Verified by mods SEEKING HOME EDUCATED UK ALUMNI AGE 18-25YRS (MODERATOR APPROVED)

Hello all, I am hoping to find young adults who have experienced BOTH mainstream UK school and home education at some stage in their lives to answer a few questions about their educational experience if they are happy to share.

My name is Clare, I am a student at the University of Exeter and have ethical permission to do this research. I am hoping to give young adults the chance to share their perspective retrospectively, as most current research has been done with parents currently home educating their teens. My research aims to consider the benefits and challenges children have faced in their education, focusing on those who have experience of both mainstream school and home ed, as they are in a unique position and I feel it is important for their voices to be heard retrospectively. All information gathered will be anonymous and deleted once the study is complete.

If anyone would be willing to answer a few questions (either via email/reddit chat or a team's chat), please contact me on here or via my email address c d 7 9 0 at exeter.ac.uk where I will send you some more study info (withdrawal/consent form etc) and some email questions for you to answer in your own time (10mins depending on how much you want to share). There is no obligation to take part but I would love to hear your perspective if you fit the criteria and are happy to share.

Thank you.

Call to Action: Share your resources, writeups/guides, and success stories for our new Community Guide

Hello everyone!

Following the recent feedback request (and thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts!), we’ve decided to create a community guide: an easy-to-access hub filled with resources for current and former homeschool students navigating the many struggles we run into, both big and small. We have a loose structure in mind already, but we need help from all of you to make it something truly useful.

More specifically, we’re looking for resources, writeups, guides, personal experiences, and success stories from the community. I’ll be putting together as much as I can myself, but there are many experiences you all have had that I never will, and perspectives I simply can’t speak to.

If there’s an online resource that helped you catch up academically, pursue your GED, apply to college, build social skills, learn basic life skills, or otherwise move forward after homeschooling, please share it. If you know of crisis lines, support organizations, educational tools, or anything else that could help someone in a difficult situation, we’d love to include those too.

And personal stories matter just as much. If you went from not knowing how to boil water to being able to cook for yourself, or from being isolated to building friendships and independence, your experience could really help someone else feel less alone and more hopeful.

You can share resources and writeups in the comments below. If you’d prefer to stay anonymous or not be directly credited, feel free to message modmail (send a DM to r/homeschoolrecovery), and we’ll include your contribution anonymously.

Just as importantly, this guide needs to serve the whole community. Even if you don’t have a resource to contribute, please speak up if there’s something you struggled with/are still struggling with that you wish there had been a guide, or resource for. If there’s something missing from the planned structure below, or something you think should be included, let us know in the comments or via modmail.

Here's a rough idea of what the planned structure for the guide is now. If there's something you feel is missing, please speak up in the comments or send a DM to r/homeschoolrecovery

  1. Start Here/Welcome/Introduction

Brief introduction to the subreddit, what it's about, who it's for, table of contents

  2. Immediate safety/abuse resources

Resources for child abuse, domestic violence, crisis lines, runaway/youth shelters, how to contact CPS, digital safety/privacy

Possibly also define what abuse is, since a lot of abuse victims don't necessarily believe they're being abused

  3. Mental health/trauma resources

Crisis resources, guides to seeking therapy/finding the right therapist, religious trauma resources, support groups

  4. Educational resources

khan academy and other educational material organized by age group and subject, GED resources, college prep resources, higher education resources i.e. fafsa, trade schools, online colleges, adult literacy programs, et, even just "how to find and apply for colleges"

  5. Life skills/"how to adult"

Budgeting, hygiene, cooking, job applications, email etiquette, how to find an apartment, transportation, how to find healthcare, stuff like that

  6. Socialization/"finding community"

Meetups, hobby groups, volunteering groups, community discords, adult ed classes, neurodivergent resources, etc.

  7. Advocacy/homeschool reform

Link to CRHE, how to find and contact your legislators, etc.

  8. Hear from other homeschoolers

Links to success stories on the subreddit, books by former homeschoolers i.e. Tara Westover, Stefan Block, etc.

rant/vent I hate being homeschooled

My parents aren't bad homeschool parents like they educate me and are not pushing any religious stuff into the education but they keep saying school is dangerous and telling me propaganda about school being dangerous and reading news articles about school stabbings and demonizing school.

EDIT: I found out that my country is tightening homeschool regulations

rant/vent It's so hard.

