Desperate IP, need help

I’ve been on a surrogacy journey with Guidance Surrogacy for about 18 months, and I’m trying to decide whether I should continue with my current surrogate and agency or start over with a new surrogate/agency.

There have been significant delays throughout the process. For example, it took about four months for the surrogate to have her IUD removed so she could complete medical clearance. There have also been scheduling conflicts related to her job and other medical issues.

After 18 months, we’ve only had:
One embryo transfer cycle that was terminated because her uterine lining was too thin.

One miscarriage of a euploid embryo. The pregnancy lasted less than two weeks, and the cause is not known yet.

We were planning to start the mock cycle next month.

Now both my agency contract and surrogacy contract are about to expire, and the agency is asking for an additional fee to continue/extend the arrangement.

Given the amount of time that has passed, the significant delays, the limited progress, and the failed transfer/miscarriage, I’m struggling with whether it makes sense to continue or cut my losses and look for a new surrogate.

Are the delays I’ve experienced within the normal range, or is this a red flag with the agency ?

Agency Recommendations

Upvotes

Hi! My husband from Central Europe are currently looking into surrogacy abroad.

We are still at an early stage and are currently looking at different countries and agencies. Before contacting too many agencies directly, we would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually gone through the process themselves.

Is there an agency you would genuinely recommend?
Thanks! :)

Intended Father Seeking Independent Gestational Carrier — Northeast US

Upvotes

**Intended Father Seeking Independent Gestational Carrier — Northeast US**
Hi! I’m a single intended father in the Northeast looking to connect directly with a wonderful gestational carrier for an **independent surrogacy journey**.
I’m already well along in the process: my embryos have been created and genetically tested, my fertility team is established, and independent escrow is being funded. I’m ready to move forward as soon as I find the right person.
I’m hoping to find someone who:
Lives in **NY, NJ, CT, MA, PA or elsewhere in the Northeast**
Has had at least one healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery
Is healthy and meets standard gestational-carrier medical requirements
Is a nonsmoker and lives in a stable, supportive environment
Is comfortable completing independent medical and psychological screening
Ideally has previously completed a successful surrogacy journey, although this isn’t required
This would be a **fully compensated, professionally supported independent journey**. You would have your own independent attorney, medical screening through my fertility team, psychological screening, insurance review, and professionally managed independent escrow.
I’m looking for more than simply finding someone who meets the medical criteria. I’d really like to find a GC with whom I have a comfortable, respectful relationship throughout the pregnancy and beyond.
If you’re considering becoming a gestational carrier—or you’re an experienced GC interested in another journey—I’d love to hear from you. Please send me a private message and tell me a little about yourself, your location and your pregnancy/surrogacy experience.
**No agencies or agency solicitations, please. Direct GC inquiries only.**

Surrogacy Agency scam

I hired VSN Vermont Surrogacy Agency that advertised through MHB. They assigned a surrogate which did not work out after few months. She was essentially making her own decisions including canceling her insurance a month or two before embryo transfer and was mentally not very stable and making demands. The agency was not there to supervise. I ended the relationship with the surrogate per my attorney’s advice. The agency refused to match me again even though the contract says I should be matched at least three times. She took close 70k and just sent one sentence email and said contract ends. She refused to refund any amount. What course of action would you take? I’ve completely lost faith in these agencies which are there just to make money out of gay folks! A nightmare!

Embryo transfer to Colombia blocked due to the donor's missing karyotype, any suggestions?

My partner and I embarked on a surrogacy journey in Canada three years ago. After waiting over a year to be matched with a surrogate, we unfortunately suffered two failures.

We were fortunate that IVF had given us 10 embryos. To avoid waiting another year for a new surrogate and considering the costs we had already incurred in Canada, we looked for another country to continue our journey, and after several recommendations, we turned to Colombia.

After thorough research to find a Colombian clinic and agency, we were finally ready to transfer our embryos from Canada to Colombia. But, true to the saying that bad news never comes alone, we were just informed that the transfer is now blocked because we are missing the donor's karyotype, a test that has been mandatory for importing embryos from abroad since September 2025.

