Movie Review Fallen (1998)
This was a fun supernatural thriller about a cop being hunted by supernatural forces. I managed to catch this one just a few minutes before it left Netflix and was able to watch it all the way through despite being passed the cut off date. This movie is so tense and so fucking scary it makes being touched by someone feel like the worst possible thing. 10/10.

Thank you. I was trying to remember what the end credits song was. It’s so eerie matched up with the ending.

Actually that's sung through the film the credits song is Sympathy For The Devil.

I loved the telegraphed ending right from the get go. It's always stuck with me as a story telling device.

Fun fact: in the police station the actress that would go on to play Janice on the sopranos passes the demon to James Gandolfini

Yes! That scene is such a wild little detail, especially knowing who she went on to play in The Sopranos. Makes the whole scene even creepier in hindsight.

When people ask me what super power I would like to have, it is to be the entity from this film.

Saw this in the theater without knowing what it was about. The 90s were great for these types of random movies

Great flick, and well-cast. Saw it on cable back in 1999/2000. Have had it on DVD for a long time.

It was one of Denzel's better dark thrillers of the '90s. Crimson Tide is still Denzel's best film of that decade. I know Philadelphia's social impact was more important, but Crimson Tide was on another level in terms of acting.
Fallen is basically the same concept as Wes Craven's "Shocker", but with an Oscar caliber cast. Shocker had more surreal visuals, and stronger subtext about media's relation to serial killers. But this was more serious with a stronger cast.

I always have these two films in the same category, and I love them both. I think that Koteas and Pileggi are somewhat similar actors in many ways, which helps.

I love both, too. Both are basically riffing on Invasion of the Body Snatchers in their own unique way.

Yeah I watched it recently and the whole tone and style felt very late 90's. The music video slow mo shots, the aggressive editing, the whole theme of religious corruption. I enjoyed it overall but I much prefer The Bone Collector.

Yes indeed, a great film. There were so many great horror films in the 90s*.
The Frighteners, The People Under The Stairs, Shocker (oh, wait that might be 1989), Tremors, Exorcist III, In The Mouth Of Madness, Scream, Audition, Silence Of the Lambs, Event Horizon...etc etc.
And Fallen was packed with acting talent: Denzil, Elias Koteas, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland. Wow.
*You could easily say this about every single decade from the 70s onwards. There's always great stuff out there.

Jesus Christ this movie is from 1998? Time is fleeting.
Anyway great movie and it was all I could think about for the whole first act of the new Spiderman movie.
