Discussion Horrorpunk mixtape project for 2026
Announcing the r/horrorpunk 2026 Mixtape Project
One of the reasons this subreddit was founded was to discover new horrorpunk music. And this community has been great. You've shared your favorite classic tracks, new releases, and music from brand-new bands. Some of you have even shared music that you've written and recorded yourself. No matter what you've shared, it has all been great. Please keep that up.
Let's channel this energy into one playlist. When somebody asks what horrorpunk is, you should be able to point to this playlist and have them understand it.
So I'd like every user here to list artist and song title, which will be added to the list.
RULES
- Please only submit one track per user.
- Song submissions will be up until May 31.
- I love the Misfits. You probably love the Misfits, too. But they seem like too obvious of a choice. So let's leave them out of the equation for the time being.
- Just like the subreddit rules, no hate speech is allowed. Wanting to annihilate all of humanity is just good lyrics. Wanting to annihilate a specific group of people is bigotry. You know the difference.
- The song has to exist on these streaming services, otherwise I literally can't add it to the playlist.
- For bands and musicians: Your own music is allowed. Yes, I mean it. Self-promote. I want you to. But once again, your music has to be on a streaming service, otherwise I have no way of adding it.
Beyond that, there are no limitations on what music you can submit, as long as it falls within horrorpunk. Give me old favorites, new songs, or anything in between.
Stay spooky.
EDIT: Depending on what music is available on what platforms, different versions of the playlist may end up with different songs. I'll try to catalog those differences here, or in a different thread, once the playlist is finalized.

Video The Sad Hour - Dead Nor Alive
I came across this band a couple weeks ago at a festival in Detroit. They're a very theatrical act with buckets of lore and a media kit/ merch booth that screams dark theater. They released this music video last night and I think it's going places if it sees the right audience.
https://youtu.be/1EqK7Ta1JZM?is=Z55Fr0W6jGXvKG6q
I think I heard that they're going on tour while I was looking at the merch casket. I picked up a "cursed vhs tape" that was them performing at a venue in hamtramck for world goth day.
If you like this video, look them up on Bandcamp or Instagram. It looks like they're producing good old analog media eg vhs tapes, cassette tapes, and they sell a perfume in their merch. Way cool.
I think they sound more distinctly goth but there's punk roots hence the cross post here.

The B-Movie Monsters released 3 singles last night. All covers but they're good.
That's all. New B-Movie Monsters. Lil' Red Riding Hood is my favorite of the 3.

Upcoming shows Need suggestions
Local musician, booked a couple spooky season shows, I need some suggestions of spooky/fall songs to cover. For now I'm a solo acoustic act, so simple is best! Tysm 🫰
OH my act generally leans folk punk, but these 2 festivals are supposed to be all ages so I'm trying to avoid expletives, or pick stuff that's easier to censor

Discussion Is the Green Goblyn Project even a horror punk band?
I sometimes wonder what genre this band really is.. they are like the nirvana of horror rock in my eyes, but I’m kinda bad at labels. I just say to do yourself a favor and get ahead of the curve with getting your hands on their records (all self released.) I heard a rumor there is a new record coming out this Halloween that celebrates their 30 years of ripping it up!
