Buddy of mine bought a pro just for GTA and hasn't even opened it yet. But even at 30, pssr and the GPU will give better resolution and (probably)RT than base PS5
20
u/CULTLEADERTV 14h ago
I just can’t imagine putting so much effort into caring about this. I’m a gamer, not a spec junkie.
5
u/LengthInevitable6442 13h ago
I'm both, but don't make enough money to spend 900$ for a single game😂, just for how much my buddy makes he bought a m3 max MacBook just to use as his dedicated iTunes music streamer🤦

I grew up on nes>snes>ps1>ps2 and by 12 I was PC. Until my mid 20s everything I had was frankensteined to hell. 640x480 on a crt was at least like 3-4 years for me. Didn't miss out on shit.

We are definitely at the point of diminishing returns. Not that there isn't progress always being made, but rather it's becoming less and less impressive/noticable
1
u/Ok_Insurance_505 2h ago
There's no probably about it, games on it have looked significantly better since launch Generally while giving double the frame rate. With PSSR being even better there's zero doubt it'll look way better.
1
u/BakeJaldino 11h ago
Tell him to sell it and buy a PC bro.
Or wait for PS6 so he can buy the ‘enhanced’ edition that runs at 40fps.

u/Truama-vix4 9h ago
At that point its better just getting a speced up pc and waiting for it to release there. I for one wont be updating my ps5 or buying it. No disk no buy:3
1
u/CULTLEADERTV 8h ago
I’m not spending any funds on a PC ever.
I’ll be collecting physical until it becomes too expensive and welcoming in the PS6 with a already fist pumpin’ wad of cash.
3
u/Metadoggo 10h ago
Yeah, my friend and I were talking about how cool Dawn Walker looked and not once did the specs it will run come into play lol
I remember when you got a game cause it looked cool not because your hardware ran it at peak optimization

Not once in 35 years in an exceptionally enjoyable life of gaming across all platforms have I ever thought about any of this shit.

u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
Well it will look better on pro, higher res. If you sitting close AF to your TV you will definetly notice difference between 1440p with some kind of FSR on basic ps5 and 4k with PSSR on pro.
4
u/Firecracker048 14h ago
Yeah absolutely. I just hope the base ps5 doesn't look like shit.
10
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
26-minute "GTA 6 Extended Look: was captured on basic ps5, runing 1440/30 with stable frame rate you can check Digital Foundry tech analys.
-7
u/Firecracker048 14h ago
I did see it but as always, the previews and such tend to be a bit better than what is released. See watch dogs and cyberpunk
8
u/Frost-Folk 14h ago
See watch dogs and cyberpunk
Right... Which famously weren't captured on the console hardware that they struggled on.
2
u/TooTallTabz 13h ago
Watchdogs had crazy issues on PC. I never ran into any of that on PS3, but I guess that doesn't mean there weren't any bugs on the PS3 version I just never ran into them. I went YEARS not knowing how buggy the game was for people. My roommate had to pull up some YouTube videos of the bugs. That shit was nuts, and it kept me from ever touching a PC.
2
u/Low_Ad2142 7h ago
Neither of those games claimed to be captured on the consoles of the time on top of that they don't have the reputation of Rockstar, all of their pre-release footage of past games pretty much look like the final product
1
u/HeartInTheSun9 9h ago
People just say stuff at this point. Those weren’t the lessons to take from watch dogs and cyberpunk.
1
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
Rockstar has no reason to deceive people, now most studios have realized that lying in the marketing backfires, and they specifically showed the game on the most popular platform, soon we will see videos from pro as well.
0
u/Firecracker048 14h ago
They don't and I hope they aren't. Outside of CDPR, there just hasn't been a lot of good will out of the industry
1
u/RomanBangs 9h ago
Bruh you literally just said Cyberpunk had better previews than what was actually released lol. CDPR isn’t exactly one of the good ones.
0
-1
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
I skipped Cyberpunk only cz of CDPR, they are full of shit. I made a refund of cyberpunk on PS4, and never bought or pirated it on PS5-PC.
I have confidence in rockstar and soon we will know whether I am right or wrong-1
u/Firecracker048 14h ago
The cyberpunk release was an all time disaster but they've more than made up for it with all progress there and all the stuff they are doing with witcher. They've reearned it
0
u/grillarinobacon 12h ago
No they haven't, they promised things that still aren't in the game, theyve NEVER had a good launch and if you think rockstar crunch is bad don't even look at them.

