Mod announcement Mod announcement: ALL instant noodles are welcome and zero tolerance for hate

Just a PSA for everyone reporting all the Indo Mie or Pho posts:

This sub welcomes all types of instant noodles. With or without soup. Made from wheat, rice or other stuff. From whatever country. I don’t care, we don’t discriminate here.

Regarding the second point of the title:

I have zero patience for people calling others “tards” or making things about race or other bs like that. No discussion, I just hand out a ban. If you can’t behave, you’re not welcome here.

Peace.

All new to me from a local Asian store. The shelves had scores more but some of these were recommended by the cashier, some seemed otherwise interesting… if you know any of these and would like to recommend a few to start with, I would be happy..! I try to make a review later on..

I actually just wanted to buy Shin Black and Red at the Asian grocery store, but they didn't have them. So, I ended up with a mixed bag instead.

I'm really curious about Acecook; I've never had anything from them before.

Cooked the noodles 4 minutes. Made the sauce with Buldak chilli (3/4) and powder mixed with egg yolk, sesame oil, kewpie mayo, and boiled noodle water. Tossed the sauce, frozen asian veg, and noodles all together. Topped off with some grilled prawns in butter and fried shallots.

Question What kind of noodles are buldak?

I want to make homemade buldak noodles.

Are they just normal ramen noodles that are thick or are they some special kind of thin udon?

I know buldak has plain noodles packets but they are not available to purchase in my area.

Any tips or information will be appreciated.

Question Is anyone interested in a social ramen rating app?

Post image
356 Upvotes

Edit: thanks for all the amazing support! If there’s any ramen missing and you don’t have a packet nearby, let me know and I’ll have it added.

Hi guys, I dunno if this applies to you but I love ramen and always want to try new flavors when I see them at the store, but it’s always a big commitment to buy a 5 pack and have it end up tasting terrible, so I just go with my usual Shin Black.

To fix this, I’m hoping yall could help me and the rest of the community by logging your favorite & least favorite ramen in Snack Isle (100% free app with no subscriptions or ads).

The idea is you compare the ramen you’ve eaten against each other so that there’s no score inflation (kind of like Beli for instant ramen), and you can scan a ramen at the grocery store to see what other users have rated it before you make the purchase.

I’m ADHD af (30mg XR, IYKYK) so I originally built Snack Isle because I love eating snacks and making ranked lists, but thought it might be useful for instant noodles as well.

I know ads suck, but I’m genuinely not selling you anything except asking you to take a chance and see if this is something you might like. Thank you!

We’ve just surpassed 100 users as of last week and it’d be amazing if you could give Snack Isle a try too!

ios: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/snack-isle-find-your-favorite/id6791022824

android still needs a little over a week of closed testing for Google approval, but happy to add you to the test if interested!

Shin Toomba with smoked sausage and green onion. Incredible. I threw in some mushrooms because I had them, I usually do a little frozen spinach or corn, just depends what I’ve got.

I would eat it every day if I could.

Question What is the point of Buldak (esp. 2X) if you’re diluting the heat anyway?

I see so many suggestions for taming the spice level. Then why have Buldak? Isn’t the fire the point?

Thanks for the edification in advance.

Edit: All the answers in good faith to a fair question are much appreciated!

Question Best instant ramens you can get on Amazon?

Hey all. I'm looking for some good ramen that is available on Amazon. Bonus points if it's good value because I got laid off in the spring and recently accepted a job that only pays a paycheck-to-paycheck wage.

Ramens I have tried and liked:

  • Samyang Buldak (with 1/3 of the sauce packet)
  • Samyang Carbonara (with 1/3 of the sauce packet)
  • Shin Toomba
  • Shin Black
  • Shin Green
  • Nissin ROAH soy sauce flavor
  • Nissin Black Garlic Oil
  • Sapporo Ichiban original flavor
  • Chapagetti
  • Nongshim Hot & Spicy bowl noodles

Ramens I have tried and didn't like:

  • Neoguri
  • Sapporo Ichiban Chow Mein
  • Indomie Mi Goreng (don't crucify me over this)
  • Nissin Hot & Spicy

I believe all of these are on Amazon. Any suggestions for things I might like based on my tastes?

Chinese Instant Noodles My favorite noodles that I can no longer find.

Post image

This is probably my absolute favorite instant noodles of all time.

It's incredibly flavorful, has crispy pickled veggies that give it more texture and flavor, and the broad noodles were deliciously chewy when you don't overcook it!

Sadly, these seemed to be no longer available from where I'm from, so I can no longer have it again.

I really miss it...😢

It's called the Liziqi Chili Oil Instant Wide Noodles.

Korean Instant Noodles Szechuan - Korean Fusion via Shi Ramyun with Tofu, Eggs, Kimchi, Green Onions, Cilantro, Chile Japonés, Szchuan Peppercorn, Curry, and Homemade Szechuan Chili Oil

TL;DR this shit hit like you wouldn’t believe and I’m
Writing this a day later after the left overs which hit again.

So this is a fusion of so many things but basically it’s a Korean-Szechuan fusion. I used frozen tofu and when I boiled the water I added sofrito, curry, consome de pollo because I don’t like my shit just being seasoned on top. The curry powder was a first and I’ll be doing that again - trust me. It gives this subtle Singapore rice noodle taste at the end. This dish was as subtly flavoured in the same way that arab men subtly spray on cologne (I don’t sissy spray myself, so nothing but love for that vibe).

The Chiles on top are something I got from Peter Chang’s Dried Fried Eggplant from his Tasty China restaurant. It’s a legendary dish, the absolute nicest thing I’ve ever had in my mouth, and it was invented in the US at a time and place where Chinese ingredients weren’t limited and the original restaurant catered to Chinese Americans. I don’t think people outside of Georgia understand how the Asian American community are changing our state, but suffice it to say, Buford Hwy is easily the nicest place to eat in ATL. It’s our China town meets suburban sprawl.

Peter Chang opened a restaurant in Marietta and they’ve since moved and in my opinion they are, still great, but not what they were with him but he sort of took a new take on Chinese American food really…it’s hard to say if it’s really Chinese American or just why a Chinese person invented here. But it’s delicious delicious delicious. And anyone in the ATL area should go to tasty China and try the dried fried eggplant immediately. I’ve actually seen it at ponce city market so his dish has actually spread in the area but tasty China has the best one I promise.

So that’s where the Szechuan influence is inspired from. I cook my cilantro a little bit, but he keeps his raw (it mutes the soapy taste, I can graze on that shit, and I’ve apparently got the gene too, but I’ve got some non-believers in my home). I think the raw cilantro is better but this is actually quite nice too.
