I’m selling a guitar for $125 and this is the email I got in my junk folder when the person tried to send the amount. I’ve definitely received higher than this amount through Zelle, just not a business account. I gave the person my number and email so they could try to Zelle me but I’ve never gotten an email from this address before. I’m just confused because I know Zelle is legit and it’s not like it’s telling ME to send extra money. This has to be a scam right? Or has anyone else with Zelle had to do this? The person I’m talking with has been kind of pushy too which feels like a big sign

Hi everyone!

I applied for an Analyst job in Vancouver BC through LinkedIn and was directed to a website of that company that looks pretty legit. Applied straight through their career page, received confirmation quickly, and a few days later, received the below email asking me to complete two online assessments.

I’m starting to think that this is a scam, given that the assessment link looks suspicious. Can you please let me know if you have ever heard of this assessment organization or tried it before? I haven’t clicked the link yet as i’m scared there might be consequences.

There are some redflags through out the process, but also some green flags (reviews on Glassdoor, real employee on LinkedIn that interacts with actual profiles,…) so I’m very confused.

Haven’t posted on here but thought I could use some guidance. For context, a good friend of mine has been frequently giving large amounts of money to this account and is currently setting up a large fundraiser event for this person that im assisting with. The account is for someone in Gaza named Ayham, and variations of this account have existed over the span of around a year or so. I had never looked into the account because frankly I haven’t had any money I could give even if I wanted to, and after looking into it I worry it’s a scam.

The current account only has two or three posts on it, and one of the newest ones I saw on the highlight was a post requesting $70 for a gym membership. This was the first thing that made me question the account because a gym membership is a pretty extravagant request when lots of people in Gaza are starving and need funds for actually urgent needs. When looking into the account and doing a basic Google image search I couldn’t find any results for the images that appear on the account, or any information on this person other than what’s on instagram. The account says it’s based in Palestine according to Instagram but I image this is simple to mess with and change.

The reason I am looking into this so deeply is because my friend is 100% convinced this account is legit and has been sending money to it for the last year, and I would really like to have some kind of proof or concrete explanation for it. I know Gaza relief scams have become common with lots of people exploiting the situation for money, and while it would be easiest to start sending funds to a organization with a reputation I fear that my friend is too far deep to be easily convinced. While I am looking for any proof this account is legit and hoping my friend hasn’t wasted so much money to a scam I haven’t been able to find any. Advice would be much appreciated!

I’ve seen some obvious scammers comment on my listings with a “sister that wants this I’m just too old to understand this new technology thingy 😂” but this one’s a little different. Not sure how I’d get scammed for just giving my Venmo CR code for him to send the money. What do you think? Is it a high risk to give him my payment code? He asked if it was in good condition and where I was located. I told him then asked if he was interested. He said yeah he is and if I was willing to ship the stuff if he covered the shipping fee. So I had someone DM me on tiktok asking to paint a picture of me from one of my videos. I'd asked how much I had to pay, but they said they'd actually be paying ME $300 to make an oil painting of me but it sounds a bit suspicious to me. For context Im not popular in anyway and work in fast food so getting 300 from someone else painting me sounds a little to good to be true?? Maybe I'm just pessimistic I'm not sure. On top of that idk if giving them my cashapp information could be enough for them to do anything. Sorry if this sounds really stupid, i just dk if I should trust it so forgive my ignorance

Like the title says, this morning a man (probably mid-20s) approached me in my apartment building’s parking lot and said he left his watch in the building next door. I told him I don’t know anybody who lives there. He then asks me if he can use my phone to call the police; as he’s saying this he pulls out his phone. This is when I start getting suspicious—if he has his phone on him, why would he need mine to make a call? I said I needed to leave, got in my car, and drove off.

I’ve seen posts/stories about this being a scam—somebody asks to make a call on your phone, then opens your banking app/venmo and transfers money. Was this what I experienced? Or was I just an a-hole to some random guy who needed help?

Edit: thank you for all the helpful comments! I agree that it was 100% a scam (or at the very least a sketchy situation). The guy was definitely not the brightest, but I guess I wasn’t either for even thinking about handing him my phone 😭