I would argue that oled is also a minimum these days, had one for the last 5 years and cant fi back to lcd
1
u/Low_Ad2142 7h ago
I don't really think there's a minimum size for a TV it really depends on the size of the space you're putting it in, LG makes some great 42 inch oleds

that’s not what actual gamers care about tho lol they want a good game that plays smooth
6
u/SolidusRevolver 14h ago

1
2
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
Ye but most people are sure that game gonna be awesome, some people just need to whine about something and they chose 30fps as the reason :) While some tech specialists was sure its gonna be 30fs even few years ago.
2
u/CircumcisedCats 14h ago
For multiplayer yeah. Nobody cares about the fps of a singleplayer game.
4
u/Alrightyl0l 14h ago
On base ps4/x1 gta5 worked fine at 30 fps in multiplayer. And people even got lots of fun on ps360 with 25-30fps.

u/the_axemurmurer 14h ago
Sell your PS5 in a year, upgrade your GPU and play on PC at 60fps.
3
u/Addamall 12h ago
Well that’s my plan anyway. Or if ram keeps on doubling in price every few months I’ll just stop gaming.
1
u/the_axemurmurer 12h ago
Hopefully we'll start to see prices come down by then, but it could also take a lot longer. When this price bubble pops, it's still not going down anywhere near where it used to be. My 1080Ti still has plenty of fight left in her. I guess we'll see.
2
u/TheTinderVanMan 13h ago
When it get released in late 2027.
1
u/the_axemurmurer 13h ago edited 12h ago
That is a year from now, yes.
Assuming the exclusivity contract with Sony brings it to that release window.1
u/yan030 12h ago
How is it exclusive to Sony if it release on Xbox lol
1
u/BakeJaldino 11h ago
Tbh - it is a Sony deal that keeps the game console exclusive.
Xbox would have the game Play Naywhere if they could as it benefits their ecosystem… and Rockstar would release on all platforms as it benefits their balance sheet.
But Sony strikes up a marketing deal with GTA in order to shift systems… that’s why the marketing has ‘Captured on PS5’ plastered all over it… Sony have paid for that…. Handsomely… in exchange for timed console exclusivity and no mention of Xbox anywhere near marketing.
1
u/JedsGamingAdventure 34m ago edited 27m ago
It's releasing on XBOX Series X/S on November 19, same day as PS5.
Sony has exclusive marketing deals with Rockstar so they could market GTA VI as a PlayStation showcase title. Both PS5 and XSX get it the exact same day.
However this is correct for GTA III and older GTA games - it was a timed PS2 exclusive, OG Xbox got it years afterward
0
u/the_axemurmurer 12h ago
Lol I forgot about Xbox tbh. The staggering sales approach makes everyone a lot more money regardless.