Upvotes

Hey, just started 9th grade. Been homeschooled my entire life, I had a very bad education where basically lover. Would hand me 3-4 worksheets to complete (they were mainly just math and like english) and leave me to do them independently. Yeah, with infinite technology access 😐 could cheat so easily. There were also periods where i would go months without doing anything school related or productive at all. I had no form of socialization at all it was mainly just online friends from roblox or something. Well this year is different I guess, im on a real highschool online program where there is actual teachers and counselors and grades etc. I hate it. I cannot do everything digitally I just can't. I'm such a hands on Learner, I learn best with the actual sensory experiences and not through a glowing screen. I even have digital lab, which is the worst because I actually love chemistry and science a lot so the fact that I won't be able to do real in person experiments is so upsetting to me ☹️. My socialization now is different I get out once a week or once every few weeks for youth group, I have real friends now that I text. However my family moves so much to the point where I know I'm going to have to leave them behind in like 4 months or so. So even if I were to go to public school my transcript would be so bad cause of how often I move. I just discovered this sub and I'm so glad to see so many people who have been through or is still going through something similar makes me feel less alone. a few days ago I got mistreated by a friend(s) for the first time in my entire life and it was kids from my neighborhood, when we first moved in they were so sweet and nice, I remember during the summer they would knock on the door everyday so my younger brothers and I could hangout. Well the switch up of the century happened and they ignored us out of nowhere, becoming rude and won't talk to me anymore walking or riding right past me while I'm outside. But has been specially rude to my brothers, i literally had no idea what i did wrong it was just out of nowhere. And I cried because of how behind and pathetic I felt (they were like 4 years younger then me) I felt so behind caring so much about a group of kids. Idk it's just hard but I'm doing a little better now, I just wanted to know if anyone can relate or have similar stories so I can feel less like a loser.

I made the mistake of arguing in the comments on a pro-homeschool post, so now my algorithms have decided I must want to see 30+ posts of homeschooling nonsense a day. I'd like to fill my feed with the real truth, and share the actual statistics. Please send me your recs. (Or do you guys want to make our own groups?!)

18+ please, the only minors I interact with on social media are ones I'm close to irl

rant/vent I'm overwhelmed by just thinking about my life.

I'm 7 years behind as a teen. Especially on math. I'm at a 2nd grade level on math, I have zero clues about everything else. Thinking about all the subjects I need to teach myself and also trying to figure out how I can improve my mental health and get hobbies so I can be less isolated is so hard. I'm still just an older kid. I'm still seriously nervous like it's my first time seeing the world. I don't like my way of living but there's nothing I can do yet. I hate spending all my time on a computer, it doesn't make me feel good. But I can't stop because there's nothing better I can do. I want friends, I want to find a hobby, I want to have it all figured out and just be able to calm down. I've spent all my time focusing on the wrong things but it's how I might as well have been raised. I lost my friends and lost even a chance at being in ''school'' And after that, it was just screens. I used to be really pale because I wouldn't get outside up from like 9 until 11 years old. I wouldn't take care of myself properly even at 11 because my parents were neglecting me and wouldn't let me out in public for months. I hadn't learned to brush my own hair so it was a mess, and they punished me for it. That's how it felt. They didn't let me see PEOPLE. I cried daily, I'm 14 now and it's gotten better I guess. Now my only problem is how much I've missed out and how ANGRY I am at my parents. It's all I focus on, why would they do this to me. Why did they homeschool me, why am I being neglected still now. Why did they want me so badly just for me to be miserable. Why'd they have me. Why did they continue to let me cut myself. Why didn't they get me therapy. Why am I 14 and recovering from everything on my own. I'm scared and confused. I've gone through so much and I'm alone. It's affecting my ability to be happy and do school work so I can get caught up. It's affecting my confidence and everything about me. I want to go to school but I have so many problems that I still think about. I don't know where to start, I've stopped hurting myself and tried to stay calm so I can focus better and it doesn't work. It might be my attention span from using the internet as a way to get away but I should have enough motivation to sit through learning?? It's what I want. I want to learn, I want to get caught up. But I don't do anything but get angry and sad when I try and then make mistakes on basic stuff.

rant/vent Feeling trapped right now and a bit depressed I suppose

I got sick last Saturday and couldn't go to my older brother's house which was extremely inconvenient as I had a bunch of documented evidence and wanted to talk with him to possibly fix my current situation to be better. I go on September 10th instead but the days leading up feel so slow and I feel trapped and a bit depressed.

