u/dysonchamberlaine 6h ago

Arizona backwards is still Arizona! Its a palomino.

1

u/stone_henge 7h ago

I live on Mars and I can definitely say that Mars looks nothing like Arizona. Arizona however looks a lot like Mars.

1

u/KayLeighblu 10h ago

I live in Arkansas and that looks like New Jersey

24

u/SomeDumbPenguin 13h ago

Don't they use that region as a general test bed when they develop and build these rovers?

25

u/EntertainmentGood605 11h ago

i guess they use it also to take pictures 😅

5

u/MR_Happy2008 11h ago

Yes the former Nevada test site which you know just tested nuclear weapons nothing crazy

1

u/Objectivespeculation 6h ago

Nevada Test Site looks like the moon surface.

2

u/FlyingPasta 11h ago

They also have a sand pit at JPL with the rover dupes :)

So.. Nevado looks dry?

u/Coady417 13h ago

Let’s purposely start a conspiracy that there is no rover on Mars and insist it’s in the desert in Nevada.

42

u/ComfortableChapter65 12h ago

Let’s also start a conspiracy that Nevada was created by ancient Martians to replicate their homeland.

7

u/NowYouaSeeWhyYouScum 10h ago

And they decided to leave when John Smith discovered the legend of their magic underwear, fortunately he was looking in the wrong place to the east.

5

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Personally, I subscribe to John Smith and Jesus building the pyramids in Nevada as beacons for Ancient Aliens and the aliens relocated them to Egypt and invested resources into hieroglyphic fraud to fool us into believing they were always in Egypt

3

u/squirrels-mock-me 6h ago

“Magic Underwear” might be a club in Las Vegas

2

u/PeterAhlstrom 3h ago

Is that before or after he was rescued by Pocahontas?

→ More replies (1)

5

u/LordMarmite 8h ago

Nevada is stage 1 alien terraforming

3

u/Pristine_Feeling_723 8h ago

Or it's where the aliens gave up terraforming, thought we'd never notice

1

u/Clear_Pin_5882 5h ago

Or marsforming

2

u/Cunningcod 8h ago

Hence Area 51 in Nevada. The Martians moved in and built a top secret air base to disguise their presence.

2

u/HighlanderAbruzzese 7h ago

Outstanding.

1

u/borinbear 9h ago

Nevada is from Mars

11

u/lorddragonstrike 10h ago

Please don't. Last time someone did we wound up with the flat earthers and we cant seem to get rid of them.

9

u/Karl_Hungus_42069 11h ago

I guarantee you don't have to "start" that conspiracy. The fact you had that thought means its already been around for years

2

u/Wolodymyr2 9h ago

I actually seen this conspiracy theory in TV show called "Zagubleniy Svit" (it translates as "Lost World") in my country (I'm Ukrainian).

In short it's a TV show that propagate various conspiracy theories, to the point that conspiracy theory from one episode can contradict conspiracy theory from other.

1

u/Downtown-Sir1784 8h ago

The thought itself existed in the Forms when Plato first visited Nevada with Jesus and a Buddha

8

u/nss68 13h ago

Too hard. Let’s throw the rover in the gutter and say it’s in Nevada.

3

u/BookishBetty 12h ago

Too much work. Let's burn it and say we dumped it in a gutter in Nevada.

1

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

*Insert Fallout New Vegas opening scene but the player is Martian rover

4

u/TheFrenchSavage 11h ago

Prove me Nevada isn't on Mars.

3

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Mars is on Nevada. I don’t think Russia will like that much though.

4

u/pinkleftsock 10h ago

I've never personally seen the rover on Mars. Now I've also never been there, but that doesn't change the fact that it's suspicious that no-one has seen it in person.

2

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

And I’m also not saying Mars doesn’t exist but I’ve never seen myself there

1

u/pinkleftsock 8h ago

You might be on to something there..

