The people around him were the ones most interested in keeping him where he was because his passive and disinterested managerial style enabled them to effectively do whatever they wanted.
Hitler, as a dictator, did very little. He hated bureaucracy, details, and planning; he preferred to delegate high level tasks -- often to multiple people -- and would act as a final decision maker and tie breaker. All of the power with little of the mental responsibility. This led to a lot of people vying for his attention and affection because that was often the best way to get a pet project greenlit.
It's almost certain that Hitler had ADHD, much of his early years tracks with this.
In fact, I would go as far as to say that Hitler often kept the more extreme and revolutionary elements of the NSDAP in check by denying their ambitions, at least during the early to mid 1930s.
As a person with ADHD I understand how quickly we can get trapped in a thought cycle and really convince ourselves to do something impulsive or stupid. Not "Kill all the Jews" stupid though. I think he was not after the Jews that much, he just hired the people who were.

The industrial scale extermination of Jews in Europe wasn't Hitler's brainchild, it was architected by Heydrich and Himmler acting under Goering's direction.
Goering was either acting autonomously or he was trying to interpret some vague directive from Hitler himself.
There's no written order or directive from Hitler ordering the mass extermination of Jews in Europe much less direction on how to do it. Furthermore, no one who was involved in the construction or operation of the death camps said anything to the effect of "Hitler told me to do it".
This doesn't mean that Hitler is blameless because he often spoke in high-level vague generalities which were difficult to interpret and were devoid of particulars, he certainly knew about the extermination camps and had no problem with them, and had authorized in general the existing Nazi euthanasia program to the extent that someone put paperwork infront of him that could bear his signature.
In other words, it was far easier to get approval from Hitler to do something than it was to get instructions from him on what to do.

Yeah this is what people fail to take into account. He was indoctrinated at a young age and had an absolutely awful childhood that left him deeply traumatised. It’s hard to have empathy for someone that is responsible for the horrors of the war and holocaust but I think his brain was just broken at some point.

Basically as mediocre of a guy that Hitler is/was, he is still much better than you and the vast majority of people at grasping opportunities that appeared before him.
Well, that can tell you a lot about humans. The nazis where just humans too, delusional humans who trapped themselves in an echochamber thinking they are good and everyone else different is evil. But they were still humans, very human if you think about it. The motherfucker cared for animals and was an artist btw.
Something like this is always interesting to me. The reaction he gives is playful and human. But knowing the atrocities he personally called for that led to deaths of millions of people.

Germany was subjugated to pay the WWI war debt of all the allied nations and prohibited from raising an army. He somehow took that and built what he did, insanely fast- it’s funny that people can’t learn from what he did RIGHT. Like giving cheap home loans to new families and incentivizing population growth by reducing the loan balance -25% per child you have. I was taught about that policy with the context of “Hitler viewed women as breeding stock and forced them to have kids”. But compare that to what we have today- 2 income households are essential to survive and childcare costs so much that people are not having kids anymore. Like we literally have the playbook in front of us but we refuse to admit it- just skip all the parts about eugenics and racism, but learn from the past on what strengthens a society

I agree that people are too willing to ignore the fact that he was a human and portray as some cartoon villain. Facing their own potential for horrible behavior makes them uncomfortable
Oh I’m not saying he was revolutionary or solved a philosophical problem others had failed at before him- but just as we assess our current state of affairs, we’d be remiss to not be open to the conversation of “how did the silly mustache man handle that one- Germany was handling a similar issue when he took power?”
The scary thing is that he was. So were all of the people that committed genocide at his behest. We like to tell ourselves that they were monsters because that helps us distance ourselves from them, but the truth is that yes, human beings truly are capable of absolute evil.