Fuck sickness, I'm already healed but I could've gotten this achieved sooner. 🫩

The reason I needed to gather evidence and such is my mother is quite unstable mentally and well I would suppose neglectful and isn't letting me go back to public school ON TOP OF OTHER THINGS so I'm just fatigued.

I also don't have any energy to do the school work she makes

Yawn I wish I could go sleep in an alternate universe. As stupid as it sounds I wish I could go to a weirdcore world or liminal space and just sleep. I'm getting tired of people's shenanigans including my mother's.

rant/vent My mom accepts that my kid is in public school, and it's agony

My kid has been in public school her whole life, she's a freshman in highschool now. I was the first one of my siblings to put their kid in public school. My older brother homeschooled his two kids, and I put mine in public school from the jump.

My mom never gave a single bit of pushback, as if putting your kid in public school and keeping them there was a no brainer.

... This woman who argued with me and used fear to keep me from the public school that I **begged her for**, for YEARS... I got to experience kindergarten. And I frikkin loved it. I wanted to go back... I had a friend at that school... I wasn't allowed.  I begged on and off into my highschool years, when I finally realized I was probably woefully behind, on top of the other fears that were instilled in me.

I have watched my daughter have a normal school childhood experience for all of these years, all of things things I desperately wanted and was deliberately kept from ...  And I am SO over the moon happy for her, LOVE that I was able to give her the childhood I should have had, or closer to it anyway... But omg the grief.

And when I share those happy things with my mom as I'm filling her in on the family update, and I'm feeling my own hit of grief but also genuinely loving that my daughter is getting these things that I didn't get... And she just casually replies, shares her own similar public school experience... And it just... Kills me.

I almost wish she would have argued with me, ever, maybe then I win her over and we move on, but... The casual acceptance... After arguing with me about MY life when I was school aged... Wtf ??

My daughter just joined an elective that she's really excited about, for instance, and I was telling my mom about it and how excited my kid is for this class, and how good it is for her, etc... and then my mom's reply is, "Oh yeah I was in that elective too when I was in highschool! It was so much fun! I got to learn A/B/C new skills and make some really great friends and... Yada yada... "

And I'm feeling like im this weird outsider in my own kids life AND my mom's life...just weird little me in the middle going "wtf 🤷🏼‍♀️"... Like... Damn, mom, that sure sounds like a real awesome time you both got to experience... Sounds really fucking nice, tbh... Sure wish I had highschool memories to relate to my own kid with 👍🏼

You mean that getting to do things with kids your own age and around things that aren't about God or politics is like... Just a normal thing people can do?? And you knew that THIS WHOLE TIME??

And I'm just here in the middle SO happy for my baby, and so struck with grief for myself, and my mom is just casually lalala with it and I just... Want to scream. And cry. And I am, literally, tears streaming down my face right now as I write this. Which I did not expect when I started writing 😂

Thanks for listening to me scream, I guess, lol...

Just... Why, you guys? Why? .... Just fucking why ?

progress/success I just bought online classes for my GED!

I’ve been putting off tests and I have a hard time asking for help, I always have, especially anything school related.
Today I scheduled my social studies test and bought online classes for math and science. Im feeling very nervous due to the fact that this has been an emotional process for me and feeling almost never ending. I am seeing light at the end of tunnel. I have found this subreddit incredibly healing and inspiring reading about all the people who have had similar experiences or who are currently going through it
Thank you all for listening
Any advice for the social studies test in preparation? Anything is useful and I appreciate it.

I'm choosing to remember somebody from here they were a few years older than me and we were friends before my old account was hacked he chose to be a bigot and then the person who replaced him chose to be racist and I still miss both of them.

I still remember her name her face her story.

Same goes for him.

So whoever you are reading this, I will keep missing you even if I don't quite remember your face

how do i basic Might not be too late for me

Hey yall, I just turned 17 a few days ago, I've been homeschooled since I was barely 10, I literally do not know or hangout with anyone except my family who consist of 4 people, we always moved houses and never stayed in 1 place longer than a few years.

I had horrible social skills and could not talk to anyone or hold a conversation, but then I got a job at starbucks as soon as I turned 16, and I can basically hold conversation for a while and joke around, and basically act how I usually act with no issues now. The thing is, everyone I work with is older and are probably uncomfortable with being friends with someone my age, so I can't do that either.

I'm currently doing homeschooling but am late of 1 year so going back to an in person school could be an option but everyone around me would be a little bit younger, I keep practicing talking and holding conversations with customers which helps me a lot, so social skills arent the issue anymore, I just dont know where to go to make friends.

rant/vent Worried About Homeschooled Niece

I have a 9 year old niece, we’ll call her Emma, who was recently taken out of public school by her parents due to some social anxiety and have started homeschooling her. I am greatly concerned for her wellbeing, as well as that of my brother and his wife, for a few reasons.

