Meta I hate when things are needlessly explained by creators in order to cope with criticism

Post image
9.4k Upvotes

I don’t read or watch Demon Slayer, But this is just a stupid explanation for giving a strong character a slender build.

Personally, I don’t care if a character is strong but has a lean/slender build, whether it be a man or a woman. Although I do find it a bit weird that some creators are seemingly allergic to giving female characters any muscle, but again, I don’t care that much.

My issue here is that you easily could have just not addressed it. It’s a fantasy story full of demons and shit, I feel like you don’t need to give an in-universe explanation just so you can go “e-erm actually, she’s slender because of her very special body…” dude, you just didn’t want to give a woman muscles, don’t try to hide behind some kind of BS lore that you wrote for it.

Like Mark in Invincible can fight Conquest despite being the size of his torso, and I’m willing to accept that. It’s a story full of aliens and monsters, I can look past the fact that a lean 20 year old is taking on a hulked out 2000 year old. It doesn’t really break the immersion for me because it’s a fantastical story. I don’t need it to be super realistic. Just don’t try to make up some BS explanation like “erm, well, Mark is just magically holding in his muscle mass!”

At the end of the day, it’s your world and your story, if you wanna make a slender female character who is also really strong, that’s fine. But you also don’t need to cope so hard that you add lore specifically to deflect criticism against something so (let’s be honest) harmless.

Meta I hate how Jaidenanimation is sexualized

Post image

Ok i know it sounds odd as a title but i hate how people (mostly NSFW artists) draw Jaiden from Jaidenanimations (a real person mind you) in a sexual manner, like what the hell is this shit? Its disrespectful as hell and very creepy sexualizing a real person who definely doesn't feel comfortable about it. This also includes her mom

Meta I HATE these posts

Post image
8.4k Upvotes

I keep seeing this and its SO annoying. Just because you're a part of a specific minority group doesn't mean you should go out of your way to take a giant shit on whatever you might be a part of. And stop grouping everyone together and acting like you're the arbiter of what is and isn't good for your community!

I swear I've seen like a million of these, and it goes for literally every minority group out there.

The thing that upsets me most about it is the constant reassurance to the reader that the OP isn't a bigot at all! Specifying that they're a part of it over and over and constantly saying they really aren't hateful while simultaneously writing several paragraphs breaking down how my the personality of their certain niche or minority group acts as if they're some sort of white knight fighting against the horrors of people finding things interesting.

Meta Bubble Wrap Comments

Post image

I have an immense amount of hatred towards beings that post these spoiler text bubble wraps in comment sections and pretend like they’ve done everyone me, just me, a solid.

No you little dip shit, you didn’t have a silly idea by putting this in the comments and no one is happy to see these. The only thing you did was contributing absolutely nothing to the conversation and bloat the comment section with a huge wall of spoiler text, that just prevents everyone iOS users from scrolling by, because FUCKING REDDIT OF COURSE THINKS I WANT TO POP THE VIRTUAL BUBBLE WRAP! YOU CAN SHOVE YOUR PRECIOUS BUBBLE WRAP UP YOUR BUTTHOLE AND EAT SHIT YOU PRETENTIOUS LUMP OF LARD!

Meta I hate when people take serious words and censor them in a stupid way

Post image
14.6k Upvotes

I get that censorship rules on sites like TikTok and YouTube are terrible, and that the slightest offensive content gets taken down, but it grates my gears whenever I see someone talking about a serious topic but they censor any serious words.

Imo, it’s incredibly disrespectful to the topic you’re talking about. imagine being a rape survivor and someone says to you “I’m so sorry you were graped” or watching a true crime documentary and the narrator said “and then the victim was unalived by a pew pew.” I wouldn’t be able to take anything the person said seriously after that. Intentional or not it’s a mockery of those topics.

It’s especially worse with YouTube video, especially among the thousands of copy past commentary YouTubers. The person talking is always like “oh I have to censor this word or I’ll get demonetized“ FUCK OFF. If you’re so worried about not making money that you’re going to disrespect serious topics, just don’t talk about them. Topics like rape and suicide deserve to be discussed with sincerity and turning it into some silly goofy word pisses me off to no end.

Meta I hate how people treat Charlie (MoistCrit1kal) online

Post image
4.5k Upvotes

I'm going on this rant after his latest video where he addresses some of the critiscism people threw at him for his video about the H3H3 vs iDubbz controversy, which i won't dive into. It's just sime drama between two washed up creators.

And i'm not here to whiteknight for Charlie, i'll explain at the end.

Basically there are three main points that people criticize Charlie for, one is fine and the other two are complete bullshit.

The fine one: "He's a sloptuber"

Yes, he's the textbook definition of sloptuber, he churns out 2 or 3 daily videos talking about the most random topics possible. But at the very least he adds some personality to it instead of being your standard commentary channel that just roboticly spits summaries of what they read on the news.

