The implosion of the Titan submarine (OceanGate) was so rapid that the pain wasn't even registered by the brain. They didn't feel anything at all. Utterly instantaneous.

While it DOES seem like the best possible way to go, until it happens, I’ll have at least a small bit of anxiety as, somewhere in my brain, I’ll now be forever thinking “aaaaaany minute now…”

It’s scary to think about while still conscious. But if you could somehow think about it after death, it’s the most desirable outcome.

Have you never been anesthetized? It’s like that. Total lost time. You go from being put under to waking up with no sense of time lost. You are literally taken out of consciousness. It’s not like sleeping. It’s like nothing at all. The only difference is of course that in that case you do come back. But for most of us it’s the closest we’ll probably come to experiencing death while still alive.
