Unable to delete account due to error

I have full access to my GitHub account, but every time I try to delete it I get this error: "Cannot delete account. Please contact support."

Fair enough, so I contact them through ticket support, and I get ignored for several days. Email privacy, automated response and nothing. I just emailed dpo, but I have low hopes.

How else can I reach them? Has anyone had a similar issue? I don't have any outstanding bill, nor an ongoing subscription, nor can I identify any issue that would cause this. As a last resort I might file a complaint with the data protection agency of my country.

man that's the classic github support experience right there, ticket goes into the void and you're just stuck refreshing your inbox hoping for a human

i had something similar a couple years back where it wouldn't let me change the primary email, kept erroring out with no explanation, support took 11 days to reply and by then i'd already found a workaround through some obscure settings page

since you already emailed dpo that's probably your best shot, they tend to respond faster when data protection gets mentioned, if that fails the complaint route you mentioned is actually the nuclear option that usually works, regulators reaching out tends to wake them up real quick

might also be worth tweeting at them publicly, some companies hate bad optics and suddenly become very helpful when everyone can see you're being ignored
