So I’m mocking up a display project. As you might imagine my wife just shook her head. I’m thinking shadow box with something like the first set up, the astronauts vertical and the others face out. Will probably be another week or so until I finalize the design. 😂 might even have to spring for a nasa white 6900? Cant decide if it’s worth it for the detail.

My only G-shock for the past 4 years was my trusty GW-6900 with EL light (last picture).

After reading through dozens of posts (thanks to this great community), I decided to get the 
GW-M5610U first. The best part was to score one during an all-time low price of 88,72 € in Amazon DE.

Kept on reading even more and obviously had to get the GW-5000U made in Japan too 😅

Is that it for the next 4 years? I guess time will tell...

I saw some reviews saying they thought it looks tacky with the shiny black. I love it with a long sleeve button up shirt, and you can’t convince me otherwise.

I was previously debating if it was worth upgrading my GWM5610-1 to the GW-M5610U or GW-5000U.

Well as you can see I took the 5000U route.

Overall the GW-5000U:

1-The all black design of the watch face to include the DLC coated screw-down caseback feels discrete or hidden.

2- Having the same module as the 5610U meant spending more money. ( for the made in Japan 🇯🇵 caseback)

3- The weight is just a slight bit noticeable.( the weight is not drastically heavy to the point where the watch is sliding or shifting around on your wrist.

4- the strap feel shorter in length maybe because the screw-down case back slightly raises the watch above your wrist compared to regular four screw squares. (Makes you readjust the strap because it’s either slightly loose or too tight on your wrist.)

5- the buttons (THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC) To be honest they’re not as loose as other square models but are still accessible and functional when pressing/utilizing. IMO they work fine.

Is the purchase worth it? Depends on the consumer.

Swapped the bezel/strap on the 5000HS from the 5000U to the 5000R and am really loving the look. The flat bezel and traditional strap from the R look perfect with the rest of the heritage vibes.

Ever since I first laid eyes of the G-9000 Mudman, I knew I wanted, no, *Needed* to get my hands on one. My first one was a Negative Green model in need of a battery. After swapping in a fresh battery, she was good to go, but about 6 months later, the actuator (I believe) went out on the bottom right presser. The watch still worked and could be sort of adjusted, but I was left with a crippled Mudman for a while. So you can imagine my joy when the eBay seller I found shot me a discount on the G-9000 they had for sale. This thing is a beast, and fits so good on this big ol wrist of mine. I can't wait to let it run wild at work (still need to get my other two Mud Gs fixed up tho 😭)

There are some mighty brute G-Shocks out there with negative displays, such as the King GX-56BB-1 and the Rangeman GW-9400-1B, that are tempting because of the superhero cosplay factor. Put one of those on and I feel like I’m in a DC or Marvel TV series, squashing imperial space invaders like bugs, but I give myself two weeks of squinting at the barely legible display before my feet fall back to earth, so I stick with the G-Shock King GXW-56-1BJF in positive display. It may not be as cool as the negative one, but it is cool enough, and I can console myself with the fact that I can actually read the time, especially when I’m being interrogated by one of the Guardian of the Universe emissaries from Lanterns or some other hellacious scenario.   

Finally got a fresh bezel & battery in for my 901 5600C. Have been dying to wear it.

Today, I picked up a DW9052 to complete my nato collection. I believe the Nato watches are the DW6900, DW6600, DW5600, and DW9052.

Question: Does the GWM5610U count as a Nato watch or only the DW5600??

Also, although I have the DW6600 in a colorful bezel + strap combo, I've decided (after much encouragement from others in the sub) to keep my 6600 as is BUT I'm contemplating getting a black version so all Nato watches are black.

Apparently, there's a DW6640, so maybe I'll pick that up so I have a black (normal) one and a colorful (fun) one.

MRGs are way way way out of my budget - at least the current models. So I am very happy to have found one in almost pristine condition in a range I could afford. It will be a very special watch for me. 🙂

Aftermarket titanium bezel, 3D-printed adapters, and Velcro strap on a GWX-5600

There’s just something comforting about wearing a $65 classic.

Been too used to my AWU and my Mudmaster, always felt my GWM5610 looked a bit too small for my wrist. Any thoughts, pls?