We are unable to reach the donor, and we are heartbroken by this latest obstacle blocking our dream of starting a family.

Do you know anyone who is in or has been in a similar situation, and do you know how they were able to resolve it?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

Tammuz Family sued by client — then hits back with a much larger claim

Case 60077-10-24 was filed at the Tel Aviv District Court on 30 Oct 2024 and is classified as a contractual dispute.

A client is seeking ILS 439,358 from Tammuz Family. In response, Tammuz has filed a counterclaim for ILS 835,739.43 — almost twice the amount being claimed against the company. The case remains open.

In other words, a client who took the agency to court is now facing an even larger financial claim from Tammuz itself.

For a company operating in such a sensitive and high-stakes field, this raises serious questions about how it treats clients who challenge it.

Intended parents place enormous trust, money and emotional investment in surrogacy agencies. They should be able to raise concerns and assert their contractual rights without feeling intimidated by the prospect of a substantial counterclaim.

Anyone considering Tammuz Family should be aware of this case before signing a contract or transferring significant sums of money.

Meeting Donor

I’m curious how important it is to meet the donor either on zoom or in person. Ours is a known donor however she doesn’t want to meet via zoom but is willing to email. Just curious if others had a similar experience and what the pros and cons are.

Difficult Embryo Transfer Decision

Hey All,

My husband and I are fathers to a beautiful 3 month old girl, and we are talking with the agency about getting the process started for the second. We are trying to do the sibling journey, where we each have embryos from the same egg donor, so the kids will be genetically half siblings.

He went first and now we are taking about transferring one of mine, but there is a complication. I have a genetic disorder. At the start, there was a chance I'd have some embryos that don't have it, but we've done the tests and they all do.

Now I've lived with this disorder my whole life, some days it's a minor inconvenience and doesn't affect me at all, other days it can be more limiting. I live a full happy life though. I'm just kind of stuck. We could just choose to transfer another of my husband's embryos and not have to worry about this. It's just tough because it wasn't the family we envisioned and it felt meaningful that each of us would be a genetic contributor.

It would be hard to look in my kid's eyes and tell them I choose for them to have this because of something that I wanted for me. At the same time, we all have gifts and struggles right?

I'm looking for some alternate perspectives. Have any of you been here? What did you do?

If you did end up transferring one from each of you, do you think it would feel any different today if both kids were from your partner?

I love my daughter and I've no doubt I'll love the next kid no matter what. That doesn't make the decision any easier though. Thanks for any experiences or advice you can share.

New dads, anti anxiety and low libido?

My husband and I are currently in the thick of it with a 1 y/o. He is amazing but we are exhausted, sleep deprived and constantly snapping at each other. The only thing that had been working for us over the last few months was sex - lots of really good sex.

Now hubby has started Lexapro. I'm glad he is sleeping better and claims to be less anxious but the sex life has gone to nothing. Not looking for advice, just venting and wondering if others have experienced anything similar?

Day in the life

Would you guys actually watch something like this?
I’ve been thinking about starting a TikTok doing “day in the life” type videos, not really influencer-y or anything, just me going about my life as a gay single dad living in rural America. Work, parenting, getting back into fitness, traveling when I can, random everyday stuff, how I became a gay day, etc.

I wouldn’t show or post my son at all. It would really just be about my perspective and what it’s like being a gay dad in a pretty rural/conservative area.

Would that be something you’d actually be interested in watching? Or is “day in the life of a gay dad in rural America” not really that interesting? 😂

surrogacy journey in Colombia

I'm about to start a surrogacy journey in Colombia and will be creating embryos very soon. Like many others, I've been following the recent news about the proposed bill that would ban surrogacy in Colombia.

I've done a lot of reading, spoken with my agency, and followed discussions here and elsewhere. What I'm hearing is mixed:

  • Some people say similar bills have been introduced in the past and never passed.
  • Others say this proposal is different and should be taken seriously.
  • Some lawyers and agencies seem to believe that even in a worst-case scenario, legislation would take a long time to become law and would not apply retroactively.
  • Others point out that Colombia already has legal uncertainty because there is no comprehensive surrogacy law.

