I never understood why the force electricity gave palpatine a butt head and turned into a creepy goblin. 

I always thought the emperor was just old as fuck in the original trilogy. Like used to force to live past a normal human lifetime. But somehow palpatine returned

He always looked like that, but used his powers to create a glamour to look normal and hide his evil and age.

At the point when he faces Mace Windu, he gets his powers deflected back against him and that dispels the glamour from his body. After that I dont remember if he just gives up on using it again or if he simply cant use it anymore.

The point he threw Mace out the window, no more fucks were given. No need to waste energy on it anyway, when you can blame your dark-side goblin face on the eeevil jedi.

Is that cannon? And is it still cannon? I always just assumed he got fucked up from the lighting, he did just get blasted in the face with it and was struggling untill Anakin came along and saved him. Always thought it was funny boba fett can cross out of the sarlac but the most powerful out of the 3 black people in the galaxy gets just throw and that's it, it's just accepted he's dead despite many other jedis not being killed by just being thrown

Pretty sure the canon is that his face got melted by the lightning deflected from the lightsaber. In my mind though it’s because he’s irreversibly giving himself to the dark side with this, and it mutates and corrupts him. Same reason Anakin got Sith eyes except Palpatine is like 1000x worse.

He uses the deformity to pin the jedi as evil.