The two bullshit ones:

"He just parrots the opinion 90% of people share to pander to the largesr audience possible"

No, he has just normal opinions that a normal person has. He isn't in need of farming views and reactions (good or negative) by having the stupidest opinion possible on something to feel smart.

He doesn't need to say that Cuties is a subversive masterpiece, he can just say it's softcore CP. He doesn't need to say that Elon Musk is some unrecognized genius of our time, he can just say that he's a cringe loser. He doesn't need to say that Trump is some political hero or 5D chess master, he can just say that he's a senile geriatric old fart.

"He's a fence sitter, so he doesn't offend anyone"

This is what always grinded my gears the most because if you think this, it's obvious you never watch anyone of his videos.

It doesn't even take any form of media literacy, you literally need just the abilty to pick up soundwaves and process them in your brain to understand where he stands on every single topic he talks about.

But of course with the modern internet landscape, if you don't have the most extreme take, on any side, of something, then you're a fence sitter.

And to make the point i alluded at the start, why did i make this post?

Again, not to whiteknight for him, Charlie is a big man, he doesn't need some random loser on Reddit to defend him, but to vent. Vent about the state of the internet.

I've been following Charlie for years now. Why? Because he's just a guy.

He doesn't try to put up a performance or be controversial for the sake of views.

And this is what makes me mad, people are so used to losers like Asmongold, Sneako, Hasan and so long and so forth, that the moment a dude is just chilling and uploading content that isn't extremist or pandering to someone it's controversial.

I'm the same age as Charlie, and that is the Internet i grew up on, just people being people. But now it's not fine anymore, you either wear a mask and go fight in immaginary wars for a faction brainwashed by other content creators, or you're shunned by the web.

It's sad the state of the Internet today. Sorry for the long rant, had to get it out of me.

As a fairly alternative person, I can’t STAND when dudes say this shit. Not only is it objectification of goth/alternative women, it’s complete mischaracterisation of women who actually follow this style. When guys say they want a “goth girlfriend” they don’t mean an actual goth girl, they mean an OF e-girl who wears black. Anyways, happy hatings

Plus there are so many European inventions and innovations that are important to history, like I don't know, penicilin? submarines? telescopes? SPACE SUITS? THE WORLD WIDE FUCKING WEB!?

Meta I hate Tung Tung Sahur because it represents one of the worst parts of the AI discourse in my opinion

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

The thing I hate about this is that it represents that people who hate AI will be completely down to support it so long as it’s funny.

They’ll laugh at something like this, and glaze it to death and then go on Twitter the next day and bitch about people who love ai. You are part of the problem!

And then people try to make the argument that people draw this thing by hand, and that makes it okay. Like it’s some kind of “revolution”

No. You’re just making excuses to enjoy a creation of AI. I don’t care how many people draw it, I don’t care how well it’s drawn or what it’s used in, it’s AI. It is a creation of AI. It comes from a person who used/uses AI. It doesn’t matter.

Someone could make a really nice portrait of a shitty person, that doesn’t make said person good. It doesn’t “revolutionise” how this person is. At the end of the day, they were a bad person, and if anything, you are contributing to creating this idea that the person was actually good.

It really shows to me that people who shit on AI are totally willing to throw away their beliefs so long as the subject is funny to them. Take an actual fucking stance instead of flip flopping depending on whether or not the subject is funny/popular.

And on a side note: Ignoring the AI stuff, it’s not even funny. I legitimately think less of people who find this thing funny.

Meta I hate the mytologisation of Japan on Reddit. ESPECIALLY when it comes to the food.

Thumbnail

2.0k Upvotes

As someone who's lived in Japan going on 5 years and has eaten everything from fine dining to fast food slop. Japan has some of the blandest cuisine on the planet. Do you like the flavour profiles of: salty, salty, very salty or bland? Japan might be the place for you.

People also spout "but the quality of ingredients" as the reasoning for why the food needs to taste like shoe soles. When in reality the fruits and vegetables here are trash at premium prices since nothing grows here naturally. I don't know what kind of exclusively processed food diet a lot of people here grew up with that Japanese food is a revelation to them.

Japan is great and all, but goddamn, it's not even the best place to visit in Asia.

that op made me mad glazing over racism and putting taylor swift with actual rapists and going on some rant about a conspiracy theory. here is some truly heinous people that continue to get away with bullshit. I tried to be really diverse but unsurprisingly women do not get away with the bullshit men do. PLEASE DO comment the women who have committed terrible crimes and gotten away with it socially, legally, and/or economically. but also pay your dues and include any man that immediately came to mind.
Chris Brown — should be known for beating Rihanna.
James Charles — should be known for being a pedophile.
Donald Trump — should be known for being a pedophilic rapist, a vitriolic racist, and a threat to the US Constitution.
Anna Delvey — should be known for scamming people and then making money off her scandal.
Snoop Dog — should be known for being an actual pimp and a conservative bootlicker.
Johnny Depp — should be known for torturing his ex and being an all around creep.
ALSO STOP GIVING ATTENTION TO THESE WEIRDOS!!! ik that’s ironic coming from me but please stop giving them views and money.

