A while back i worked on a safety video for earthquake emergencies. Crouching under or beside a desk or other furniture creates a Space thats called "the triangle of life" where you are more likely to be shielded from falling debris as they Will hit (and bouce off, break or slide) the furniture First. It's also the type of spot survivors are most likely to be found on collapsed structures.
