I too sit in a cubicle all day trying not be noticed, like neat hats, and at the end of the day deal with my existential crisis by going to Denny’s and having a ribeye.
And their color are adapted to the vision of their prey and predator(if any). Human eyes see the inside of their mouth pink, but their predators may see it green like the foil.
Story time. When I was in high school, our tight-ass admin shortened “spirit week,” and we were only allowed to dress up 3 days of the week rather than all 5. They had dual themes each day and you had to pick one. Like one day was “silly hat” or “tie dye,” etc. On the day that we were supposed to choose between Hawaiian and Camouflage, I made a sarong out of camo fabric and wore a flower lei so that I could be in both yearbook photos. I called it “Hawaiiaflage” and I thought I was damn clever.
He may be thinking that 😀 based on the cloudy blue colour of his eyes, he either is imminently about to shed or those layers of skin haven't come off of his eyes for awhile. He may not be able to see, and you know how that saying goes: if I can't see them then maybe they can't see me?
