I'm watching for the first time (& doing my absolute best to avoid spoilers), but I just need to rant about my deep hatred for Brody. I understand Carrie was a mess and was undoubtedly WAY out of line most of the time, but the fact that the audience knows she's right and everyone else is under this misguided impression that Brody isn't a terrorist (and gaslights the hell out of Carrie for it) is such a mindfuck to me. Carrie's instincts were right for day one and I want some redemption for my girl.

The part that truly does it for me is in the season 1 finale, after Brody's s-vest malfunctions and he's finally fixed it and the only reason he doesn't set it off that second time is because his daughter calls?! Weird but okay, let's go with it. You'd think that that would be the moment he'd realize, I can be a convert and grieve Issa but I also have children who need a father. Children who will have to live with being related to a terrorist for the rest of their lives if I go thru with this. Instead he offers to be Nazir's congressional errand-boy? That is so unbelievably selfish and is the ultimate betrayal to his family. Everything immediately leading up to his bargain with Nazir and his decision to kill Tom Walker, I could have excused as the aftereffects of torture and re-integration issues. But that bargain was the exact moment he decided to become a terrorist imo and once again proves Carrie right.

Really I just feel bad for our girl because it's a catch 22: the more right she is, the more crazy she seems. I'm at the part in S2E01 where Carrie overhears Saul talking to David about how crazy she is and how much neither of them want her in the field and she's telling Saul that she now can't even trust her own judgement because she "got it wrong" about Brody. Meanwhile, this man is literally stealing target names from David safe, like girl bye. From season 1, the Marine 1 & 2 thing and realizing that Walker missed on purpose? Brilliant. But she talks super fast so Saul tries to have her detained. Brody really was really trying to kill the VP but going to his house and chasing his daughter around the yard? yikes. What about the fact that she cant even say Nazir's name without red flags and alarms going off for David and Saul, meanwhile the man is actively plotting with Brody. The good ole boy network is just too committed to the idea of Brody's herodom when in reality there are several moments where Carrie is actually just making logical sense . Poor girl - I'd probably look crazy too in those conditions.

Anyway, I realize I have a ways to go and I will be continuing to watch but atp I'll be watching for no other reason than to root for Brody's downfall.

Just rewatching the show and currently half way through season 7, I'm wondering wtf happened to Carrie's bank account. Can someone explain to me why tf is she so broke??? Is there some sort of explanation I've missed? For someone with such career and after working in the Whitehouse last season you'd expect her to have some spare cash.

During the 4th Season Saul is kidnapped. He tells Carrie over the phone that he would rather die than be part of a prisoner exchange with the Taliban. He repeatedly threatens to kill himself so this does not happen. Carrie lies to him so he stays alive.

When the prisoners are exchanged Saul gets all dramatic and refuses to stand up. He's still trying to block the trade. He'd rather die. At the end of the season we find out that Dar has made a deal with Haqquani which involves him being taken off the kill list. In the end we see that Saul, who would rather die than be traded for Talliban prisoners is ok with making a deal with Haqquani because it will prevent the video being released and save his career.

How does this make any sense at all? First Saul is willing to die for the cause. After he is rescued he sells his soul to save his CIA career. WTF is going on with him?

I could care less about this Dana arc. Crazy how Dana never stops for a second to think about how her brother might be taking all this in. and she acts like her mother isn’t going through anything at all.

WOAH that was a lot! I’m not sure I like the ending, or that Carrie writes her own book.
I get it she had to make up for the whole asset/Saul mess but wtf. She was way out of line for doing all that…poor Anna. I’m sure Saul would have found another way. Also- how fcked up to leave your daughter like that after making us go through seasons of “I’m gonna leave this behind” and fights with Super mom Maggie and Saint Bill over custody.
Idk somethings not right.
Still probably the best show I’ve ever seen. Could have watched 10 seasons more.

First off I love this show - Carrie is a compelling antihero and an interesting character - really good at her job but also makes a lot of hatable decisions. Also I’m obsessed with Saul and Quinn.

I finished the fourth season and I’m wondering if the CIA in this show is actually good at their jobs? It seems like the terrorists always have the upper hand. Yes, Carrie is usually right or has a good hunch (she’s right about Brody / she realizes Haqqani has a bigger plan) but they never actually figure out what it is until it’s too late and something massively catastrophic happens. Carrie seems good at her job but the CIA as an entity seems to always miss the ball.

