PROJECT DISPLAY Client commission: Hand-carved lavender jadeite dragon plaque set into a custom high-karat gold cuff with Greek key accents
Just wrapped up this custom heirloom commission for a client!
The Stone: The client brought in this natural lavender jadeite plaque featuring an intricate carved dragon with icy translucency.
The Build: Hand-fabricated in high-karat yellow gold. To honor the carving while keeping it wearable, we integrated a Greek key (meander) openwork pattern along the bezel walls and side bands.
The Engineering: Because carved jade slabs are delicate and uneven, we built an independent two-piece frame. An open back plate locks the plaque securely from the reverse without glue, allowing natural sunlight to shine through the stone.
The Wear: Finished with dual side hinges and a heavy-duty box clasp with a safety latch for everyday security.
Really proud of how this one came together for the client. What do you think of the pairing between traditional Chinese jade and geometric Greek goldwork?