Meta I hate how mindlessly "leftist" major subreddits are with no nuance or actual productive discussion on politics

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

Don't get me wrong I am absolutely leftist but reddit has this super one dimensional idea that "left good, right bad" that's obviously karma farming like 99% of the time. Specific subreddits (im sure you can think of some) that don't even have anything to do with politics have been overran with one "america bad israel bad" post after another. Normally id be cool with it if it didn't border on authoritarian in the way that any criticism or productive critiques of reddits aggressively stereotypical far leftist "dance the right away!" ideals usually gets met with 500 downvotes and a permaban. Its like 99% bots anyways but I swear im so tired of every subreddit getting flooded with these hivemind posts, nothing in politics is black and white people. Getting karma on a social media site does not equal fighting back against authoritarianism or discrimination, it just makes you look pathetic and performative, which is what you are.

Meta I hate it whenever I find a non-political subreddit that's full of political posts.

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

Seriously, if you want to get any upvotes on them, no effort is required. Just post something with Donald Trump's face on it, and wait. It's so frustrating, not only because they really shouldn't be in that sub sometimes, but because they can be literally everywhere. I can name at least three or even four subs that are suffering from that problem. Not even my home page is safe, as it keeps getting flooded with these kinds of posts no matter what. It's so stressful and annoying.

I get that some things about politics suck, but can you please not complain about it literally everywhere?

Meta I hate when Headcanons/interpretations are worded as if they’re fact.

Post image
3.5k Upvotes

I don’t mind someone having an interpretation of a scene. My issue comes when they comment on it as if their interpretation is the correct one.

Just recently I saw a post about Avatar the last airbender where someone had the headcanon that the reason why the firebenders attacked the Southern Water Tribe when Katara was a child was because they were looking for Hama, and that she was the waterbender they had heard about. Now that’s a fine headcanon, I don’t agree with it, but it’s fine. What I didn’t like was that they worded it as if this was a big intended plot twist, instead of just them coming to their own conclusions based on what they thought would be cooler.

And the interpretation above, saying that Tony’s arc reactor being stolen is an allegory for SA. But nothing in the scene really alludes to that. Sure, Obadiah is uncomfortably close to Tony the whole time, but he does that throughout the entire movie, it’s a part of his performance. And nothing he says actually connects with this interpretation, it’s just Obadiah saying that Tony is selfish and revealing that he was the one who put the hit on him. And yet, obviously we need to word the interpretation as if it’s a fact.

Outside of it just being obnoxious, it also just confuses me. By stating it as a fact, it makes me question whether I actually have my own knowledge right or not. It makes think I’ve missed out on some content or second guess my own knowledge on the media when really you’re just pulling stuff out of nowhere.

Meta I really dislike arguments like this

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

I never really thought I’d be posting here, but I hope that I could find some people who relate, Like I understand yes sometimes they can get hate just because they’re a female like in the photo, he is the one who married to Walter White.

was completely justifying being upset but I feel like this is constantly apply to every single female character, to the point that they refuse to even look at what the character has done or their actions like whenever, I go onto the favorite character subreddit I can’t see seeing post like this or comments like this like your favorite character does not hate,

it because a woman know they hate it because of this reason or this reason you can find reasons to dislike a character for any reason or action they do but they always treated like it’s fact is gently annoying and whenever you try to point it out they start to get frustrated with you and angry with you one the reasons why I stopped visiting the favorite character subreddit what do you all think? Am I overreacting?

2.4k Upvotes

Not even hating on people I just FUCKING HATE THE SMELL and the companies spamming this shit! like I'm not a puritan but with this vaping and smoking in general why not ingest it instead??????

And with Alcohol like it's not THAT bad but the general Ethos pushed as it's how to party or that it's cool hell that it just is good when it's not!!! I'm not against it I'm a HATER to how it exists in general informational consciousness today!!!

Saw people drown in alcohol and it's depressing even when they brag because they were pushed into this corner from a Greed filled Draconian over Lord of Knowledge and trends

I believe the sentiment of Prohibition affects alcohol even today because after it was relieved everybody bought it (even during) and it created an echo affect of people drowning in liquor)

I HATE HEINEKEN AND ALL OF THEM however most Cannabis sellers I believe to be completely justified as you can buy cigarettes easily, I'm not against these as a whole just how it exists in post war on drugs and prohibition society (specifically America this is about America my bad rest of the world)

Hope this doesn't break any rules!!!!! First time posting I just hope y'all get it