Firstly, to be quite direct, they are poor. My brother works a shitty food service job 6 days a week and my sister-in-law makes very little money working for a nonprofit and travels a lot. They simply don’t have the money to be able to make the time to meet Emma’s educational needs, at least not without completely burning themselves out. They have help from their friends and neighbors, but I’m not sure it’s enough.

Another big concern of mine is related to Emma’s mental health. She is a very anxious child, and I strongly suspect that she may have OCD and/or an anxiety disorder. I am not a child psychologist, but I have personal experience with these disorders and recognize a lot of my own experiences at that age in her. Unfortunately, Emma’s parents don’t have the resources to be able to pay for the therapy she needs. Despite the fact that school counselors are spread pretty thin in the public school system, if Emma were still in school at least she would have access to that resource at no cost. Also, I fear that taking her away from her peers will only worsen her social anxiety.

Yet another concern I have is that Emma seems to be behind in reading and writing. For a 9 year old, her handwriting looks more like that of a 6 year old. She has difficulty spelling simple words and still writes a lot of her letters backwards. Maybe this is expected for her age group and I’m just out of the loop, but I remember the benchmark being a lot higher when I was her age. Again, my brother and sister-in-law are unable to devote the time and attention to help catch Emma up in these areas. I worry that she’ll only fall further behind.

Lastly, neither my brother nor his wife have any teaching experience. They have theater BFAs and simply do not have the qualifications to teach Emma anything outside the humanities, if even that. This child needs special attention, and, as I mentioned above, her parents do not have the time to give it to her. If they had access to private schools, I know Emma’s parents would send her to a small liberal arts school that could help her thrive, but because they don’t, I think keeping her in public school is the next best option.

Emma is a creative, goofy, smart, passionate kid. I want the best for her and I know her parents do too, but I’m not sure that homeschooling is the right thing.

I admittedly don’t know much about homeschooling, so I would really appreciate any insight people may have into this situation. Thank you!

rant/vent Need advice

I’m 16 and I have been homeschooled ever since I moved 4 years ago and I have never felt more pain in my life. Any friends I had from public school barely talk to me and I barely leave the house. It’s gotten so bad if I don’t have a distraction (which I rarely do) I get so depressed which eventually turns into agitation and I feel like I can’t control myself I’ll break things and bang on walls just to get it to go away for a minute but it always comes back. I’ve got an appointment with a psychiatrist but it’s so far away I even went into an urgent care last week which what they gave me didn’t help any. I spent those years daydreaming mostly about having friends I could hang out with in person, even when I did go places it was nowhere I could meet anyone so I just assumed it was impossible. I’ve got such a distorted way of viewing things and there’s nobody around me to disprove the things I think mostly about myself, so I give in to believing I’m some sort of monster or alien not someone anyone would like to be around.

I was thinking about going back to public school but I have never been in a high school and I know basically nothing since my brain blocks out anything I ever tried to learn. I just think about how I’ll have no idea where to go or where anything is. But I dream about being normal and being forced to go to school, I would rather be unhappy about that than feel the way I do now. Because at least then I could see people know I exist and acknowledge that.

When I look up how to meet people or what to do out of the house as a homeschooler I see join clubs or classes but I can’t seem to find many, and I’m scared I’ll go to one and nobody will be there but me or I’ll be stuck with a bunch of people way younger than me or way older. And that fear is paralyzing me because I feel like I can’t take another disappointment or being looked down upon again. I enrolled in an after school club but it showed not many people my age were enrolled so I feel like it’s just setting myself up for embarrassment.

I don’t know what to do I feel completely hopeless all I want is just one person I can talk to and hang out with but it feels like that’s only ever going to be a fantasy for me

rant/vent I'm turning 22 soon, and I desperately need to unfuck my life before I am dragged to a developing country that I don't speak the language of and try to kill myself.

Edit: Cutting this down in size and removing the TL;DR. I am too much of an incompetent tool to apply to community college.

My aim for this is to narrow down what steps I should actually take, since I can think of a lot of plans/ideas, but it's hard to narrow down anything. And there's so much wrong with me, that I'm not sure if doing it the "normal" way would just make things worse.

