I got my fiancée a Hatsune Miku CUBEFACE. The only app for it is Bilibili's own app. It weirdly requires it to be in Chinese to work, even though it can be used in English, needs an account, and it's a giant app just to change what her cube's face looks like. I'm a software engineer, so I sniffed the Bluetooth traffic, worked out the protocol, and wrote a replacement. APK on GitHub:APK

It does what you'd actually want from it: change the face on the cube, or upload and crop your own image onto it. Plus alarms, custom danmaku, and firmware theme switching. In English, no account, no data sent anywhere.

Here's where I could use help. The cube is supposed to play different animations depending on the time of day. Mine always plays the first slot no matter what time it is, and I genuinely can't tell whether that's just how the device behaves, or something I broke early on. My cube has been written to hundreds of times while reverse engineering this, so its factory settings are long gone.

If your cube is new, or you've only ever used the Bilibili app with it, you're exactly who I need. In my app: connect, then Settings → Copy device data, and paste the result into a GitHub issue or DM me. It's read-only — it copies six small config files to your clipboard and writes nothing to the cube, so it can't disturb whatever state yours is in.

Comparing even two untouched cubes would tell me more than my own ever will. Until then, the animation selection screen stays view-only in the app so nobody's schedule gets corrupted.

Finally, I know sideloading has become a thing on iOS, so if there's any interest, I can try to do some work there too; however, I had to write some native code on the Android side because of how weird the cube-to-app handshake is. So would have to write native iOS code for that.
