Hey, I suffer with PTSD and addiction. I was homeless and thankfully I have had the blessing of my brother to let me live with an in-law. But I can't find a job at all. I have been trying and looking for months with no luck and it makes me feel awful. The only time I somehow find money is for gas or weed. I don't do anything but stay being a pathetic unemployed druggie loser.

I want a career in genuinely anything. I am a great writer and I have read lots of books about philosophy. I know basic coding and how to navigate technology. I know how to play piano, bass, and guitar. I can also paint, draw digitally, and I am so great with kids. I am used to being a server so I am great in customer service.

I’m 30 years old, married, Egyptian, and currently living and working in Saudi Arabia. I have a valid Iqama and Saudi driving licence.

I have a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, but my career has become very mixed. I’ve worked across sales, B2B, administrative work, paperwork, and business-related roles, while also having the medical/scientific foundation from pharmacy.

I feel like a “jack of all trades, master of none.”

I’m very tech-savvy, learn quickly, and I’m good at researching difficult problems and finding answers. If I don’t know how to do something, I don’t shy away from asking, researching, and teaching myself. I have interests across technology, medicine, business, sales, operations, and other areas, and I would probably describe myself as somewhat of a polymath.

My weakness is networking and relationship-building.

I’m fairly introverted and quiet. I’m not naturally good at small talk, networking, or building and maintaining professional relationships. I can communicate professionally when there is a clear purpose, but casual networking does not come naturally to me and I sometimes struggle with social anxiety.

This has become a major problem in Saudi Arabia because, from my experience, getting a decent job here often depends heavily on knowing the right people and having a strong network.

I have applied to a large number of jobs and have never received a serious callback or landed a single interview.

LinkedIn has also become frustrating for me. A lot of job postings seem to go nowhere, and I became tired of the performative side of the platform: constant self-promotion, motivational posts, corporate language, and trying to appear enthusiastic about everything. I eventually deleted my LinkedIn profile because I couldn’t keep pretending to enjoy that environment.

I realize deleting LinkedIn may have hurt my job search, but at this point I genuinely don’t know how to get another job.

There is another issue that is difficult to talk about.

As an Egyptian expat in Saudi Arabia, I have personally felt that some employers see Egyptians as cheaper labor and expect more work for less money. I have experienced expectations around working late, being available outside normal business hours, answering calls after hours, and generally accepting conditions that I don’t think would be considered reasonable for everyone.

I don’t want this post to become a nationality debate. I’m only explaining how the job market has felt from my position and why I feel trapped.

Financially, I cannot afford to make a reckless move.

I have no meaningful savings. My current salary barely covers our essential expenses. My wife is currently unemployed, and finding work as an expat can be difficult for her as well.

I hate my current job, but quitting without another job lined up is not an option. I cannot afford even a short period without income.

Going back to Egypt is also not a realistic solution for me. The economic situation there would make things even more difficult for us, so I need to find a way forward while remaining employed in Saudi Arabia.

My absolute minimum acceptable salary is around SAR 10,000/month. Ideally, I want to eventually reach SAR 15,000+ and build a stable corporate career with real salary progression.

The career paths I’ve been considering include:

* B2B Sales / Sales Executive

* Business Development

* Sales Development Representative (SDR)

* Key Account Management

* Medical / Pharmaceutical Sales

* Healthcare commercial roles

* Commercial Operations

* Customer Success / Account Management

* SaaS / Technology Sales

* Possibly something else that combines healthcare, business, technology, research, and problem-solving

My biggest fear is choosing the wrong path and wasting more years.

At 30, I don’t want to keep moving between unrelated jobs until my CV becomes impossible to explain. I want to choose one direction, become genuinely good at it, develop valuable skills, and build a career that employers are willing to pay for.

I’m also realistic that I cannot simply stop working and retrain full-time. Any career transition has to happen while I remain employed.

So I would really appreciate practical advice, especially from people familiar with Saudi Arabia or the GCC job market.

If you were in my position:

1. Which career path would you commit to for the next 3–5 years?

2. Would you leverage the B.Pharm and pursue pharmaceutical/medical sales, or move fully toward B2B/business development?

3. Would Key Account Management be a better long-term path?

4. Is SaaS/technology sales realistic without formal technology experience?

5. Which of my existing skills are genuinely valuable and transferable?

6. What certifications or skills would give me the highest return over the next 6–12 months?

7. How should I structure my CV so that my mixed experience looks like an advantage instead of making me look unfocused?

I’m not really looking for “follow your passion” advice.