2
u/McDouble__ 13h ago
Sell my PS5 and spend thousands on a pc to the play same game with better frames?
Harrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd pass lol
1
u/the_axemurmurer 13h ago
I'm just saying that if you care about 60fps, that's the only way you can until the PS6 comes out.
People generally won't build a PC just for GTA 6 next year. I was mostly aiming this at existing PC gamers that have been putting off a GPU upgrade since the industry started hitting the AI crack pipe years ago.I'm still on a 1080Ti going on a decade at this point and still play everything just fine. I will probably play GTA 6 when it releases on PC and I do not care about 60fps.
1
u/Some_Employment_2503 10h ago
"Upgrading GPU" dude do you think everybody has pc and what about CPU,DRAM,SSD and MOTHERBOARD
1
u/the_axemurmurer 7h ago
Obviously, if you don't have a gaming PC, then my statement doesn't really apply to you, but it's generally a better investment than a console. It's more expensive on the front end, but I've saved more than that just on games since the last time I upgraded my rig.
That said, if you just want a machine that runs GTA 6 at 60fps, just wait until '28/'29 or the PS6.
1
4
u/CoherentRose7 9h ago
Ill buy it when it comes to PC and it's on a super discount. No way in fuck am I about to pay $80-$100 for any video game, bunch less the base game with nothing extra.
2
u/neroslayer 14h ago
I would think if there's stuff like frame drops or pop ins on base consoles, the pro version may not see that or it might happen a lot less.
2
u/pathof_sexile 14h ago
I tried to play Wukong on my PS5 Pro and compared it to someone with a PS5 and it effectively was not different on any of the settings. Except for on quality where the PS5 Pro actually got worse performance somehow.

u/Dolomitexp 13h ago

I also bought a pro for gta 6 difference is I bought it a year ago so I couldn’t know. But it will still look somewhat better and I got to play some amazing games on the pro like rebirth, tlou2, kcd2 etc. so for me it’s worth it

60fps for the Pro isn’t off the table just yet. They’ve been working on it and while it could simply not happen, it could also either make for launch or post launch. I’m sure Rockstar can pull it off.

Can someone provide any evidence of R* talking about the performance of GTA6 on PS5 pro?
1
1
u/AFourEyedGeek 6h ago
Looks like the PS5 Pro is going to be the most powerful PlayStation with a disc drive. So, PS4 and PS5 disc games are going to look their best on the Pro. I don't have a Pro myself, but I've considered it because I have a good salary and the much of the upscaling on the PS5 looks crap.

u/Greggs-the-bakers 4h ago
I'll buy it when it comes out on pc. Until then I really dont care about the game. Its ridiculous they are still pulling this shit in 2026, banking on people to double dip and buy multiple copies by staggering the release dates.
Also 30fps should honestly be seen as unacceptable in this day and age. Its so fucking terrible to look at
1
u/haroldflower27 4h ago
There’s no way it will actually thrill eventually optimize it
Otherwise I could see a potential false advertisement claim (on Sonys part, they sell a console promising more power and capability, yet if no company makes games for it then what’s the point of that advertising?)
1
u/Skullfurious 4h ago
I'll play it on PC. No interest in a game running at 30 fps of all things in 2026.

why do all the pc fans care so much about it being 60 fps? does it really matter what a games frame rate is, as long as it's playable at the frame rate it has?

You can already hear the dumbasses who know nothing about the technical aspects of the Pro vs base bragging to their buddies about how much better it runs on the pro, only to realize the minimal detail differences.
3
u/Sargy93 14h ago
I mean one can already read your dumbass comment after Rockstar explicitly said that they don't know about the Pro version yet.
1
-1
u/JohnPiccolo 14h ago
You can keep coping that you wasted money on a pro that it’s going to be spectacularly better on the pro. 30 fps is official regardless of console especially when the pro has the same weak cpu as the base when compared to the Series X.
4
u/Sargy93 13h ago
Why are you so upset? How do you know I wasted money? I love playing games for 30 years now, so I got the console anyways way before GTA and it was already well worth it.
No one said it would be spectacularly better lol. But the 40fps option isn't off the table yet. Especially with PSSR2 at a lower resolution and upscaled 40 FPS mode would be possible.
Don't act like you know better.
-1
u/JohnPiccolo 10h ago
Who said I’m upset, I find it hilarious that people are blindly wasting money on a pro for hopes and dreams. 30 FPS is locked on consoles just like last gen and is officially confirmed, again stop coping. If that wasn’t the case why wouldn’t they showcase it on the pro at 40fps hmm? I bought a series X back when they were still in the $400 range and I own a FE 5090 I got for MSRP day of launch, I’m just chilling. Consoles suck ass and their price point reflects that so stop coping you’re going to get anything more than 30 and go buy a pc if you want 60.
2
u/Sargy93 10h ago
My friend, you care way too much about other peoples decisions. That's not healthy.
3
u/Odd_drum 9h ago
I was gonna say. Nobody sane says “stop coping” that often. I made my purchase without GTA 6 in mind, and I’m still very happy with the improvements. My brother with a $2,500 PC was even giving it some props.
Plus, this is a different topic, people don’t ever seem to include the better lighting options in pro enhanced games. It’s not just better resolution you’re getting, spiderman 2 with the experimental lighting looks insane
1
u/bzawk 11h ago
Bought the pro on launch, unfortunately I lost it in a house fire, but the few months I had with it were great. Some games were better than others on it for sure. But really what you get with it is performance mode fps and fidelity mode graphics. Now idk if GTA 6 is going to be pro enhanced but it’d be cool if it was for the people who do have a pro.