How did you feel during this twist, and how did you make sense of what happened?
I immediately thought Dar Adal was on the other side when Carrie spotted him in Haqqani's car. Then, seeing Saul on Dar's patio made it clear that Saul knew about it all along.
What is it exactly? From what I understand, the CIA/Dar made a direct deal with Haqqani (taking him off the kill list). Saul went along with it to get back into power? Carrie simply couldn't accept Saul making peace with the terrorist who just murdered their colleagues. How did you react to this scene?

I know a lot has been said about Carrie's impulsiveness and doing things her own. And while I agree that she's mostly right and her character adds so much to the series, I think it can get annoying sometimes.

So Quinn is already prepared to kill Haqqani and has gone great lengths to do so. And here come Carrie trying to dissuade him like that's not usually her whole character arc. So she talks him down from blowing up the car, fine. We agree, let sleeping dogs lie.

Then suddenly, she's pulling out her pistol to try to shoot him when she's in the middle of the crowd, which will certainly lead to her death.

My point is, why try to control people when your whole shtick is being uncontrollable.

And don't even get me started on the last scene, where it is shown that Dar Adal is in the car with him. He could burn in hell for all I care.

Starting in season 2 every scene with the daughter Dana makes me nauseous. Her general demeanor takes away from the show.

I was rewatching Iron man 2008 for fun after the latest spider-man movie, and just realized that our old evil friend Javadi was playing a nice guy who basically saves and inspires the Iron man. What a surprise lol. Then Fara also showed up as a frontline reporter!

She doesn't work for the CIA. But she turns up wherever the story is. Is she like a floating German embassy worker?

I'm currently in season 4, near the end, and even if I don't know what happens later on with Saul in the series. Based on just the attack and loss of lives, I'd say that the prisoner exchange should never have happened.

It wasn't worth it at all. You could argue that Haqqani already had his plans since, but it wouldn't have been (as) successful if Saul was killed.

Am i tripping or is saul really just a selfish A h*l* , idk if his wife left him yet , took a big break from the show but he deserves it . Done carrie so dirty over the years . Lmk if im tripping please

I watched this series all the way through as it was airing. Always excited for the next episode.

Here is what I am referring to: Season 8, Episode 12. Carrie uses a chemical agent to completely paralyze Saul. She has Russian operatives lay his stiff, helpless body flat on his back in his own bed. Standing directly over him, she threatens to execute him with a lethal injection to his toe unless he gives up his top-secret intelligence asset. Saul refuses to break.

As they were putting him on the bed, I was losing it. This completely blew me away. And I have always wondered if the writers did this intentionally. Or if there is an interview anywhere that the actor Mandy Patinkin discusses this.

EDIT: My bad. I thought everybody knew that scene was the exact same famous scene from that move he was in Princess Bride. I was just wondering if it was intentional.

From beginning to end I see nothing good about this man. He treats people like garbage, lies, and manipulates. Somehow he never gets caught for it. This is someone you'd expect to be cheerfully killed off pretty early in the series, but he lasts...

Just finished season 2, starting season 3. Spoilers for S2.

In the scene where Abu Nazir is holding Carrie hostage and calls Brody over Skype asking for Walden's pacemaker serial number — how does nobody else find out about this? The CIA had Brody under surveillance and his phones tapped because of his history. Only Carrie and Brody seem to know this call happened. Wouldn't the agency have picked up on it, given how closely he was being watched?

Am I missing something from earlier episodes that explains this? Trying not to overthink it before jumping into S3

In real life, would there be a movement to pardon Carrie at the end of the show? If so, what would it look like? Would that movement be successful?

Javadi feels like the ‘Othersides’ equivalent to Brody. I hated him in the first season he was in but then grew to like him and thought he was hilarious. He had such a dark wit to him.

I know the series finale was well received. But it was mid at best for me. I wonder how Carrie spying for Saul will work out. Russians are soon going to realize someone is leaking intelligence to the US. Who is going to be suspect number one? Well, it should be Carrie!

Can they question and break her? Easy! Withhold her meds. They have done it in the past. They can do it again. At best, she can run this operation for a couple of months.

Are you guys seeing something that I am apparently missing?

I thought that the show started to get a bit stale during season 2 but WOW! What a way to end the season and I'm now up at 3 o'clock ready for the next episode!!! Also I'm really hoping Saul starts to get the good end of the stick. Love him as a character but he is getting done so dirty
