vary, and varying grip pressure introduces uneven kinetic stress to the armor aluminum frame.

Once my hands are thoroughly scrubbed with an anti-static, non-ionic surfactant solution, I remove the Fold 8 from its climate-controlled, pressurized hardwood humidor. The ambient humidity is locked at precisely 42.5% to maintain structural elasticity in the ultra-thin glass without compromising the hydrophobic hinge seals.

I never open the phone immediately. First, I use a carbon fiber dust-blower to clear the perimeter of the hinge, removing any microscopic particles that might scratch the vacuum-deposited protective coating. In the shower, I use a water-activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Meanwhile, the Fold rests on a suspended, magnetic levitation dock, safe from the acoustic vibrations of the running water.

After the shower, I prepare the device for its unfolding sequence. I apply a water-free, hypoallergenic silicone polymer to my fingertips to eliminate friction. I gently unfold the inner screen at a steady angular velocity of 12 degrees per second. Anything faster risks microscopic shearing of the protective polymers.

Once open, I do not use my bare skin on the screen. I apply an invisible, ultra-thin, nano-crystalline liquid barrier that completely shields the screen from oleic acids without altering the 144Hz refresh rate. Then I apply an anti-aging, UV-blocking clear coat to the outer hinge assembly to prevent microscopic disfigurement from sunlight exposure.

There is an idea of a Galaxy Z Fold 8; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply cannot tolerate a single scratch or crease.

I'm still using the Fold 5 today; would it be okay to use it as my primary phone? To be precise, my dad gave me the Fold 5 when he upgrades from it to the Fold 7 in 2025 🙂

Honestly, I liked the 12MP output just because how spectacular it looks when it comes to dynamic range and contrast, but 50MP is noticeably better when it comes to details. (3rd pic is from the first two images, not digital zoom)

I just had a random question pop into my head as I'm laying in bed playing with my new ZF8U, and this is my first flip phone, after having a bar phone since I could ever remember, and I absolutely love this thing. When I open the phone, I'm greeted with this huge display and it's just so gorgeous. So I'm wondering if anyone can ever go back to using a bar phone or just simply tired of flip phone and wanna go back to a bar phone? I'm genuinely curious lol

I’m thinking about switching from my S24 Ultra to the Z Fold 8 Ultra, but I’m worried the larger screen might feel exciting at first and then barely get used like mine Spen.

Please be honest: how often do you unfold yours, what do you mainly use the larger screen for, and do you think you could go back to a regular phone?

Tent mode. The fold 8 is my third folding phone and I don't know why I haven't used it before, maybe girth?

I use tent for literally most of the day.

Want an alarm clock? Tent mode; little monitor i had by my pc for Spotify? Tent mode. Sitting on my side table, but want to see and respond to notifications? Tent mode.

I'm a long-time Galaxy S Ultra user and decided to make the switch to the Fold 8 Ultra, accepting some of the trade-offs that come with it: IP48, the weaker zoom, lack of a vapor chamber (or vaporware chamber, apparently), etc.

My Fold arrives tomorrow, and naturally I've now started having second thoughts. I'm curious if there are people here who recently switched from an S Ultra, particularly the S25 Ultra or S26 Ultra (or really any S series Ultra), to either the Fold 8 or Fold 8 Ultra. How are you feeling about the switch now that you've actually lived with it for a while?

I'm especially interested in the things you noticed in day-to-day use that don't necessarily come across in reviews. Do you miss the cameras? Does the inner display actually change how you use your phone, or does the novelty wear off? Any durability or usability annoyances? Thermal issues, especially when using outdoors (compared to the S Ultra)?

I'm still feeling pretty good about the purchase, but since I'm still within the window where I can change my mind and go back to an S Ultra, I figured this was a good time to hear from people who have already made the jump.

Just got my armor air case the other day for the fold 8. And noticed the top was warped. Figured for $110 this case needed to be immaculate and planned on returning to Amazon. However today the top got stuck on my pocket and just came off partially which also removed the double sided tape from the side of the case and left it stuck to my phone. No matter how I may try I couldn't get the case to fit back onto the phone normally so I just took off the front and left the back on. So be weary if you're buying this case. Everyone was initially praising this case however it is by far not worth the $110 price point.

