a lot of people don’t know this, but it’s actually the fish who made this video

u/peekdasneaks 7d ago
It was actually a catfish, his wife was behind it all along

The chances of fish sabotaging your marriage is low… but it’s not zero. Case in point.

6
u/Dry-Tear4744 7d ago
They did it to frame him and ruin his marriage so he’d have more time to come out and play. Diabolical
5
u/Methylsky 7d ago
OBJECTION! What would a fish stand to gain by making the video? It'd actually have losses, in their own community, as the bro™ in question would have more time to kill them.
That, or, idk, because they don't have opposable thumbs and a concept of a digital video in their heads, but that's just a wild guess

Lol don't be. It's one of my favorite stories. Dude just really likes tractors.
4
u/SilasBalto 7d ago
But zero pictures of you? Zero? On the honeymoon?
2
u/Khatam 7d ago
Well, zero pictures of anything that's not a tractor, from the honeymoon at least.
Been married almost 10 years. He still doesn't take pictures of me and it's not a big deal. If it was a big deal to me I'd just ask him to take pictures of me.

Its possible that the wife told him not to smile in the pics.
Speaking on a personal note, I always smile in my pics because I believe I have a nice smile but my mother HATES it and in all the family pics she insists that I not smile. So her pics have me either looking neutral or miserable but pics with my buddies and me have a huge grin.

Speaking of marriage, this music always reminds me of the first video I heard it in, where that woman practiced looking demure but has giant goofy grins at her wedding

Real life Troy McClure.
15
u/I_Am_Dr_Zaius 7d ago
Who?
29
u/CheckYourStats 7d ago
You might remember him from such films as:
“Dial M for Murderousness”
and
“The President’s Neck is Missing!”
I hear he was in a Broadway play, but I can’t remember what it was called.
9
7
u/NerdSlamPo 7d ago
I have the strangest feeling that in the Broadway show he can suddenly play the piano. Which is weird, because he couldn't before.
6
8
u/Turkeyplague 7d ago
What he has is a romantic abnormality. One so shocking that it must be hidden from the public at all cost. You see...
11
26
u/One_Order_3841 7d ago
He's soo cute in the last pic; his wife either hates his fishing trips or sends him out so he de-ages 10 years
9
u/Sherbert-Particular 7d ago
There's a solid theory behind guys having a weirdly high number of fish pics on social media, dating apps, etc. Basically one of very few times many friend groups of guys will voluntarily or intentionally take a picture of one another.... doing anything. You might get a group photo of guys on a trip or something but it will prob be a mess. As we see in the post, the family type photos are not the best representation of the man. If he was hopping on dating apps anytime, guaranteed fish pic would be the leadoff.
3
u/Wormsworth__ 7d ago
if he was hopping on dating apps anytime, guaranteed the fish pic would be the leadoff.
You don't say? What did you think he would do, lead with pictures of his fucking ex marriage on a dating app??

Reminds me of the change of expression on Ron Swanson’s face when Lil’ Sebastian walked into the room.

u/das_slash 7d ago
I think the difference is in one scenario he is been asked to pose and he doesn't like his photos taken, and in the other he is showing off the fish, he doesn't care that he is in the picture, it's about the fish.
He probably also smiles while he is taking the pictures himself.

u/wookyoftheyear 7d ago
He might be from a country or culture where men don't smile in pictures. My dad usually never smiled in pictures unless they were candid, I've noticed it among older Asian men.
88
u/zenki32 7d ago
Japan here. There is not one photo of my grandparents smiling. I've seen hundreds of photos of them and I've taken dozens of photos of them. Not one smile. Which is weird because my grandfather is a jokester. He was always cracking jokes. RIP jiichan.

u/TheWantedPekka 6d ago
Greece here. Same thing and especially photos of people from villages on mountains. Children were no exception either. Very common with our grandparents generation.
29
u/New_Libran 7d ago
Russian/Former Eastern bloc countries. They do not ever smile in pictures or at strangers. My ex was from Latvia, I used to make fun of all her old pictures as a child where she looked like she was attending a funeral 😂

u/torqued8 7d ago
Also common in older generations of Eastern European cultures.

It's probably just cherrypicked pictures and there's tons of photos with his family where he smiles.

Yeah I think it’s just the difference between posing for a picture and genuinely proudly showing off something. Even if he loves being with his wife and family that’s different from sharing something you’re proud of.
6
u/Zunderfeuer_88 7d ago
Counter theory, he once kissed one of the fish he caught and it turned into a girl he then married. But she was jealous of otherfish and now he isn't allowed fishing anymore.

To be fair, those fishes don't look too happy with him either.
11
u/redhousebythebog 7d ago
So how would the pattern finish:
Happy Woman / Sad Fish
or
Sad Woman / Happy Fish ?
3
u/tolifeonline 7d ago
Between a fish and a fisherman, it's hard to find a scenario where both will be happy.
4
u/No-Cover4993 7d ago
He's only happy when he's hurting animals. Fish don't enjoy "catch and release" fishing the way we do. It's extremely stressful on their bodies and often kills them after release.

Man stands with his wife all the time, and it could be any occasion that my man might not have been interested in, and was there just for his wife. Fishing is a hobby that he almost certainly doesn't do as much as being in proximity to his wife, and does purely for personal enjoyment.
If he didn't look happy in the fish pictures, there likely wouldn't be any fish pictures. Hes going to be with his wife getting pictures taken regardless of his mood or the occasion.
This should be borderline expected, not condemned. People NEED time to enjoy themselves.

I've come to understand this a bit. In some cultures people think smiling for the sake of a photo looks disingenuous or rude. He was probably raised like that. It makes sense that in a posed picture with this family he wouldn't naturally be smiling but in the excitement of catching a fish he would be.
Funny nonetheless but I kind of understand it now.

Let's not try and dictate what makes this man truly happy.
It erupts from deep within and paints itself on his face. Pure joy manifest.... he's happy when he is with his family and hes happier when hes fishing and theres nothing wrong with that.

Sorry to get heavy here but...
I feel like this is what happens when you try to force societal conformity onto people.
He really looks miserable with the people that should by most definition make him happy.
I feel bad for the guy 😔

Well, as they say: give a man a fish and he will ask why the heck you gave him a fish. Teach a man to fish and he will smile for the camera when he fishes.

The "fish" is upset in all of the photos and the "fisher" is happy in all photos. It's just that the "fish" becomes a "fisher" in later photos.

The wife smile while he doesn’t.
That’s because he is the biggest fish his wife ever caught.