3

u/Creative_Carob4922 12h ago

It is

3

u/DarkSpore117 12h ago

I agree with this guy. ‘Tis

6

u/Creative_Carob4922 12h ago

Like show us some weird shit on a planet that rains crystals or something. The always talk about it but we get Nevada with a Mexico filter

2

u/Mundane_Caramel_820 11h ago

They are changing the cameras and optics before each photo session. How else would newest images always be the clearest?

1

u/TDYDave2 9h ago

They used DLSS 5 for this one. /j

1

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Better bifocals

2

u/neonowain 11h ago

There already is a conspiracy theory like that.

2

u/_jackhoffman_ 8h ago

Pretty sure that the conspiracy exists. I've found ones saying there are from an island in Canada, Algeria, and Colorado...

2

u/BedroomOdd1986 6h ago

I’m pretty sure that’s already an established conspiracy theory. I forget if it’s a place in Hawaii or if it’s Nevada that they believe NASA is trying to pass off as Mars.

2

u/EarballsAgain 12h ago

Is "the desert in Nevada" a bit redundant?

1

u/ZealousORJealous69 11h ago

Not the r-word I was thinking

u/BazarBS 20m ago

No, the supposed videos of mars is.

Hijacking top comment.
These are not specially released images drip fed to the public. There is a firehose of images, raws, here https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/multimedia/raw-images/ over a million of them.

There are processed images, 360 deg pictures and videos, composites and mosaics. https://science.nasa.gov/mission/mars-2020-perseverance/

So much stuff from Percy. its got a dozen cameras.

Curiosity is also sending images, its got a catalogue of 780,000 raw images. As is MRO and other platforms.

https://science.nasa.gov/mars/

21

u/autumnlight2022 9h ago

You know what? It's fine. I didn't have anything better to do with my time than sit here and look at 5,786 pages of Mars pictures

6

u/LettuceShaver27 9h ago

Not a bad Tuesday

3

u/squirrels-mock-me 6h ago

Better call in sick

3

u/Coreyum 9h ago

That’s just from the rover! Then when you’re done you graduate to looking through the 780,000 Curiosity has so graciously given us 😊

2

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Me either and yet this has been an extremely entertaining thread. Oh! And the photos of Nevada are cool too.

1

u/Disastrous-Injury696 10h ago

Thanks for the effort and for promoting science, education and facts. But you might be overshadoved. ...There are people from Nevada here.

22

u/bananasaucecer 14h ago

somewhere in Nevada perchance

1

u/Empyrean_The_Angel 12h ago

Looks like a place for some maddening combat

1

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Def not Louisiana purchase

7

u/CorrectMulberry994 14h ago

I’m pretty sure it’s that area there

6

u/ObligationNext2484 14h ago

How many areas where there before this specific area?

2

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Many areas, there was one with rocks… one with stones…. Even an area with boulders

8

u/Cold-Practice3107 14h ago

Traveling the Mojave and makes you wish for a nuclear winter

3

u/Weak-Introduction124 8h ago

Is this a setup for a Fallout New Vegas response? Mr. House is that you?

1

u/BookishBetty 12h ago

I was conceived and born on the edge of the Mojave, and I am genetically allergic to cold.

6

u/King-James-3 13h ago

Makes me think that crazy good geoguesser would be able to find some obscure piece of desert if this wasn’t actually Mars.

4

u/Aggravating_Speed665 13h ago

Ugh, how many times do I have to tell people Mars = Nevada, yet they still keep trying to wow us with new footage like it's going to be different this time...

Wake me up when a rover stumbles into some alien tech left there by Arnie in the 80s.

2

u/MenIntendo 13h ago

With so much space for a new Las Vegas

1

u/rematar 10h ago

Last Vegas, Newvada

2

u/swiwwcheese 12h ago

I thought this was just around Albuquerque

2

u/ObscuraMonterey 11h ago

My money's on Atacama desert in Chile.

1

u/Messi2655 13h ago

If you ignore that there’s no sagebrush to be seen, I can by it lol

1

u/BlueMan_86 13h ago

Probably it is 😂

1

u/degen5ace 13h ago

Who would want to live there?

