I was like 15 floors up during a Tohoku Aftershock 72 days after Fukushima.

The building swayed with the quake. I figured there was no use trying to use the stairwell or anything and just accepted my fate and hoped Japanese engineering lived up to the hype..

It did. A few minutes of swaying later and I was good to go.

Third location I've experienced an earthquake lol.

Edit: no I am not an earthquake chaser. Earthquakes chase me.

I lived in the Tokyo area during the 2003 8.0. Tokachi quake. I woke up and thought, "Wow, that is going for a while." Then it kept going and I thought, "I sure hope my old ass dorm is well-made." Then I thought, "Wow, it's still going."

It ended up going for a solid minute and then I was like, "Oh cool, that was fun."

I grew up in SoCal and experienced the Northridge Quake, Big Bear, Lancaster and others. I was used to quakes, but man Japan gets a ton.
