The person saying this might as well say the following instead because that’s all it means:
I am too immature and ignorant to actually even attempt to reply with logic and evidence to disprove what you are saying.
I can’t come up with a single coherent fact to negate what is being said.
I don’t want to face reality because it’s so hard. I would rather be a victim and blame everyone else as to why I can’t have everything I expect right now.
I don’t have to do anything different than what I’m doing.
I don’t want to take responsibility for my life. But I still expect all the things.
You just don’t uNDerStAnD!
I think this makes me sound so clever. I’m really telling that old person off.
I just find this so humorous that people feel so clever when saying this. It’s hilarious.
I’m not even a boomer. I’m Gen X so I really don’t care if this is how people choose to live. Keep whining and see where that gets you.
Every single generation has had difficulties previous generations didn’t. And they have also had many benefits previous generations never even dreamed of.
So instead of whining ok, boomer, go figure out how to make it work. Whatever life is, it’s up to you to make it work.
There are people buying houses every single day. There are people getting hired every single day. There are people working jobs they don’t want while looking and training for the ones they do. There are people starting businesses every single day. There are people finding a way to make things work. Right now. In this economy. In this reality. Every single day.
Is it easy? Probably not for most people. And that could be said for any generation that has ever existed. And if it were truly easier in some previous generation so the fuck what. Does that mean the current generation should be given something because of it.
I’ll never understand it. Whine and complain. Shut down anyone who might have lived longer than you and learned from it and therefore might actually have something to say that you could benefit from. But that would require personal responsibility that so many people simply don’t want to take. And yet at the same time expect all the things to come anyway.
If you want something, work for it.
How can this be taken any other way than solid advice as to how reality works?
Does that mean you are guaranteed to get whatever that something is? No, because that’s just life. There are no guarantees. Is there any better way of getting a life you want that is actually based on reality and not some utopian fantasy?
Do some people get things handed to them. Of course. In every generation this is true. Do some work hard and not get what they expected. Of course. In every generation this is true. Does bad luck, health crisis, disasters, and every damn thing else play into this? Of course it does, just as it has every other generation.
Does that mean just give up? And then complain because your life isn’t giving you all you deserve?
So go ahead and say ok, boomer. Or talk about my privilege. Or my inability to understand life is hard.
Or that life now is different than when I was younger. Like, no shit, Sherlock.
Who is more out of touch with reality? Those that whine and complain and blame and still expect things or those that actually spend that energy working toward what they want? No matter what the reality of life actually is at any given time.
