Needed another case for the $1.89 Pittsburgh pick and hook set. I had printed another design a year or two ago, but needed more for 2nd and 3rd set. Now have 1 set in the garage, one in a kitchen junk drawer, and one in my hobby/3d printing room.

This case on makerworld is specific to the Pittsburgh set, and works well, so mentioning here. Its a single "print in place design" hinges and all. No bolts or screws needed. The latch is a separate piece that snaps on, but otherwise its ready to go off the printer. For me the hinges were easy to get working after printing. No supports required . The latch locks the case closed quite well, but if it wears over time, will be easy to reprint the latch. Its a small separate piece that snaps into place.

Solid people, the lot of them. Good on them warning their customers. Look, even if it’s performative, it’s nicer treatment than most big chains. Just saying, it’s nice to feel like a person now and then. Thanks HF, that was a nice gesture.

Got all this and some miscellaneous stuff for $265

The older Pittsburgh floor jack is better for lower cars as the apron? part of the jack is lower then the Daytona. The Daytona starts to increase in height as you go.towards handle while the Pittsburgh is lower throughout the entire length of the body until the handle part.

They are both good jacka but the Pittsburgh works better for me for my situation.

A few places near me started clearing out floor models to replace and selling them in the open box. An employee told me that information after I asked why so many were in the open box section. Lot of Bauer and Hercules 12v tools. High price tags for now but I’m sure they will come down on most of them before someone snags them.

I went to HB this past weekend. The manager said there will be a 20% off coupon this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. I asked if there was a price limit and he said 20% off anything in the store. 1 item per day.

$90 for the 1 drawer cart seemed too good to pass up. I do all of the maintenance and most of the repairs on 3 aging family vehicles.

Haven't gotten any g2 ratchets since the first batch came out...not itc anymore so if it goes 40% ill be ass out come black fri lol

Rumor mill is posting about “Storage Days” sale in a couple of weeks. I’m looking at a 56” box and may use the 20% sale coming up to get it, but now wondering if it would be worth waiting for the storage sale. Anyone have details?

I know it’s hard to predict next sales but I am asking based on previous year holiday sales. Or should I go ahead and grab all of these now?

Picked up a pair of the 3 inch spot lights from HF a while back. Did some overlanding and camping and they worked flawlessly. I wasn’t sure what to expect for $20 a piece but they definitely were a score. Located in Buffalo, NY so it’s pretty brutal. Might step it up to the spot flood combo at some point. Only time will tell how they’ll hold up over the winter.

Also grabbed a pair of the work lights and used them as scene lights. They weren’t as bright as I needed but for $5 I’m not really in a position to complain haha.

Anyone have suggestions for a more permanent solution? I was thinking about buying four of the 3 inch flood lights and mounting them on my roof rails. I accidentally bought one instead of the spot which gave me an opportunity to test it, worked pretty well. I saw some people use the rock lights but I have my doubts on if they’ll be enough to light up the area. I primarily use the scene lights for setting up camp or additional light when I’m cooking.

I know I could’ve waited for better deals but I’m trying to fill my 56” and I saved $300 doing it!

Love the lights. They are amazingly bright and light up the whole garage. Motion sensor works great on them.

Only issue I have is that when im working at my tool bench, the lights turn off if I’m not moving around enough. Outside of disabling the motion sensor… Is there any way to change them to make the timer longer? Flapping my arms around like a madman every two minutes is getting very frustrating.

Debating getting an external motion screw-in with an adjustable timer and hooking the lights to that. Anyone tried that?

Anyone got a better solution for storing the free rags? I just cut out the circle of the bottom of a bucket and kinda in folded them as I packed them in and it seems to be a nice free dispenser for them. Fit 3 packs of rags in one 5 gallon bucket.

I have only been following the specials for the tool chests for a couple of months now and I am wondering if the 20% off coupon this weekend is better than any other specials that generally come out for these as I have heard generally the better times to buy are during parking lot sales or around black Friday. Thoughts?

Recently came into the market for an impact wrench. Thinking on going air powered as i already have a compressor at home and cheaper than battery powered for a tool that will hardly get used mainly for mower blades and lug nuts. What are the pros and cons of 1/2 and 3/8 for my expected use? And what would be the best option for tool?

For a DIYer with casual woodworking projects, I don't need a very expensive dust extractor or a battery only item (like Milwaukee Dust Extractor) for something like this. They are also very $$$. Therefore looking for a decent budget setup.

Will be making some closets and cabinets over the next few months, main use being M18 track saw, but future uses could be some smaller sanding projects (5" orbital sander, etc).

How does the Hercules Dust Extractor for $369 stack up for those who use it? Is it really loud?

Also, how does a DE stack up vs. a shop vac for regular shop vac type trash pickup? What about for wet/water pickup? Wouldn't mind having a DE if its also versatile like a shop vac, but also is a DE for my main purpose.

Debating this route vs. a "quiet" branded shop vac.

Can someone recommend some setups for me, and even accessories like hoses/adapters you think are great or if the stock DE is fine?

Few options I'm thinking about and looking for feedback on:

1. Budget + Compact + Look Good Option: $75.99 (when on sale) DeWalt 8-Gallon 4HP Stealthsonic Quiet Stainless Steel. MSRP is $99.99 Costco. Stainless, compact, quieter. Wet and dry. Think I can't go wrong here. Con: Probably need to replace the 7 ft hose. No real storage bag or legs for the accessories. Below DeWalt has that.
2. Bigger Capacity but Plasticey look: Either Dewalt Stealthsonic Quiet 12 Gallon 5.5 HP ($139 Lowes / $124.99 Costco) or Shop-Vac 5430098 Ultra Quiet Wet/Dry Vac 12 Gallon 5.5 HP ($119 Amazon). I don't mind spending a little more if its better, but I kind of feel like for dust extraction, option 1 might be better? Con: Plastic look. Probably need to replace the 7 ft hose. Big Con: Mustard Yellow (lol).
3. Budget Actual Dust Extractor: Hercules 12 Gallon OSHA-Compliant HEPA Dust Extractor ($369.99 Harbor Freight). Can wait for sales probably and get it like 15-20% off. But I have no comparison how much louder (or quieter) it is than the 2 above quiet shop vac options. It says you can do wet/dry, but not sure how much worse this would be as a "vac" or "wet vac" only if I needed one. Pro/Con: 17 ft hose, but it doesn't mean its a good hose. IDK.

Any hoses/adapters, things you like? I'm eying the Shop-Vac Wireless Remote Control Outlet Plug ($23.99 Amazon) to put the button on the top of the hose where it connects to the tool. Wondering if a better option exists for this too.

I just bought this impact and there’s a small stream of air coming out of the side of the handle. I wanna know if that’s normal to see? This is the earthquake XT ultra torque 1/2 impact

DAYTONA 1.5-Ton Floor Jack — Should I Return It Under Warranty?

I’m having a similar issue with my DAYTONA 1.5-ton floor jack and came across this old post describing almost the exact same problem.

I can eventually get it to catch, but it takes some extra effort and doesn’t feel like it’s engaging as easily as it should.

Has anyone else experienced this with the DAYTONA 1.5-ton jack? Is this just normal with these jacks, or does it sound like something is misaligned or defective? Since mine is still within the 90-day Harbor Freight warranty, would you guys recommend I just bring it back and exchange it, or is there an easy adjustment/fix that I should try first?

I really like the jack otherwise, but I don’t want to ignore a potential problem this early and have it become worse after the warranty expires.
