I got these the other day from Costco Optical and noticed that these marks appear when the lenses get foggy. I can’t see the marks when wearing the glasses or when the lenses are clean and not foggy, but I’m not sure if this is bad to be looking through when I wear them or if it’s not a problem at all. I’ve tried some of the things from similar posts here to get rid of the marks but they won’t go away.

Curious what everyone thinks my prescription is at first glance? First pair is a bit stronger and newer.

Yes, i know i put my face into AI, but i never use it, and I dont plan on using it soon. I digress, I have brown ones, i think they look good, but the blues ones are cool too (pun intended).

i spent all summer running outdoors and got tired of heavy frames bouncing on my nose bridge and slipping off as soon as i started sweating. i tried picking up cheap wire frames but they bent out of shape in my gym bag almost immediately. i need to find the best lightweight sunglasses that use flexible frame materials without feeling fragile or cheap.

most performance shades look way too technical to wear when i am just walking around town or grabbing coffee with friends. looking for recommendations for sunglasses for athletic activities and streetwear that can handle sweat during a workout but still look natural with everyday casual outfits. i want something with the most durable sunglasses frames that wont snap if they get dropped on pavement or tossed around in a backpack.

I was looking at my prescription and got confused at what these numbers are supposed to be. I would like to know if 63.00 is my pd? If it’s not, what does these numbers mean and do they tell me what my pd is?

What is the point of polycarbonate being indestructible if it’s going to scratch? Like if my lenses fall off they won’t break but they would scratch way easier than other material?

I bought a pair of glasses back in April with Zeiss ClearView BlueGuard DuraVision Platinum lenses. I wanted high durability and scratch resistance so I decided for Zeiss.

Fast forward to August (about 4.5 months of use), and I’ve already noticed two small scratches/micro-cracks on the lenses—one near the outer edge and another right in the center of my field of vision.

I’ve been extremely careful with them. I only clean them using the official Zeiss spray kit, lens wipes, and the provided microfiber cloth. I don't use paper towels or my shirt, yet these marks still appeared, which is pretty frustrating given the price.

Is this normal for DuraVision Platinum?

How long do Zeiss lenses usually last before showing signs of wear?

Okay so two days ago I got my first pair of glasses. A couple of months ago I got a concussion that whacked out my vision. I have a really hard time switching focus from something close to my face to far away. To help with my chronic headaches from the concussion and the eye issues, I am getting neurolens and my doctor also gave me a very small reading prescription in the form of progressive lenses to help with adjustment from close to far. I have never had trouble reading before and have never had glasses. I received my glasses and am having a lot of trouble.
Putting on the glasses, I am having a great increase in headaches which I know will most likely go away with time, but on top of my already terrible constant headaches, is really rough. Also, because of the prescription/progressive lenses literally two thirds of the lens (I measured lol) is completely blurry when I am just looking around normally. I know that part I will get used to, but honestly I don’t really want to. It seems like I am giving up half of my vision just to have better transition, which is honestly for a first time glasses wearer is terrible. I do not need the prescription to read at all, so it just feels like a pain. I am not sure if this will truly help me in the long run. I am going to try them for the 2 weeks they say you need to get used to them, but the headaches/fishbowl effect from the neurolens and the blurry vision from the prescription is rough. I honestly want advice on if this seems worth it and I really wanted a place to rant. Thanks!

Will Costco put lenses in frames that came from another retailer? I've heard it can be hit or miss. I got a pair of glasses from Costco almost 3 months ago and I've gone back for adjustments like 7 times, but the glasses either keep sliding off my nose, or they hurt my ears. I have to take them off from time to time to give my ears a rest. Before I got this pair, I got a pair of computer progressives made at Clarkson Eyecare using some Oakley Fuller frames I picked out in the store. They are very comfortable, don't slide off my nose, and don't hurt my ears since the temple arms are straight and don't curve behind the ear. So, I found a set of the same Oakley Fuller frames at an online retailer for way less than Clarkson Eyecare charged me, and my plan is to take them to Costco and see if they can put standard progressive lenses in them. I mean, they are brand new (just got them yesterday), so I'm hoping they can do it. If so, my current set of standard progressives (that I got got from Costco) will become my backup pair.

