I knew about blue bottles and green bottles but didn't realise there were red ones too. It looked even more red to my eyes.

I spotted this whilst staying in Somerset a couple of months back. The wings were see-through. Can anyone identify it for me please?

It s not from the grasshoppers flies moths or fruitflies it s so wierd

Having a lovely cuppa listening to this bee on the buddleia. I’ve never heard one buzz as it takes the pollen from the flowers. Does anyone know why this is so? Thank you 🐝

Saw this lil guy this morning outside my backdoor, im inexperienced and new to insect identification so I didnt know what it was at first, had to look it up. Heard its underdocumented so decided to post here.

Flew in front of my face as i stepped out of the door, heart skipped a beat until i realised it actually wasn’t a hornet. They really do a good job of mimicking them. Peak evolution if it actually evolved like this for a purpose, first one i have ever seen and i’m 40.

I was convinced it was a European Hornet as it was so much bigger than the honeybees. Finally got a few good shots today and worked it was a hoverfly that had been fooling me. Certainly earned its 'Hornet Mimic' name!

Seen this around my old garden sleepers while gardening. Is this a cuckoo wasp attacking a digger wasp? Located in north west Cumbria on the coastal line

A nice little variety seen recently.

This got stuck in the conservatory this morning, i’ve never seen one before in my life. Chatgpt tells me it’s a female Black Slip Wasp, it also says they are quite widespread but i’ve never seen one in Northern Ireland before?

Not a great photo, sorry! This wasp was sitting on my sun lounger and had this organic looking item that it was turning round and round. Eventually he dropped it (couldn't see where it went) and flew off but I'm curious what it was doing/what the item was. Any ideas?