I was homeschooled K-12 except for 9th grade, as I went to public school that year (but got pulled out afterwards because of the pandemic). I have people that I know online that have gone a lot further than me despite having somewhat similar upbringings. It's always made me jealous and insecure, but I still have done absolutely nothing to fix my life.

My dad was slaving away at work and my mom was too focused on being my homeschool teacher. My mom hasn't worked since I was born and I have never worked, so my dad is the only source of income.

Even when I want to be independent and do something for myself, my parents swoop in and do it for me. I am complacent because I've gotten so used to it. I feel this huge wave of exhaustion come over me when I have to do adult/domestic/professional things and I just let my parents do the thing (like make my appointments, fill my paperwork, cook my food, clean after my mess, etc).

My dad plans to retire to a developing country that I don't speak the language of. It worries me because it would probably have even less mental health resources and I would be ostracized/alienated more than I currently am in my home country. What is most important to me is getting out of my parents' place before my dad drags me to said country. I want to move out of my parents' place within 1-3 years.

This is what I currently have on me: social security card, state ID, online banking account, a copy of my birth certificate

What limits me at the moment:

  • I'm autistic and probably have undiagnosed ADHD as well.
    • My executive functioning sucks. I tend to daydream and get stuck overthinking my plans as well. I can spend years thinking of an idea and I never execute it because I overthink it. Paperwork and bureaucracy overwhelms me, so I end up putting it off forever.
  • I have pretty bad social anxiety bordering on agoraphobia. I also find myself sucking at advocating for myself and setting boundaries because of this, this has resulted in a lot of unproductive conversations with my parents and missed opportunities.
    • I tend to downplay my problems with people who aren't that familiar with me (like extended family and acquaintances) because I don't want them to judge or dismiss me. It's been bordering on agoraphobia for the past couple of years. Posting this in itself was incredibly hard for me.
  • I have learned helplessness that pretty much affects everything in my life.
  • I am a dependent under my dad's health insurance and probably his taxes as well. I want to get out of it, but I think I need my own job first so I can earn my own income and get on work insurance.
  • I currently don't know how to drive, as I've been putting it off for years due to my fear of getting into a car accident (as I daydream a lot and I can barely focus on my surroundings when I'm anxious).
  • I don't have access to my homeschool transcript/documentation. Wondering if I should just get a GED at this point. I live in FL and I had an annual evaluator, I am legally recognized as being graduated but I don't have proof for it.

I've contemplated doing the following:

  • Getting a job with my dad driving me, learn to drive while this is happening; I've only applied to 3 jobs. I suck at socializing, I am physically weak so hard labor is out of the picture. I don't know how to do "professional" speak (I am too informal and awkward). Job listings (even entry-level ones) also overwhelm me because they have so many requirements that I think I fit none of. I've only applied to 3 jobs within the past few years, which I know isn't a lot.
  • Going to a residential Job Corps; this sounds like almost the ideal setting for me to turn my life around. I've been to psych wards and public school before and I have managed. The main things that worry me are the longevity, cliques/getting dragged into drama, having mental health crises on-campus, whether or not it's just me being too lazy to apply for more jobs, and whether or not I'd be leeching resources from people who are even more disadvantaged than me.
  • Going to community college; I've ruminated on applying to community college since I was 18, but I think the idea of going to higher education overwhelms me a lot when I've already had an alienating experience in public school and I have so many educational gaps. I have similar concerns to Job Corps, and I worry even more about how I'd manage FAFSA/how I would finance this because of the paperwork I would have to do.

A lot of these plans fell through because I get too hung up on doing it correctly or I get too anxious about failing or embarrassing myself before I go through with it.

I have tried to seek help, but I don't think I was even capable of saying what was wrong. I saw an online therapist for about a year when I was 15, and they discharged me because I needed a "higher level of care" (I was too fucked up for them). We both agreed that I would go to a DBT group. When my dad actually drove me there, he said it was a far drive (it was about an hour away) and it made me not want to go there again. When I think about this incident, it makes me feel stupid for not continuing anyway.