1

u/Milkmoney1978 12h ago

Have located the rover at 39.3516012, -117.3379882

1

u/WitnessAway6720 12h ago

What are those black things? u seem like a local of this area 🤔

1

u/Wavecrest667 12h ago

Patrolling Mars almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.

1

u/duncandhu 12h ago

I was thinking parts of New Mexico!

1

u/Virtual_Pressure_ 12h ago

Nevada? It looks like Murcia (Spain)

1

u/ThruuLottleDats 12h ago

Old river bed with the way those rocks lay about

1

u/roulettewiz 12h ago

Except it's actually in Canada 😂

2

u/Joe_Jobs_ 9h ago

Haughton Impact Crater in Nunavut. NASA use it as their "Cold Mars" simulation site.

1

u/YourMomDidntMind 12h ago

I was gonna say that's Death Valley NP

1

u/TopAlert2383 12h ago

I live 2 hours from Vegas and there's brush in the desert everywhere I look on the 15. Do you think they clear it out? Cause this looks like the Mojave or another close desert. It can also be Arizona or Utah. But definitely not Mars.

1

u/Intrepid-Beginning63 11h ago

bro i dont even live there, and i saw it

1

u/Western-Cream2800 11h ago

Hehe time to watch Capricorn One again

1

u/pappybug214 11h ago

As a Nevadan I agree with this, except there's not reg and green shotgun shells

1

u/TheoTerraScholaris 11h ago

🙄 your face looks like Nevada

1

u/Phantomkiller03 11h ago

I watched pawn stars so yeah that's Nevada

1

u/Development-Alive 11h ago

It has about as much water as Nevada too. We should colonize it! What could go wrong? /s

1

u/spiderzork 11h ago

If you zoom in you can see an All-You-Can-Eat buffet behind the rover arm.

1

u/Berserk_koenig 10h ago

I live in Mars. This looks like Texas

1

u/carolethechiropodist 10h ago

And North-West Australia.

1

u/Shut-the-Funk-up 10h ago

What should it look like. It's a desert n rock planet

1

u/tfhfate 10h ago

I heard that some scientific experiments are done there so simulate a similar hostile environment to men

1

u/North_Steak_3350 10h ago

Haha, I’m from Vegas and was like “This looks like home”

1

u/WorriedCatch2667 10h ago

I Live in Zimbabwe and l do not know Nevada

1

u/necio148 10h ago

Lmao first thing I thought also. Mars, Nevada??

1

u/ArtisticLayla 10h ago

this is so amazing

1

u/JustHere_4TheMemes 10h ago

NASA budget cuts, they just drove the rover to Nevada in a pickup truck.

1

u/FreebirdChaos 10h ago

Afghanistan

1

u/Attemptap 10h ago

I live in Texas and Nevada was my first thought too

1

u/No_Display9613 10h ago

I wonder what is the ROI on this.

1

u/Clatato 9h ago

I’m Australian and it looks a bit like Coober Pedy’s opal fields to me

1

u/BestMoveX 9h ago

Nevada

1

u/Ok_Recognition_9859 9h ago

This is all your base, it belong to us...

1

u/Opening_Owl2915 9h ago

That is the first thought that popped into my head when I saw this.

1

u/SnooConfections6409 9h ago

Fr they only ever show this one same location ever. Probably is nv lol

1

u/Low_Wrangler_8041 9h ago

I can totally see it Something about the whole vibe just screams Nevada. I’d honestly be shocked if someone told me it wasn’t.

1

u/Sti8man7 9h ago

Mars landing staged in Nevada

1

u/FromThaFields 9h ago

Why do you think area 52 is there huh?!

