We lost our 5 year old Dane unexpectedly last weekend. He died overnight at the dog sitters due to bloat. We have never experienced pain on this level and keep blaming ourselves for not being there when he needed us most. I don’t know if we can recover from this.

We got our sweet boy, Marlowe (6, right in first photo), fell in love with him and got our crazy boy, Zen (4, left in first photo), a couple years later. We are obsessed with them! They keep life crazy but full of love! 💕

We cut the trip short at 4 miles due to poor trail conditions. Maus was fantastic! She never strayed and just stayed on Panzers tail the whole day. Panzer has been running this route for 7 yrs and it’s just another day in the woods for him. He even knows the spots we stop to hydrate and cool off in the creek. We might do an overnight trip next weekend and see how she does overnight in a small tent.

Severely reactive, generalized anxiety, and separation anxiety Dane here. Wondering about what training methods are best. I have worked with a few different trainers over the years, used a balanced trainer for about 2 years which was good at first and then slowly issues came back and could never get them under control. Currently seeing a vet behaviorist for the meds and working with a force free trainer now, but his issues are probably the worst they’ve ever been. Has health issues too which we are working to address. What method have you had the most success with? Especially for Danes that have struggled with reactivity and anxiety.

I just got a 3 month old great dane puppy. She isn’t pure bred and i haven’t done a dna test, but I’m pretty sure she is one.
I am committed this little queen, but i am overwhelmed. It is my first time being a puppy mom and I want to do it right, but right now i don’t think i am. I feel so stressed and I just want her to be happy and feel at home.
She is adjusting great, and she’s just being herself. I’m just worried she isn’t getting all her energy out and she’s bored.
Does anybody have any tips? I’m 21 years old and I have a part time job. She gets attention from my parents while i’m away but they’re older so they don’t play with her that much.

My rescue doggo Hoss The Boss Earl Scruggs Silas Holley Jr. (Hoss for short). The kitties and the doggo are slowly becoming friends. Hoss is a gentle giant and Pi (my grumpy cat) is slowly warming up to him, Jareth (The Chonk) enjoys stealing The doggos favorite spot and Lady Sansa of Litterfell Queen of the Barfs can't be bothered and just wants to be on my lap. This is our goofy furry family .

We lost our first Dane ‘Broly’ at 5 due to bloat and no one being home to catch it.

We swore we were going to wait but a Dane missing in the house feels so much different than even other larger dogs. We decided after a couple months we needed another.

First picture is close to when we got him back in November of last year. Second is of him about a month ago or so. He just hit about 140 lbs. birthday is coming up September 19th.

I'm sure he's getting better looking by the day! I wish I could say the same for our grass...

I have a male Dane, Scooby. He’s a little over 18 months now. He eats anywhere between 5-8 cups a food of day and I add lard and a probiotic to his food. He loves it. However, he still looks skinny. He seems to fluctuate where he looks very full in his ribs and abdomen then he goes back to looking very skinny. He also seems to grow taller when he goes into his skinny phase. He’s about 6 foot 2 standing. I feel like I’m doing something wrong though because I’ve never had a dog fluctuate in weight like this. He’s a sweet and happy boy but I kind of want him to be a slightly chunky boy too 😂 The vet says he’s healthy and has a good appetite.

He’s my first Great Dane and I tried to research as much as possible before adopting but I’m at a loss. So I’m looking for recommendations. He eats the SportMix Energy Plus food.If possible I would like it to be natural supplementation because unfortunately we have hit a financial hard ship and supplements are expensive. But honestly at this point I’ll make it work for Scoobs if it’s what he needs. He’s also not fixed yet if that affects anything. Thank you ❤️

I don’t even know what to say! She has been through so much in life. Born deaf, lots of cancer scares, went fully blind 6 years ago. Most resilient being I’ve ever met! I’m so grateful to have had her in my life for as long as I have. Happy birthday Blue! Momma loves you with all her heart and more. 💗

I don't remember if I read it or if I was told by a breeder. A long time ago before I got my fist Dane I read or was told that if there was no color around their eyes then that means they will have vision problems. Is that true or just a myth? I don't know why this has stuck with me through all these years but it has. I've never had a Dane like that so I don't know.

P.S. Not the eye itself but the area surrounding the eye should not be white hair/skin.

Our wonderful Milo has been living with us for three weeks now and he's just the sweetest boy, he looks like an old man!

He is the first Dane I have as an adult and I feel very excited to see what kind of a man he will turn into.

In just a few hours Maus will be joining myself/Panzer and my old battle buddy for a 5 mile ruck on the coastal range. Harness is fitted. They have had the first protein/calorie load up (poached chicken thighs X3 each and 1/2 pound of beef in am along with a raw egg) flea and tick meds done. With advantage 2 drops before we leave.
20ft lightweight leash along with a new AirTag bolted on the harness ( recall is good but a face to face with a blacktail or cow elk…. Not going to risk a failed recall)

This will be the first few miles in what will end up being hundreds and hundreds of miles over her lifetime of adventures way off the grid. Wish her luck. Hopefully by spring she will be able ruck the big 12 mile trips with little to no instructions from me and have zero issues interfering with wildlife as they go about doing whatever they do.

My town built an amphitheatre a few years ago and we are lucky enough to enjoy local bands a couple times a month in the warmer months. It's always fun seeing the community come together and be happy!

I love this breed so much!!!

I am miserable. Not sure if any of you saw my post a few days ago about my boy being diagnosed with IMPA; but it ended up being an aggressive cancerous bone lesion in his hip, pelvis, rib, and front leg. 7 days after symptoms started and he’s gone. I am absolutely heartbroken 😭

Adopted him from a foster family about 5 months ago. They told us he's a mix, Great Dane cross something. Any guesses?

We might keep this boy. Absolute sweetie.

Doing yard work and Artie likes to fight the leaf blower so I let her chomp at it a few times before I put it away😂