So I’ve always had a weaker right eye than left eye and have known about it since I was 11. I was told I need glasses by my first eye doctor but I never got them. A couple years later I went to another eye doctor who said I actually don’t need them so I never got glasses.

Then at 20 I got glasses in Japan for the first time since it’s much cheaper than in the U.S., just to try it and it didn’t seem to do much so I never wore them. Interestingly, my prescription at that time had no cylinder. But I remember the eye doctor saying I could fix the cylinder but it’d be more expensive so I didn’t.

After I started my full time job I noticed eye strain (staring at screens all day) and having more trouble driving at night. Now in my mid twenties I got my first pair of glasses with a cylinder value. When I take my glasses off after having them on for a bit, or don’t use my glasses for awhile my eyes feel weird. Like I can definitely see without my glasses decently well but my eyes are definitely more tired without them.

I guess TLDR, with this prescription when should I be wearing glasses? I’ve heard different things from different optometrists so I’m curious if anyone else has a similar prescription to mine that would know. Thanks!

I recently got new glasses after not wearing glasses since 2017. I now feel like I am 2 ft tall, my giant pitbull/shepherd mix looks the size of a puppy. Is this normal?

I wear single vision glasses almost whole day due to high power. 8-10 hours of time spent on laptop/monitor and indoor. Drive and outdoor activities on weekends. Day to day reading requirements and phone usage. Recently got ADD and my optician suggested to go with progressive but I heard it’s not comfortable who is using computer screen most of the time. My prescription is S -6 C -1 Add +1.50 for both eyes.

Could you please suggest which one is more suitable for daily usage, and what to consider with either options. Thanks much!

I’m curious how many pairs of glasses you all have? Especially those of you with a high prescription, causing them to be rather expensive.

(Honestly I just really want a second pair but its hard to justify the expense when it’s about 500€ for me because of the high prescription)

I'm a bit confused about my glasses prescription and I'd love some clarity (ha!) on the situation.

My prescription (hopefully the formatting works, I am typing this on my phone):

- SPH CYL AXIS INTER-ADD

R +0.75 -1.50 160.0 +0.25

L +0.50 -1.00 28.0 +0.25

The person who tested my eyes told me that I'd find them useful for reading and also for driving, particularly at night.

However, when I collected them and tried them out, I was having significant problems with depth perception, and the person in the shop told me this was because they're only for reading / screen use.

My vision is noticeably clearer when I wear them, both for things that are close and far away. But they do give me an issue where I feel that everything is far away from me when it isn't. I also don't want to damage my eyes by wearing them at a time I don't need to.

I am going back to the optician to get some clarity on this, but until then, could anyone advise me?? Thank you! (and sorry this is such a long post)

Hello folks!

I recently got a new pair of glasses from a different location than l usually go to which is my optometrist office. I have never have had issues in the past adjusting to a new pair glasses until now. The new glasses made me feel dizzy and my eyes heavy. With these issues in mind, l went back to my eye doctor for them to double check the prescription. The prescription is only slightly different (stronger) than my old glasses and my eyes are healthy. The issue that the eye doctor noted must be with the lenses and suggested that l go back to the location for them to measure things again etc.

The store worker noted that my old glasses have the focal point in the middle of the lens rather than aligned with my pupils. The first set of lenses (focal point) she made actually aligned with my pupils. She marked the glasses with a marker (which l have never had done before).

She made another new set of lenses with the focal point being in the middle of the lens. However, l am not adjusting to these either. The same symptoms are occuring.

I have a fairly strong prescription with a slight astigmatism, as shown in the picture l attached. Any ideas as to what the issue or issues could be?
