If these guys had studied basics of earthquake or just watched Doremon show, they would have known that one should hide under table during earthquake.

I grew up in SoCal and we had regular earthquake drills and they teach you to get under your desk or table. I've also lived in Michigan as an adult and when I heard the tornado sirens I had no idea what to do. I've seen people on TV use bunkers but I was in an apartment building. Which is to say disaster preparedness is definitely not obvious and we all could use continuous learning!

I am the reverse. Grew up in Michigan with all the tornado drills and even active tornadoes with 20+ kids huddled into a bathroom or everyone going into the basement at home (or interior walls at any business).

Now live in Oregon and am thankful I had some “Great ShakeOut” drills in college otherwise I would be clueless. TBH I’m still pretty clueless of what to do in my home surrounded by 70+ year old trees but I do know not to get into the crawl space or a basement
