This is really incredibly sad anyone commenting ignorant comments about how people should’ve done x y z can you please dig deep inside yourself to find an ounce of kindness or humility that something like this deserves. People
were obviously in absolute shock not knowing what to do in that moment of natural destruction. Seconds can feel like minutes when you’re watching yet an instant in their present. Learn from what you’re seeing. Your shame and judgment takes away from you.

Agree - I’ve been in several earthquakes not only is it a shock, but also if it is a violent one you may not have a choice what to do because the ground throws you around. Also a lot of people aren’t taught what to do if they’re not from earthquake prone places.

If anyone reading this wants to know what the recommended advice is - try and get into a doorway, or under a table. If you aren’t near either of those, get low to the ground (next to a bigger stable object is best) and cover your head with your arms to protect it. If there are windows , try to angle your face away from it.

Sometimes you have time and presence to react, sometimes you don’t. I’ve been with people who freeze or run towards danger during a quake, but what is the point in judging when they’re obviously in shock? Instead you help them stay safe if you can

Yes, and not to mention that whenever an earthquake starts it takes a while for you to process what’s happening. You don’t automatically think “earthquake.” I’ve lived through short earthquakes where I literally thought something must have exploded nearby, like a car or something. That was my first initial thought and then it hit me it was an earthquake. You don’t really expect earthquakes to just happen. In this situation, my first thought would have probably been a bomb nearby since it’s an airport.

Legit. It's in an AIRPORT (you know, where travelers from other lands congregate). I grew up in the middle of tornado alley. We did tornado drills in school, not earthquake drills. I'd be reacting based on fear and what little I've seen on TV, not knowledge and experience.

from watching some youtube shows, I only recently found out how dangerous them big tornados can be the fact they are spinning the bricks and bits of cars they already ripped up at 300mph then it uses that to grind up the next house, they don't just rip things up they grind them as well.

i thought it was just a case of get in a basement, but for the most powerful it has to be a purpose made bunker people can get ripped out of basements even

We have a bunch of perfect know it alls on this platform that can’t find an ounce of empathy for anyone other than themselves or anyone else they try to victimize. First thing they do is be critical of ppl who statistically have probably never been involved in anything like this and hence wouldn’t know how to react. This is scary shit. The video is scary too because you can hear someone screaming of pain and a bunch of shit crashing down

Ok on second thought my mom said the same thing like wow and they didn’t go anywhere so you have a point I may have come off sounding too critical but trust it’s just bc this video made me tear up being so close to home :(
