The implosion of the Titan submarine (OceanGate) was so rapid that the pain wasn't even registered by the brain. They didn't feel anything at all. Utterly instantaneous.

There is an audio of what happened?

Sorta kinda yeah. There’s one video where Rush is recoding a test dive or some shit and you can hear constant creaking throughout the ‘sub’ and feel his uneasiness. However there’s no actual ‘black box’ device in the sense of hearing what all went down that day in the cabin. Instead it’s a clip of his wife and support team above water staring at the monitor trying to contact them when all of a sudden you hear a faint “bloop” or “bang” come from the subs coms. One of the guys looks over at his wife and you can tell he knows what happened.

Edit: I don’t think they were trying to contacting them, just talking to each other where they should be at sea level wise.

Did it come through coms? I thought they heard it through the hull, the navy certainly heard it.

I think you are correct. The “bang” made it to the hull before the last message “dropped two weights” made it back to the audio from the Titan. Which is fucking insane if you ask me.

I think it was more that the message decode took a long time, like 10-30 seconds. So the message arrived before the bang, but didn't finish decoding till after it.

As usual, the real horror is in the details.

If they were dropping weights, it certainly means they knew they’re in serious danger. The 19 year-old boy must’ve been absolutely terrified. So while death was instantaneous, they were probably in intense fear for an extended period before that. They knew exactly what was going on.
