Brass won’t eject

Case won’t eject but easily comes out, recently changed the extractor, any thoughts on a fix? SCT frame Davidson defense slide G17 gen 3

Not enough pressure to charge the slide back...

I'd change the recoil spring to a lighter one, there by allowing the lighter spring rate to allow your slide to go back with the pressure left from those hideous island comp cuts...

Stock is 17#...

That's gonna be a trial-and-error scenario...

Ammo, spring rate, lubrication, reloads vs new ammo, bullet weight, are ya running +P or +P+ or just plinking ammo...

Lots to consider before declaring one spring weight over another... Research the topic... World at your feet in the palm of your hand... I'm sure there are web pages by others who have been here like you...

You’re gonna wanna get a 15 lb recoil spring and start using 124 grain ammo. Ports and comps need more energy to cycle and the lighter spring helps that along.

What I’m seeing is a possible extractor problem. If it were a pressure issue, the slide would either (a) finish travel well before the rim clears the chamber, and we would see the slide resting with the breech face contacting the brass that was only half pulled, or a closed chamber because it just slammed the empty back home, or (b) we would see the slide with the brass crooked in the port because the rim did have enough time to clear the chamber, but not the port.

What I see in the video is separation between the breech face and the brass, with the slide hung up on the next round that cannot proceed to the chamber. This would make me think that the extractor is at least partially to blame, if not totally. If it isn’t explicitly the extractor, then it’s the extractor in conjunction with under-powered loads and/or too high a powered recoil spring.

May be a part of the problem as well... And it may be multiple problems, not just ammo, extractor, user error...

But I will stand on the island ports as being a huge part of the tuning... Or lack there of...

Are you using 115 grain ammo? If so I would try some 124

Yeah 115 all I had on hand I figured the ports were comping to much

115 with ports?
You need to be running 13-15 pound springs.

You dont want a gun because it doesn’t like the ammo, I think its just the recoil springs.

If it was working fine before changing extractors, try putting old extractor back in unless it was broken. Seems like the new one isn't gripping the rim well.

124 grain. Pmc bronze is a decent choice for break in. I used Speer Lawman in comped pistols. FYI Blazer should not be used in a ported gun.

That looks to me like your Extractor Spring does NOT HAVE ENOUGH Power to EXTRACT the Used Casing! Or since the Slide has been Milled for RMR and the Right Hand Screw Holes are RIGHT ONTOP of the Extractor Spring Track sometimes some companies have NOT DE-BURRED the Screw Holes and that can cause the Extractor to JAM UP Causing Issues with EJECTION!

The BEST way to find out is to Take the SLIDE APART Remove the Extractor and the Extractor Spring and Assembly Pusher put a light on the Ejection Port side and shine it down the Extractor Hole to see if the RMR Mounting Holes have any SHARP EDGES that can cause the Spring to get CAUGHT. Also Double Check to make sure that you have the Correct White Color Extractor Plastic part. THe Extractor Parts for a 3rd Gen Glock are fairly Inexpensive I would Recommend replacing the parts that Davidson Defense put in with OEM GLOCK Parts BETTER SAFE than Sorry. You can get all the parts from Brownells, NDZ Performance or Lone Wolf.

After looking at the ejector, I would get some lighter grain ammo. Ports and comps love 65gr if you’re using 9mm. Go lighter or get +P. Ports divert gases to act as recoil management you want more not less.
