For the fans? Who else would it be for?

u/princessPeachyK33n Jul 30 '26
IIRC, she made a thing of this because she was “getting so many haters”? Or something? She started saying it on tour about how her music is “for the fans!”. Which. Correct. Who else would buy these tickets? That’s what this is lol

This is going to flop so hard... another embarrassing stunt. She must think shes on Taylor Swifts level or something to try and pull this off.

u/sexi_squidward Jul 31 '26
I was shocked to see how many people were at her concert where she got stuck in that giant plastic bottle thing.
EDIT: Upon googling, it was at a free concert festival so that explains why so many people

Please. Taylor Swift and her are on the same level when it comes to music. Taylor Swift just has better PR at the moment.
16
u/CampAstoria Jul 30 '26
Please. They have no where near the same level of cult like fandom. Katy Perry has fans, Taylor swift has religious followers.

u/PeridotChampion Jul 30 '26
It's honestly scary at how bent out of shape they get whenever Taylor is criticised.

u/mikkeldoesstuff Jul 31 '26
As someone who isn’t a fan of either, IMO Taylor’s new stuff sounds uninspired and basic, while Katy’s stuff sounds like AI music in the early adopter days at best.
Compare Taylor’s first song off her newest album to Katy’s first song off her newest album. I don’t like either of these but IMO Katy makes Taylor look like fine art

The ones who were expecting to profit from this:
“For my winter house in mustique, my winter house in aspen, my attorney’s 3rd Benz, and the record company’s ceo’s super yacht “
But ok, the fans

Actually, to her credit... A lot of people said she couldn't.
Her career in the last few years have been an complete trainwreck. Her last few albums have been universally panned by critics, her most recent song failed to chart, her tour was mocked even by some of the people who paid to see her. Considering she used to be one of the biggest pop stars 10-15 years ago, that has been majorly embarrassing for her.
Even outside of her music career, it has been PR disaster after PR disaster. She was in legal battles over real estate because she bought an old coven and the nuns sued her. One of the nuns died in the courtroom and her last words were literally "Please stop, Katy Perry". She got mocked heavily for sucking up to Elon Musk and things only got worse when she participated in the that "space" publicity stunt.
Now... Did she actually do it? No. No fucking way. She's a huge joke, now. But that doesn't change that people said she couldn't do it.

What is the "it" that she can / can't do?
32
u/AgencyInformal Jul 30 '26
the lifetime tour i guess.
22
u/oscarq0727 Jul 30 '26
I suppose she did do it then? Named a tour “the Lifetime Tour” and then toured that tour? 🤷♂️

u/SufficientGuidance28 Jul 31 '26
Between the mistake of referring to it as a coven and the detail of the nuns last words being “please stop, Katy Perry” this comment has me dying 😂

imma be honest, katy perry had a crazy impact back in the day. teenage dreams is universally known, and marked the 2010s more than any album imo. some people just can't become irrelevant. like, does it really matter that someone wasn't able to keep up with their peak? if you take taylor swift as an example, she only got that massive fan base still because she isn't only a musician, rather one of those celebrities that are famous just because they are famous. her music completely sucks compared to what it used to be in the past.

I think Lady Gaga had way more of an impact on the 2010s than Katy Perry.

I think Gaga had more crossover appeal & recognition. I turned 30 in 2014, everyone I knew had an opinion on Gaga but Katy Perry barely even registered for me and other people I know who knew her only did because their kids or nieces/nephews liked her. The only Katy Perry song I knew as a Perry song was I Kissed A Girl. I certainly heard others in passing but nothing that made me recognize the artist.
The Boomers in my family all knew who Gaga was but none knew anything about Katy Perry until her "astronaut" stunt

Did they really say “couldn’t”?
Maybe they said “shouldn’t”
Could but won’t
Should but shorn’t

Wasn't the turnout low and the some of the performances a bit crap?

u/MsE0 Jul 30 '26
The only thing I know about it is she got stuck in a giant inflatable water bottle being rolled around the audience because they wouldn't roll her back to the stage

Can’t in what sense? Physically can’t or, “Oh my god, Katy, it’s not 2008 anymore. You can’t do this?

u/ApartRuin5962 Jul 31 '26
Honestly I could see there being LEGAL issues with a live concert movie in Paris. France has notoriously strict laws about filming people, they probably needed ever single attendee, vendor, and roadie to sign a waiver

u/threwordbotname Jul 31 '26
To her credit I almost booked an imax seat thinking it was a new release of odyssey tickets.

u/PinothyJ Jul 31 '26
To be fair, we all said "she shouldn't", but no said "she couldn't". It is all just a mild miscommunication.

I'm sure a ton of people said it. People hate on Katy Perry with a firey passion for some reason

I really enjoyed the Lifetimes tour last year. I had a great spot (standing really close to the stage). She’s a fantastic entertainer and the crowds here in Australia adore her. I actually like a lot of her recent pop music too, but I’m a pop music fan. She’s a good pop music maker.

She’s been cringe for a while now, I’m surprised she keeps finding ways to stay relevant

She can perform in a giant plastic bottle until the crowd refuses to send the bottle back to the stage.

She needs a new font. I read her name on the poster as ‘Kanj Pomj’ and had no idea who she was other than somebody who really like the Evil-Lynne-from-He-Man look.

I will say i like the poster design. There was never a point that I liked Katy Perry’s music… Roar and Firework are among my most hated songs of all time. I feel like she is a misguided but not evil person. She’s just a product of an industry.

This is so backwards toxic. No maam, a platinum record holder is not a victim nor an underdog.

Just looking at the poster and before reading the comments, I didn’t know who this was. Kan J Pem J?

This looks like a fake poster, like the sort they get high school media students to design their first semester

But she can do it. She can make music that is stuck in 2013
