Saw Mygolfspy released the review of the wedges from 2026, I not gonna lie, I've only tried the irons from Kirkland, specifically the 4 iron and Maaaaan it felt really solid it had a nice weight. Anyone has tried or owns the wedges and driver?

Played our local muni this weekend, packed day, backups on every hole. My friends and I are all new to golf, still taking lessons, nowhere near good. We play scramble to keep pace. On a par 5, one of my friends hit a drive that went 280 yards, dead straight. None of us have ever broken 200, let alone hit it straight. It was an absolute miracle. Problem was, there were golfers about 300 yards out. The ball landed near them, we yelled fore immediately. One guy hopped in his cart, drove over, and started screaming at us like we shot his god and tried to hurt someone intentionally. We tried explaining that this shot was a total fluke, my friend couldn’t repeat it in 100 tries, but he wasn’t hearing it. Kept yelling until a marshal came over and made us skip the hole.

So, did we actually mess up here, or was this guy out of line?

And somehow that one shot is always enough.

Assuming you are playing the whites and there are two more tee boxes ahead of you, the yellows or the reds. If you have to hit driver from where you are at in this situation, you are playing the wrong tee box and need to be playing at least one set up. I saw this on the course today and I was flabbergasted. Why would you make the game harder for yourself?

There is nothing wrong with moving up a set of tees or playing the shortest ones possible. If that is how you have to play golf who gives a shit? Not giving yourself an opportunity to make the green in regulation does not make any sense.

I did end up buying 3 boxes

I just bought a brand new set of Foreward irons from their local certified fitter, and this is what I pick up.

Foreward claims they'd never send heads out like this. The local builder (Foreward associated) said the 8 iron came with the toe damage but the rest he didn't notice any damage when building them. He said this was their last set of satin heads available until October.

Foreward told me to contact the builder for a resolution. I just spoke with the builder and he kept saying it happens all the time because they're sooooo soft (1020 steel), which I get. But my copper irons that are even softer then their irons look better than this after a dozen or so rounds with them.

The only resolutions offered so far are to discount the 8 iron cost down to his cost, replace the 8 iron only in October, or get a whole new set of heads also in October, probably ready early November.

Bend marks aren't terribly uncommon, but can be avoided by protecting the head, and I'll admit the hosel and sole pebbles are from the loft/lie machine. The rest? No fucking clue.

I think it’s pretty easy to say if you’ve made over $4 million playing professional golf you shouldn’t be able to reclaim your amateur status.

I hope they don’t let us down.

And somehow, I still wouldn’t trade this ridiculous, frustrating, amazing game for anything in the world.

Saw this hanging in the bathroom at a course I recently played. Curious what everyone thinks of these suggestions for keeping up the pace of play.

Finishing up a four week stay in Peterhead playing the 18th oldest course in the world. Overseas membership has provided me with club member privileges and unlimited golf. I’m spoiled!

I have yet to have a round take more than 3.75 hours with most averaging around three hours. Dealing with the wind has been a trip with downwind drives making me feel like a pro and into wind shots robbing me of 30-40 yards. Wind giveth and taketh away!

I made and fixed my first ball mark on a green yesterday after an overnight train softened up the normally hard greens. You really have to roll them on to keep them on.

Anyway, I want to suggest to anyone interested in Scottish golf to look into the Overseas Membership programs at various clubs. For about $500 you can get unlimited access to a course that regularly charges guests $100-$150 for a single 18 hole round. And did I mention three hour rounds?!!!

We ended up playing 63 holes from just after breakfast to dusk. Couldn't ask for a better 9 hole loop to play again and again.

Was just playing so accurately and careful, always taking the percentage shot, the layup, teeing off with my hybrid in places the driver could mean trouble. 80% swings only, that kind of thing.

Conpletely surpassed my previous record of 48 holes one ball, so close to 100.

Lost it on a dog leg left where I had no thought at all that I'd lose it because I'm naturally a draw player, and randomly hit a fade into a ravine. RIP.

Proud of the accomplishment though, and as a result of my conservative play in these tournaments I'm currently ranked #1 in my country's national order of merit for the ladies division. Not a huge accomplishment since it's a small country with even less lady golfers (maybe 150 total) but still kind of neat.

Yes it’s expensive, but I can’t believe how good this thing is. The ball holds its line, it’s not crazy fast, but definitely not slow. Probably the same as a typical good public course. No worries about grooves forming (like every other “carpet” mat I’ve used) and lies perfectly flat

This is 12x4‘ and the width is ideal. My kids and and I are able to both stand on it and putt. I’ve also snapped chalk lines on it (blue chalk) and they show up nicely, but also wipe away no problem. The accessories are really nice too. High back cup, insert to make the hole smaller, and a foam donut to deepen the hole and add some break

I’ve had it for 2 days and have already logged hours on it. Haven’t seen a ton on here about the turf version so figured I’d share. Again, not cheap, but if you have a good spot for it, it may be worth considering. From all that I can tell, it’s going to last a very, very long time.

I’ll be removing that spin bike and adding the turf extension so I can roll straight putts to that left hole (right hole in the picture) and really utilize the entire mat.

I played my local course recently and ran into an argument with another player. I was certain I was in the right and I still do but after speaking to other players, opinions are split. Let me know - was I in the right or not?

We are about to tee off and there is another two ball booked in to our group. They roll up and they have brought a friend. They ask if we can play five players and I say flat no. Not a chance. They are taken aback and ask why and I said it’s bad etiquette and it will slow down the pace of the whole course. They point out it’s already slow but I’m adamant we will not agree to it. They end up playing behind us and one of the guys is pissed off. He drives up to us several times and tries to make fun of the whole etiquette thing. He wants to keep on arguing and I just ignore him.

He thinks I was very rude to call out bad etiquette.

I don’t think i was. What’s the verdict here?

Edit; this is a course in Sydney. We don’t have starters or Marshalls. Public courses in Sydney are a clown show and you kinda have to deal with bad behaviour yourself.

I called the pro shop today and they said they would never allow five in one ball but they would t have a way of checking.

1st ever Eagle from the fairway. No. 2 handicap hole, slightly elevated. Green wasn’t visible. Club was a no. 4 Ping G435h. The ball was a Maxfli Tour.

The ball flew toward the right edge of the green, hit a mound and bounced left when I got there a ball was suiting right on the edge of the green. But it wasn’t mine. Partner suggested I check off the back of the green. Nothing there, either. Must be in the hole. Yup. Only my 2nd Eagle.

So me and my Wife played our first ever round of golf yesterday. We were awful, despite going to the range or pitch and putt weekly for the last few months, but we absolutely loved it. It was a lovely 9 hole moorland club close to us. Anyhow, we've caught the bug and I'm currently sorting out memberships for both of us.

Yes, I know, it's a par-3 pitch and putt, not exactly Augusta. But after years away from the game, figured I'd start small before embarrassing myself on a real course. Locked in September 7th at Flushing Meadows out in Queens. Equal parts nervous and excited for a round where the biggest challenge might just be remembering how to hold the club. Any tips for shaking off the rust before this monumental🤣 comeback?