I need something practical: job availability, income stability, salary progression, transferable skills, barriers for expats, and a realistic path from where I am today.

I’m exhausted, increasingly desperate, and at my wit’s end. I know I need to change something, but because I have a wife depending on my income and no financial cushion, I cannot afford to make the wrong move.

If anyone has been through a similar situation — especially another expat in Saudi/GCC, someone who changed careers around 30, or someone working in pharmaceutical sales, B2B sales, SaaS, business development, or key account management — I would really value your perspective.

For context I am a 19 (M) who has been working at this company for 3 years on an apprenticeship course, I gained 2 qualifications, with the important one being a level 4 improvement specialist / lean six sigma green belt, I have worked on big projects on site and learned almost everything.

My apprenticeship is coming to a close in October and after having many meetings about it the only job they’re willing to offer me is a basic operating job where I’d be on 12 hour 2 day- 2 nights with 4 days off (6am-6pm, 6pm-6am) I have tried these last year for a couple months as part of a project I was working on with someone and they killed me, I struggled to sleep and socialise etc.. I have just under £20k in savings/ a little invested and live at home.

I am personally very against accepting this job and believe if I was to go home I could spend that time at the gym/ more time to learn online about money/ investing and applying to jobs which I already am(with a few possible interviews)

What would someone with more experience/ similar experience to me recommend? Because I can’t find any sane reason to stay.

I’ve spent the last 8ish years in client facing roles within the industry but as I’ve come to understand the inner workings more intimately, I’ve developed a disdain for advertising at large.

It also doesn’t help that ad tech, much like every other tech, is quite vulnerable to AI enforced layoffs.

The issue is that retail media is all I’ve ever known and don’t really have a network outside of it. I am confident my client facing skills will be transferable but I’m not sure how to position myself in the market or even approach this.

Hey guys, short story ; I am from India and graduate from 2024 in CS , i made a mistake that time and started with business in 2024 which did not turned well and left with a lot of debts and had to quit in oct 2025

Post that I am still struggling to land a job and get an opportunity, i got one 4 months back : It was oversees from US where a guy wanted me to to be his client acquisition expert. We talked more and realised his company is not even company and idea and he offered me equity and becasue i had no opportunity i took the bait, i did my part of work with complete honesty and what not : even framed the ideas, the positioning, the product, how and which product that has to be sold and what not.

The guy was doing job too and wanted to hop on a google meet every day 3 PM ( CET ) and I did without breaking, only on last friday I was not able to come up on meet as I was genuinely ill ( heavy fever and blood coughs ) and what i realise is that he has removed me from everywhere, my name from website, me from linkedin like everywhere and blocked me off ( i had these signals a bit ahead too but i never was able to judge better ). I feel so so bad that i can't even tell

But the bigger problem for me is that i am 26 months unemployed, i am not getting any job due to market and now i am as fresh as new ; i started looking for opportunities on reddit but all i am getting is Commission only work ( which i am super scared off like i cant even tell )

I want one genuine advice : what would you do if you were me, from where should i start and get work that pay even small base but pays, what would you have done

P.s : i feel so so bad that i don't even have money to put in any channel, i have nothing as if my whole life i have been doing nothing and this stress is eating me from inside

Putting this out here because I’m actively looking for a new opportunity, either full-time or part-time, in Indirect Tax, Tax Technology, or Tax Transformation.
A little about me:
I have 8 years of experience across indirect tax compliance, litigation, advisory, and reconciliations, with experience at Big 4 and Fortune 500 companies.
I’ve worked on APAC and EMEA VAT/GST compliance and hold a B.Com and Master’s in Commerce.
I’ve also been experimenting with AI-assisted tax tools and automation using modified/synthetic data because, well, confidential tax data and public AI tools aren’t exactly best friends. 😅
I’ve built a few small tools/automations around reconciliations, notice tracking, validations, and controls. I’m now looking for an opportunity where I can combine my tax experience with technology instead of spending the next 8 years becoming exceptionally good at moving numbers between Excel files.
My last CTC was ₹24 LPA.

I’m genuinely curious about something. It’s been years since I’ve been in this position, and since I broke my leg, I’ve been applying to just about every job I can find.

I’ve been getting interviews, and when I’m there, I feel like I’m doing a good job and answering the questions the best I can. But then I often don’t hear back from the employers.

At this point, I’m honestly wondering: Am I doing something wrong in my interviews, or is this just part of the job-search process?
