It’s probably one of the unfunniest things to have come out of the internet; in fact, this lobotomized excuse for “humor” is the single most moronic, sister-kissing, unschooled joke I’ve ever had the misfortune of being exposed to. My brain cells are deteriorating at a rapid rate just by forcing myself to even temporarily tolerate this nauseating study on the death of joy and whimsy.
In a thousand years, when man unearths our primitive technology from the dust and debris, the remnants of the god shaggy trend will be displayed in a museum. Behind its glass prison, it will be displayed not as a testament to our achievements, but rather as something to recoil from. It will be placed beside medieval torture devices and accounts of the pinnacle of human cruelty, because God Shaggy has no place being regarded as something to flaunt. It is something to be ashamed of.
And when even that museum crumbles, and its spoils are unearthed yet again, hopefully the new generation will finally cauterize the wound left by this ruptured plague boil of a joke.
It is not revolutionary or even mildly humorous. There are no nostril-flaring exhales or even the quirk of lips; there is only misery and despair that follows in the wake of this fetal alcohol syndrome of a trend. It is the mold in a container of strawberries, slowly eating away at everything around it until all that is left is the festering sludge of fur and the rank stench of decay.
God Shaggy is the epitome of the dead internet. It is a blight, festering in the recesses of internet archives and occasionally spawning equally unfunny creations. It spews rot in the infected gash left by its birth, unrelenting as it elevates another weak creature to godhood; yet this godhood is false, built on a throne of lies and soldered by the short-lived flame of irony.
Genuinely, the fact that this stupid fucking joke got so popular will never not baffle me, because it makes slop that is unanimously regarded as dogshit look like it was the utter pinnacle of human creation; because God Shaggy is the utter pinnacle of anti intellectualism. It makes annoying orange look like a deeply philosophical staple of high culture, that is how comparatively dogshit it is. You will find more cultural impact from a bad wattpad fanfic than you will from the God Shaggy trend, because at least the wattpad fanfic—as poorly as it may be written—has some effort put into it; God Shaggy is just completely and utterly braindead. There isn’t a single redeeming quality that this shit has, and the mere suggestion that it does is an insult to all sensibility.
I have seen the aftermath of a toddler spaghetti-o tantrum with more originality and merit than this mistake of a joke. Oh, Shaggy but he’s secretly godlike and blah blah blah? Wow, I’ve totally never seen that before; it’s almost like it’s one of the most exhausted jokes imaginable!
I hate God Shaggy. It was never funny.
Edit: so since I can’t HATE BLINDLY, here is a copy-paste of actual reasons for why I dislike this meme
It was an overused meme, one that was already a pretty bland joke from conception. The, “weak character is actually strong,” joke is already one I dislike, just because it’s uninspired and pretty much just powerscaling fodder; something I also vehemently dislike, because it tends to just be a, “which character I like more,” jerking fest.
And for Shaggy, it wasn’t JUST, “what if weak character strong?” no, it was basically, “how overpowered can we make this dude?”
And I HATE overpowered characters. I don’t like any of them, because they end up being reduced ENTIRELY to being strong. So when you try to talk about ANYONE, someone would come in regurgitating how strong Saitama or Goku or whoever is.
It’s exhausting.
It was also because I’ve never been fond of Scooby Doo. I didn’t grow up with it being considered a staple of my childhood, and so I have no nostalgia blinding my view on it. I don’t care for Shaggy; I think he’s just your run-of-the-mill foodie stoner guy.
Combine an already boring character with an even more boring trope, especially one as excessively pushed as the Ultra Instinct thing (I also don’t like DBZ), and it ends up being a mediocre joke that overstayed its welcome by a long shot.
Is that enough reasons why?
Oh, and no, this was not written with AI. Gotten a few accusations about that.
