People laugh about flip flops, but for thousands or years armies climbed mountains and conquered kingdoms with just flip flops. These folks are successfully climbing wet steps and it's working.

Reminds me of video of the monk walking the mountain barefoot while tourist are using climbing gear.

Most of the world doesn't have access to fancy shoes.

the fumbest sh*t i've seen in rl so far was a british woman (she was lovely though) doing a cave tour in Styria, Austria wearing high heels. she mire than once almost broke her shit after being told she couldn't enter the cave this way. but she insisted that it was fine

Have you tried hiking with a running shoes? The thin ones like addidas ultraboost? That almost killed me several times when the ground was wet. I bought a hiking shoes right after. Imagine sandals..... The place I was hiking wasn't even as steep as this. It was muddier tho.

Having fun is one thing. Climbing a bitch of a mountain like this one in flip-flops where one small slip means literal death is another. They can go ahead and climb the mountain. Just don't expect everyone to weep if they fall. I'd weep for their children instead.

The steps seem to be so shit, that they need to be pulled up regularily. pulling up otherswhileyou "shoes" have no profile sure feels like something you should not do. especially if there is a lineof30 other people right below you.

Ya those are my thoughts as well, other climbers are one of the biggest hazards you can face and none of these people look like they do much hiking. Mountains are already unpredictable enough without a bunch of “dumbinos” f*ckin things up, scary 😱

Just looked it up and there is indeed a significant amount of people who live there. I’m not surprised because I’ve seen some incredible dangerously hard to reach towns that have a good population, but videos like this from the first person perspective still make me feel like I’m on the verge of fainting.

I have such a bad fear of heights that even this made me feel clammy, some people are just built differently and i'm happy I'm not the type to climb up a mountainside in fog, like I wouldn't even be near here cause my knees be buckling if I watched them climb this in real life 🤣

Was there ever any building or enclosed structure here historically? Based on my understanding of the word "fort" I was expecting to see like a mini castle or ramparts etc on top but didn't see anything on the vids/pics I googled.

It's a hill fort. That is, the summit itself is a tactical point which is merely surrounded by a wall, instead of there being an enclosed structure there.

The fog is whatever, the wetness is the scary part, though at least those stones look rough and not slippery.

Reminds me a bit of Pedra da Gávea trail in Rio, in it being steep enough to be a scary climb, but not steep enough to justify doing it with equipment.

The wetness makes it pretty dangerous but it doesn't seem that bad of a climb given the 80 degree ascent. There are at least some handholds and (higher up) railings. This video is at an odd angle. It isn't a beginner level climb but it is pretty commonly completed by tourists. Lot of unsurprising fearmongering itt.
