Goodbye Google

Okay, I've been a loyal supporter of Google for over 2 decades. Loved their products and have set up and synched my home, loved their altruistic philosophy, and I've owned their stock. Now, G home sucks and they have obviously lost their altruistic direction and are more interested in preservation of their wealth. Their Lake Ontario gaffe was the end. I'm jumping ship and figuring out a way to replace it all. Get on the right side of history Goog.

That's a pretty dumb reason to finally decide to not use Google, for an issue that really doesn't have anything to do with Google.

Having a company that you liked turn flagrantly evil and start promoting propaganda for people engaging in genocide is not a reason to stop using a brand? Uh then what is? It's kind of weird when you find out that a company is on the "same side" as people who are behaving in a way that is almost identical to actual Nazis from WW2. Oh okay, so I gave my money to Nazis? That company is headed for bankruptcy... Obviously no, a Nazi scam tech company shouldn't be allowed to have a monopoly.

So, Google is a military style state sponsored propaganda style media company? They can have fun with their bankruptcy.

I see, so it was a giant scheme to "scam liberals." And by liberals, I mean "the people who want freedom and don't want to die." Yeah we're done guys. Good bye.

Yeah they thought they could "pull the wool over our eyes by doing it very slowly." It didn't work, they're a bunch of fascists and it's very obvious.

So, I assume that Sundar Pichai loves Trump's new pitch to "end transgender people" in America. Cool man, so the exact same the speech about minorities that occurred in Nazi Germany, almost word for word. I'm sure they're happy that they helped to push that guy into power.

Calls for genocide in America from the president, Thanks Google! You guys rock! It was totally worth it to trade the entire country for some monopoly money that you have a shit ton of! Yeah buddy! Let's mass manipulate people on Youtube some more!

It's the fun thing to do for tech companies: Manipulate the youth into being Nazis!

Cool man!

Obviously when there's massive wars and genocide occurring, you know all that matters is money! Money, money, money! You know that thing that we made up? Who cares about human lives when you can have tons of monopoly money!?!? So, the rich guys can go to their private islands and die of old age all by themselves! How fun!

I don't think it's dumb at all. Google home is super glitchy and unreliable and it doesn't seem like they are doing shit to make it better. Sergey fighting against a wealth tax in CA that will hardly affect his wealth, and now bending the knee and naming the lake. I'm simply going to remove my support and money. Seems like a smart way to exercise my limited power.

The other reasons are valid, I just don't think the Lake Ontario rename being the final straw is a good reason. Google Maps pulls from local databases for this stuff, for the U.S. it's GNIS, where Lake Ontario is officially named Lake America. They should just stick with the database and remain unbiased.

You know they don't have to rename it just because the president said so, right?

No. You are more likely a bot than I.

Them changing Lake Ontario was the moment you realized Google was ā€œmore interested in preserving their wealth.ā€

If you aren’t a bot, are you a fucking idiot then?

No, not the moment. Had been happening over time with the degradation of their services. That was the straw that broke the camels back. Guess I still had hope after supporting them for so long.

Well, it’s the first major platform to lick trumps boots by renaming ā€œLake Ontarioā€ to ā€œLake America.ā€ It is the first browser to remove MV2 extensions, leading to the removal of uBlock Origin add blocker. P.S. there’s also [r/degoogle](r/degoogle)…

Ahh, thank you for pointing out degoogle. It seems like we have a cadre of Google paid influencers on this sub. I was not kidding about being a huge fan for decades. They may care when we all start de-googling.

Google doesn't have to put all this AI in, and cater to Trump's every demand. I'm through. I recently removed Chrome from all my computers and I'm about to remove Google Maps.