My understanding is that:

  • Surrogacy is currently still possible in Colombia.
  • A bill has been proposed, but it is not law.
  • Legislative processes can take significant time.
  • No one can guarantee that nothing will change in the future.

I'd love to hear from other people here.

A few specific questions:

  1. How concerned are you personally about the current bill?
  2. Have your lawyers or agencies given you any guidance regarding ongoing or future cases?

I'm not looking for political arguments. I'm mainly interested in hearing real experiences and practical perspectives from people directly involved in the process.

Thanks! 🙏

Is Colombia about to ban surrogacy? What intended parents need to know

Thumbnail camara.gov.co

Colombia is currently considering new legislation that could significantly restrict or even completely ban surrogacy.

On 22 July 2026, proposal 052/2026C was introduced in Congress. It aims to ban commercial surrogacy, along with related mediation, recruitment and advertising.

Then, on 13 August 2026, a second proposal, 215/2026C, was introduced. This goes even further and seeks to ban surrogacy altogether.

Neither proposal has become law yet, but these developments are already creating significant uncertainty for intended parents who are currently going through the process.

One of the biggest concerns is what could happen to families who have already signed contracts and paid agencies and clinics in Colombia if the law changes before their journey is completed.

The current proposals also do not appear to provide any clear guarantees that ongoing cases or the rights of intended parents already in the process would be protected by transitional arrangements.

If the legislation moves forward, any new law is currently expected to come into force no earlier than autumn 2027.

Senate Bill 729 in California IVF

Hi intended parents in CA! Have you tried using your insurance for IVF and surrogacy process? It looks like per Senate Bill 729 mandate, some costs of IVF should be covered for same sex couples. Has anyone gone this route? How much did you still have to pay out of pocket?

What Did You Actually Pay for Your Surrogacy Journey?

Hi everyone! I asked this in another group, but the moderator removed my post. It’s genuinely something I’ve been wondering about, since not all agencies show the full cost upfront.
If you’re comfortable sharing, how much did your agency quote you for the surrogacy program, and how much did you actually end up paying in total? Even a general range would be really helpful. Thank you!

Tammuz Family

As far as I understand, my coordinator has never visited the clinic where my surrogacy process is taking place. I find this really concerning. It doesn’t feel particularly reassuring or professional, especially from an agency handling something as important and sensitive as a surrogacy journey.

For those of you who are also going through a surrogacy process with Tammuz Family, have you had similar experiences with your coordinator?

Dads, what’s the funniest assumption someone has made about your family? 😂

Maybe someone spent five minutes trying to work out which one of you was “the dad.” Asked where mum was or assumed you were brothers. Or your kid had to step in and explain the whole situation because the adults just weren’t getting it. Sometimes you just have to laugh.

What’s the best one you’ve had?

Sibling journey vs doing surrogacy one child at a time?

Hi everyone, I’d be really interested to hear from other gay dads/IPs who have faced this decision.

We’re currently creating embryos and know that we ultimately want two children. We’re considering whether to do a sibling journey in parallel/close together, or have our first child and then come back for a second journey later.

The big advantage of doing both close together seems to be getting the whole surrogacy process done in one period of our lives. Our journey is abroad, so potentially we could travel out once and stay until both babies are able to come home, rather than going through the international travel, logistics and disruption all over again a couple of years later. Given that we already know we want two, there’s something appealing about just getting it all done.

On the other hand, the timings obviously might not line up neatly. One transfer could work immediately and the other could take several attempts, so what starts as doing both “at once” could potentially mean being abroad for much longer than expected. We’d also be leaving our home and, importantly, our dog back in the UK, so an extended and unpredictable stay abroad would create quite a lot of additional admin and worry.

There’s also the question of whether having two babies very close together makes the first couple of years unnecessarily intense, versus having a gap and being able to enjoy each stage separately.

For anyone who knew from the outset that they wanted two children, what did you decide and, with hindsight, would you make the same decision again?

Particularly interested in hearing from people who did their journeys internationally. Did doing sibling journeys close together actually make things easier overall, or did the uncertainty around timing make it more stressful?
