I just got these marigolds at Lowe’s and planted them in my garden. What is this? Is it normal growth or is it some sort of fungus or bug eggs?

I posted this originally in tree trimming. But maybe you guys can help me get these peach trees looking better and control the fruit output

It's been a few days, the current age is 16 days since sown, 13 days since soil breech.

I moved back to Oklahoma about fourteen years ago. Most summers, I remember a handful of days over 100. This year we've had 31 days 100+ in the past month and a half. It hit 110.
This is causing odd things to happen. One friend is losing watermelons to fire ants drilling into them. Others have abandoned okra plants entirely because fire ants are inside the pods and all over all the plants. And they had so many plants!
Maybe the fire ants are seeking moisture and putting out shallow trays of water might keep them from this destructive behavior?
Has anyone ever seen or heard about these things before?