Yet y'all played Red Dead Redemption 2 for 10 years and loved it and it's locked at 30 frames per second.
You people really have no understanding of hardware capabilities and rendering physics. You could suck God's dick, but Xbox series X and the PS5 are never going to be able to run GTA 6 at 60 frames per second. Climb out of your own ass.
0
u/alwaysonesteptoofar 14h ago
Dude, its an extra like $300, not $3000 so i dont get the big deal about someone having the extra cash getting the Pro. Sure its weird to upgrade just for GTA but at the same time the Pro is better, even if just by a little, and even more important is thst it has double the storage. And in the year I've owned one the only people that consistently talk about pro being better seems to be the people who dont have one.
At this point I am hoping that they do drop a significantly better experience on the pro, not because it will benefit me but because I NEED to hear what you guys will complain about then haha. This is honestly worse than the last 25 years of listening to Playstation vs Xbox fan boys, at least they were arguing about brands.

u/outrage_suck6494 14h ago
Dense open world, better NPC AI, more simulations running on the back
Something harder or near impossible, to patch in 2 years later instead of 60 fps for ps6 or pc port.
Not like any of rockstar games before were 30fps because they prioritized the core game right?
1
u/TheSholvaJaffa 14h ago
Added a /s to my previous post because it may be hard to tell that it was sarcasm haha
But I've played all the GTAs from previous generations at 30 FPS. I grew up on PS1, PS2 and PS3. I was just barely old enough to buy GTA V on my own when it launched on PS3. It was odd to experience it at higher than 30 FPS on PC a decade later.
I will still very much enjoy GTA VI at 30 FPS because it's just what GTA is. Our brains wouldn't be able to tell the difference with a game as fresh as this because we haven't seen footage of it at 60 FPS anyway. People will get over it as long as they aren't stubborn and won't stay hyper aware about the FPS.
1
u/uponhisdarkthrone 14h ago
I agree with most of this, except people not being able to notice the difference between 30 and 60fps. That just isnt true, objectively.
1
u/TheSholvaJaffa 13h ago
Well you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a game that never ran 60fps before is what I was trying to say. I never do until I try it (if it's available). The immersion will usually take over.
But everyone is different I guess. I'm usually fine playing VR even at 30 FPS if I'm in such a laggy environment.
2
u/uponhisdarkthrone 11h ago
I get what you are saying, I can tell if a game is running at 60 or 30, but most games I play run at 30 and I just don't care, I'm fine with 30fps.
I get more annoyed with the blurryness around hair and moving objects in games since I started noticing it. Has to do with antialiasing or some shit?

u/KrangledMind 14h ago

Why should they? They can market 60fps as a next gen consoles feature and get you to buy the game again for it. They'd make more money that way.

I don't understand the point in biying the Pro to begin with.
You want a slightly better version of the same console, that plays the same games but just maaaaybe 10% "better", to then be outclassed a couple years later by the next generation of consoles, and rhe cycle starts again.
Why waste $700+ solely on just a slightly "better" experience?