This is by no means a super intensive review but more of an initial impression for both cases for normal use. I have been using the Spigen case for about 4 days, and I just got my Nillkin case this morning.

Overall build quality: They feel pretty much the same quality wise, the Spigen case is about 2mm bulkier but Nillkin's case stays more true to the shape of the Fold 8, it is more minimalistic. Spigen gets an extra point for the linked front and back cover design (Nillkin case is a two-piece case).

Hinge protector design: I payed extra attention to the hinge protection due to all the horror stories I heard about damages caused by friction. Spigen's hinge protector is hinged and spring loaded, it has a small curvature on it so no material is touching the hinge on the phone, and the tension rests nicely on the edge of the front cover (i also heard there should be a cloth-like material on the inside of the hinge protector but mine is just bare plastic).

Nillkin's hinge protector has no hinge/spring, it relies on a thin strip of magnet to stick to the hinge on the phone when closed.

Neither of the protector rubs against the hinge when I unfold the phone, Spigen has no contact and the hinge gets pulled down and away from the magnet when I open the phone.

Grip: Spigen case feels a lot more slippery than the Nillkin case. Spigen has the etchings on the spine, Nillkin has them on the other side below the power button and the back of the case.

I will be sticking with the Nillkin case from now on and keep the Spigen as a back up. The Spigen screen protector fits the Spigen case almost perfectly (borders on the Spigen case is a lot thicker), whereas there are noticeable gaps between the case and the screen protector after swapping to the Nillkin case. Spigen screen protector is super finger print resistant and feels very smooth to the touch as well.

I heard Nillkin sells screen protectors that fit the case better but I couldn't find it on Amazon and I don't want to buy just a screen protector straight from their website. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Kept my cameras aside for a few days and went full steam with the Z Fold 8 - yes yes, I get all the comments about how Samsung dropped the ball with the cameras and how the lack of telephoto is a deal breaker, so on and so forth.

I'll let some samples do the talking, a mix of main camera, ultrawide and digital zooms ranging from 4 to 10X.

My conclusion is that folks should go out and shoot and form their own impressions, the digital crop performance is surprisingly good, I know Samsung is doing a lot of software trickery, but end of the day, it doesn't detract much from the experience. I've shot over 10k photos on the Z Fold 7, and I'm not missing the telephoto, and the downgrade on the main camera is not significant either.

This time I tried customizing my lock screen, and it’s actually way easier to set up than I expected!!!!

1. First, set the regular/static image as your lock screen wallpaper.

2. Go to Modes and Routines in Settings.

3. Create a new routine.

4. For If, choose something like Charging status → Charging.

5. For Then, go to Lock screen and AOD → Change lock screen wallpaper, and select the short video!

(I translated the menu names from Korean, so the exact wording might be a little different on your phone 😭)

I followed the YouTube video linked here, and if you check out the creator’s page, they also have tons of other wallpaper/video sets besides Doraemon, like Dragon Ball, Mario, and more!!

Had the phone for a year, the Fold 7, wondering if anybody has been getting holes in their pockets due to its sharp corners? I had to stitch my pockets at least 3 times (3 different pants) because of this phone. Anyone getting this or just me? Maybe my pants are too cheap 😂

Have ya guys traded in a phone for the 8 & got contacted by Samsung that they were going to reduce it or send it back? If so how’d that go? Can you just swap the trade in phone?

I got the DBrand grip case for my fold 8 (wide) and have been looking for a good controller for it to play games with but everyone ive looked into seem to have problems due to that hinge protector, has anyone found one that works around it? preferably magnetic but no sweat if its just some clamp

This is just the first day and I'll keep tweaking and learning, but so far I love it.

The only thing that still isn't working is live wallpapers, but no biggie.

Just loving how clean and different this is to my usual.

I Just recognized that the right Side of the inner Screen ist way brighter then the left one. It's only really visible when the Phone ist Set to a low brightness.

Does anyone have the Same issue?