Instead of seeking out more psychological help, I resorted to fixating on "self-help", isolating myself even more from others until I was "fixed", and dabbled into drugs. All of that was a big mistake, it's left me feeling like I lost my mind a little.

rant/vent As someone who's homeschooled

I don't like being homeschooled. As a sophomore, I have no friends, rarely have conversations with people other than myself, I am extremely self-aware and metacognitive, I don't really know how to talk to people, I am socially retarded, and I get a bit jealous that I can't relate to things like homecoming, trying out for sports, school dances, having crushes, friend groups, goofing off with the school computers, projects, theatre kids, etc. My parents are Pentecostal Christians so I go to church every Sunday and used to have fake friends until stopped talking to them because I had to follow them around, would often get left behind, and felt stupid for it. When I was 11-13, I would cry at night because I didn't have any friends, half-faked depression, I tried drawing myself a best friend, and would sometimes go into the bathroom and pray that when I opened the door, I'd be somewhere else. I even dreamed of a friend, woke up, thought if I went back to sleep, I could get her phone number and call her in real life.

I didn't get her phone number yall ☹️

I don't hate my parents for homeschooling me but I can't love them either because when I hear a really good song, hear something crazy news, watch an interesting show, or want to vent - they're the reason I don't have anyone to talk to... Yes, I have siblings but 3 of them moved out, 3 of them are way younger than me, and I have a bad relationship with the one closest to my age. I'm sure that if I was suddenly allowed to go to public school, I'd still have a hard time talking to others but I guess I'm okay now. I talk to myself which makes me self-sufficient.

I think thats the answer to all my problems? Im anxious and scared? No im confident and happy.

Maybe this version of me is scared but im going to pretend im actually super confident and dont care about how anything might turn out. I feel like I cracked the code to the universe?

Anyone else come across her yet? She's a therapist who homeschooled her kids, who are now adults. Loves to pat herself on the back for her parenting, which extended into controlling their college choices and majors.

I just saw a clip on FB where she talks about how one of her kids asked to go to public school but she wouldn't let him because, basically, she knew better. One of the more insufferable homeschool content creators. I would love to hear from her kids now.

rant/vent Am I wrong for resenting my mom (◑_◑;)

I'm a Longtime Lurker, This is probably just going to be a big wall of text of me scrambling to find the right words to describe my mom in a way that doesn't make her look like a villain, though I'm not good with words

I don't think my mom is a bad person. She does what she does because she thinks it's the best for me and my siblings, and she's always telling me how me and my siblings were the best thing to come out of her life.

But I just don't understand (;´∩`;) If I'm the best thing to come out of her life, why does she let me live the way I do? How can't she see how depressed her choices make me? Why won't she let me spread my wings?

I think a month ago now, I broke down in tears telling her how badly I wanted to go back to public school, inspired by the stories here. I haven't been since COVID. I was in 4th grade

She told me how capable she was of teaching me on her own, she told me she used to have to teach herself things and study on her own when she was younger in order to graduate, because her parents were no help, yada yada (She went on longer about herself. Generally I've noticed she loves talking about herself... Haha)

She told me I'm smart enough to learn like this, and I just need to have hope in her (and snuck in a stop being lazy when she tries teaching us anything once every 2 months, like she does whenever homeschooling is mentioned lol)

She always knows the right things to say to get me to believe in her, but it's been like this for years and really nothing has changed

It's been 5 Years and I'm still stuck on 4th grade math .....okay I can't think of any other examples right now But overall I'm just very behind in everything it feels like and I'm reminded of how behind I am socially and educationally whenever I spectate other kids my age online. (Not in real life because I have not been allowed outside in months lol)

Sometimes she'll point out how isolated I am and make it seem like I'm doing it to myself. It makes me mad.

None of my siblings like being homeschooled at all, either

When remembering the things she's told me, I feel really bad resenting her for this because I know she loves me. I'm really trying my best to have hope and be compliant with homeschooling... But I hate it. There's nothing I hate more in the world. I want my life back. I miss it so much

I'm not sure what I'm posting this for Idk I don't think I'll ever convince her to let me go back to public school.

During my break down I did try recommending online school; she said "Maybe" but followed it up with "But it might cost money." Which means: That's Not Happening. ꉂꉂ(ˊᗜˋ)

And honestly maybe I am lazy because I've seen all the Khan Academy Just Teach Yourself advice on here and I won't lie. I don't feel like doing that shit man. Perhaps I'm a lost cause. ╮( ´_ゝ`)╭

Hello! I really wish I stayed in public school. 🥲
I only went to school in kindergarten. And been homeschooled ever since. But then my mom decided to unschool me and my siblings. And It’s so frustrating. I genuinely don’t know how to do highschool level math. Haven’t even graduated highschool. I’m 18, and everyone I know that’s my age graduated. Now, I’m tryna Get my GED. It’s genuinely so scary. I’m scared of doing math. I feel like a failure. If you gone through this please feel free to leave a comment. Or a message. I would appreciate it!!
