90s Yard Etiquette: Going Over Graffiti
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This video is mainly about yard etiquette and most doesn’t apply to street graffiti. I did a post talking about how we didn’t used to buff our spots at yards much in the 90s. We just rocked on top of other graffiti.
We had some guidelines in place so we were mostly operating on the same understanding. If the spot we chose has a bunch of tags, a pieced that was dissed, partially covered up, it was fair game to paint there.
Some comments mentioned how it was disrespectful to leave someone’s shit hanging out. While that’s true leaving someone’s clean piece hanging out from behind yours, most people didn’t care if part of their throwie or tags were showing from behind your piece.
It was just how we operated. Some people will always get pissed not matter what you do, but this was the understanding we had back then.

throwie help
Sketches are in order of most to least recent.
I’m focusing on making a throw of the initials of my name first so I can hit up smaller spots around my town (there are plenty of smaller surfaces here that wouldn’t fit more than 2-3 letters).
I got some ideas as you can see but I’m not 100% satisfied with any of them. The second image shows some throwies I like a little more than the rest, but I feel like they are too blocky to be considered a throw in the first place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as well as feedback on the drawings!

Video game Graffiti
Ravencroft Studios is an indie small team studio looking for advice on including in game graffiti. The world we’re building is important to us and we want to get this right.
Some early discussion was had around taking photos of graffiti to use but we decided this seemed sleazy and wanted to take a different approach.
Should we solicit for artists who want to have their work included in a game with credit to the artists? Should we select our most artistic individuals and have them start the process of learning the basics? We wanted to include the actual members of graffiti communities in these discussions as a sign of respect for the artistry. Please let us know your thoughts.

Tips, critiques, etc
Haven’t picked up a marker in like 6 years, sketched this one out a bit but it got a little squished. Any tips on spacing the right side (besides having more room to work with) so the pink is more even? Or should I close the o a bit? Been doing the bubbles ever since an OG first showed me his work. It’s meant to say “atomizer” btw.. had a few tell me it was illegible. Lmklmk thx. N sorry bout the rant

Ever use an electric paint sprayer?
Example image provided but really any electric paint sprayer experience is appreciated.
I'm thinking of getting a cordless one and leaning on that instead of spray paint cans.
Stealth and ability to leave it behind in a pinch aside, do we think this would work?
I want to try it myself but the good ones might be pricey so I want to ask around first.

How is this effect done?
It looks like there was a stencil layer sprayed that got peeled off.

Any Feedback?
Any critique welcome! I've been practicing these letters lately. I prefer the top one—the 'S' and 'E' in the bottom one aren't really doing it for me. Any advice is welcome!