1

u/bigtroublitlsanchez 9h ago

I was thinking Utah lol

1

u/unknown_no_one99 9h ago

why did mars pics always look bright red/orange and now they dont, the change in cameras doesnt account for this, they were just lying to us

1

u/Clogboy82 9h ago

Was thinking just that :)

1

u/gilligan1050 9h ago

The more pictures of mars that I see, the more convinced I am that Adam and Eve were from a Martian escape pod. We used to live there but we fucked it up. It’s definitely possible.

1

u/Emergency-Owl-9401 8h ago

Same exact thought!

1

u/mmorales2270 8h ago

I was just thinking if I didn’t actually know this was Mars I could swear this was in the southwest U.S. somewhere.

1

u/SqueezeMePlease 8h ago

I came here to say exactly this, lol.

1

u/minnetonkacondo 8h ago

Yeah! Like North of Nevada. Near Alamo or Ash Springs. 😂

1

u/GrassLate304 8h ago

I was gonna say Arizona

1

u/Melodic_Cheek9304 8h ago

I don't even know how Nevada looks but that was my first thought as well

1

u/Imsosadsoveryverysad 8h ago

I was thinking Utah but yeah pick a big west square state lol

1

u/not_a_moogle 8h ago

I was waiting for a guy in the background to be waving.

1

u/flexurs 8h ago

We have mars at home

Mars at home:

1

u/binkadinkadoo 8h ago

beat me to it.

1

u/DonHectorHector 8h ago

Oh wow, different deserts look alike? Who would've thought?

1

u/traevyn 8h ago

Lmao growing up in Vegas and taking day trips out to the desert I was like, bro this looks exactly like the Mojave

1

u/CornCobOverlord 8h ago

They film at least one of these a month on the Rez! Homemade Mars footage.

1

u/Soggy_Mood8061 8h ago

That was my exact first thought. "Man it looks like nevada, I should comment that"

1

u/No_Instance1155 7h ago

It kind of looks like Nevada.

1

u/No_Instance1155 7h ago

It kind of looks like Nevada.

1

u/New_Breadfruit8692 7h ago

Came just to say this and I lived in Nevada, so I was going to guess it is really in Area 51.

1

u/CharacterSecurity976 7h ago

Looks like Earth, simply.

1

u/heraclitus33 7h ago

Let's build the casinos

1

u/Used-Barnacle-9783 7h ago

I was watching For All Mankind recently and the surface of Mars on that show struck me as kind of... boring? Low effort? Like slight reddish tint on a normal desert. But then I looked up some recent Mars photography and damn if that isn't just what Mars looks like

1

u/GameWizardPlayz 7h ago

You're gonna freak out when you find out they're made of the same things

1

u/Afterfoxxfluff 7h ago

I was just going to say, it look like my friends back yard (she's from Nevada) 😂 made me giggle

1

u/MutantApocalypse 7h ago

"He always wanted to drift forever. But through the American southwest."

1

u/Background_Ad1634 7h ago

That can't be. America is fake and all footage of "Nevada" is actually taken on Mars.

1

u/KaerMorhenZireael 6h ago

Pics of Area 51 Mars

1

u/sunnysam306 6h ago

I thought looks like the aftermath of burning man

1

u/Agave22 6h ago

Looks more like the desert between Blythe and Palm Springs and probably gets about the same amount of precip.

1

u/Br0metheus 6h ago

Literally came here to say this. Once had to drive from Las Vegas to Reno and it virtually all looked like this.

1

u/goobilou 5h ago

I was going to say that! 🤣

1

u/Surftoes 5h ago

This thread is outstanding.

1

u/jfranci3 5h ago

They always talk about terraforming Mars. We couldn’t terraform Nevada. We can barely terraform a new square miles with a water source right there. Elon dreams about living on Mars, but even a devastated Earth is way better than an improved Mars

1

u/mka_ 5h ago

I was thinking Fuerteventura.

1

u/trivialmistake 2h ago

Thats why they also attract aliens

u/Unlikely_Flower_138 33m ago

Holy shit! Guys! Mars is N E V A D A ! ! !

Edit: I’ll build Vegas if someone supplies the substances. Deal or no deal?
