I haven't been able to find any solutions or discussion online that seemed relevant so I thought I'd ask here. Any information or solutions you have would be helpful.

This is GNOME 50 on Arch.

I love GNOME's Human Interface Guidelines, the Adwaita design, its behavior, and its minimalism. People always complain about GNOME, but there are people who just want to use their operating system as a tool, not as an end in itself. Most importantly, it also helps with my ADHD and OCD. I have a bad habit of trying to configure everything and distracting elements like ads or bloatware in some other operating systems really bother me. I feel really comfortable with GNOME. Currently, I'm using the Blur My Shell extension for slightly better aesthetics and GSConnect & Caffeine for utility.

I want to remove title bar of application windows, it's some time annoying to have just a blank bar for just 3 buttons,

if there is any solution please let me know thanks in advance

Is there anyone else experiencing issues while testing GNOME 51.beta with a multi-monitor setup?

I’m using Fedora 45 Beta with three monitors. Sometimes, after the screen locks and the monitors turn off, waking them up shows the blurred lock screen/clock, but the authentication box doesn’t appear. The system then becomes completely unresponsive.

The same issue also happens after suspend/resume.

I’m wondering if this is specific to my setup or if anyone else has experienced something similar with GNOME 51.beta and multiple monitors.

What it is, for anyone new

A unique note taking app with sticky notes DNA for Windows,Linux, macOS (soon). Offline, no account, no telemetry. Built with PySide6 (QT) so it's actually native, not another Electron app eating your RAM.

Nearly a year ago I started working on it because I wanted quick capture that lives on the desktop instead of inside another app I have to open. Windows Sticky Notes wants a sign-in, and on Linux there was nothing decent that works the same across KDE, GNOME and Cinnamon. It also helps my ADHD to have things persist on screen where I can't ignore them.

The main thing it does that other sticky apps don't: you can paste or drag anything into a note.

• Files and folders become clickable shortcuts, and you can drag them back out to your file manager
• Screenshots and images paste straight from the clipboard, PDFs and images get a hover preview, and double-click opens an image at full resolution
• Pasted code gets detected and formatted into a code block automatically, no AI and no network, in about 50ms. Ctrl+M when it guesses wrong
• Rich text, links, plain text, all formatted properly instead of rejected

Other things worth knowing:

• Reminders with sound and desktop notifications
• GIF and image backgrounds per note (because why not)
• RTL text support, and the app plus its full guide are in 12 languages
• Pin a note to lock both position and editing
• Ctrl+scroll to zoom text without opening settings
• Checkboxes with strikethrough when done and nesting
• Snap to grid with an adjustable grid size
• Export to .txt, .md or .json, so you can back them up with whatever cloud you like
• Proper Linux support, tested on KDE, GNOME and Cinnamon (COSMIC coming)
• On the Microsoft Store and the Snap store, Flathub coming soon

What's new in v1.2

Notes have tabs now. Up to three pages inside one note, each with its own text, scroll position and undo history. Ctrl+PgDown and Ctrl+PgUp to move between them, Ctrl+Shift+N for a new one, all rebindable. If you have a small screen this is the feature: one note on the desktop, three notes' worth of content in it.

Search reads every page of every note, including hidden notes and pages you've never opened.

The free version now has exactly one limit. It used to have three: a note cap, a reminders cap, and a cap on animated GIF backgrounds. The reminder and GIF limits are gone entirely, so the free version now has every feature, and the only thing left is a budget of 4 note slots (an extra tab uses a slot).

A new look: in-app color picker, themed icons instead of emoji, and one shared design system across every dialog. Reminders moved out of the text into their own strip on the note.

"Start with the hub hidden" if you want it fully out of the way at boot.

65 fixes across formatting, file shortcuts, dates, translations, read-only notes, global shortcuts and desktop integration on both Linux and Windows.

And v1.2.1 last week fixed the things users told me about after v1.2: notes surviving Show Desktop on Windows, window stacking on Cinnamon, reminders retrying instead of getting lost, images keeping their size and rotation after a restart.

⚠️ One warning if you use tabs: don't downgrade to an older build afterwards. Old versions understand one page per note, so opening and saving a tabbed note there permanently drops its other pages. Export first if you're going back.

I made a post about two months ago about the release of Mirror V0.9.0 and this is just the next small upgrade. I added:

• A button to install the required dependencies (qrencode, scrcpy, avahi-browse and adb)

(Yes that's it 😂) small disclaimer, this button might not install scrcpy for debian-based distros because apt often gets an old version that is not compatible with the extension 😢 .

In the previous post I asked what you guys wanted the most for the next version, everyone agreed an app would be great. I researched a bit and found at that an app cannot add things to the gnome-shell, so it would not be as tightly integrated as the extension. But the main problem with making an app is that someone has already made it, it is called Aurynk (go check it out and give the developer some love and stars 😄)

If you guys still want me to make an app I will do it, but I do not think I would be adding anything to the community by doing so 😕.

This update brings back Quick Save (Ctrl+S) which was gone on 1.7.2 update due to file corruption issues on saves, i managed to fix it with a good failsafe system so you dont have to worry about saving now.

Also another feature i added is Freehand Pen & Highlighter Tools which is recommended by a user, added freehand drawing tools with customizable colors, stroke widths, and opacity.

Another recommendation added was Quick Checkmark (✓) & Cross (✗) Tools which is a dedicated sidebar tools for adding checkmarks and crosses for fast form review and document markup, if this is your usecase.

Next is Special Characters Support, Symbols & Emojis Palette which popover palette with categorized tabs for form review symbols and emojis. So you can copy them from there to your clipboard and use on your texts you gonna edit or add easily.

Single-Key Keyboard Shortcuts for Tools to access them fastly with 1 press with updated sidebar tool button label hints.

Added Arrow Key Movement to move any selected object using Arrow keys. It will come handy if you have a trackpad.

And lastly Direct Creation Tool Resizing which is a feature recommended by user, this feature allows newly created objects to be directly grabbed and dragged without requiring a manual switch back to the "Select" tool.

I've been transitioning to GNOME from KDE Plasma because I find it to be a lot more functional for multitasking, but there are a couple wrinkles that I've yet to solve.

I am a teacher and I often have a projector on as a third "monitor". Throughout a lesson I like to use the Freeze function on the projector, which locks the image, then lock my computer so I can keep information displayed for my students while my computer stays locked to prevent mischief. On GNOME, when you use the screen lock (either with Super+l or using loginctl), the displays all turn off. Even if it is just for an instant (like with loginctl), it causes the projector to lose the frozen image because it thinks the display has been disconnected.

I've tried using swaylock and other screen lockers, but they're not compatible with Mutter. Is there any solution to this, where I can lock the computer without the outputs dropping out?

I have a 1080p monitor and another 2K monitor (my laptop's screen).

I set up a new mouse theme (this one: https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1084938 ), but my mouse cursor appears half the size on my 2K monitor, even though I’ve already gone into the display settings to zoom in to about 175% on my 2K monitor.

Is it possible to fix this bug? I’m guessing it has to do with the theme not having cursor icons in the correct resolution ?

Came back to linux after using macOS for a long period of time and even to this day I keep falling in love with GNOME and it's design. I haven't touched a code editor for a very long time, so to refresh my memory and abilities I decided to create a small Sticky notes application in Vala utilising GTK4 & Adwaita. You could say it does take some inspiration from Windows sticky notes app.

Still a lot to do, but I look forward to finishing the app and releasing it soon as my first app.

Anyone have any links that show how to release apps as a Flatpak as well by any chance?
