It is incredibly helpful to jump rope in front of a mirror for real time form & technique feedback. If you don't have a mirror available, record yourself so you can review it or share it. HINT: Most phones have SLOW MOTION capabilities. This is a great tool for identifying issues in your mechanics.
If you need help with something specific, let us know in a post and community members will be happy to help!
*NOTE: if needing help with form or technique, a video is very helpful. Try to get a straight on shot as well as from the side.

I decided to start doing this after my normal jump ropes.
I'm hoping to get enough to go for a minute.

Which do you synchronize to the beat: the rope hitting the ground, or your feet hitting the ground?
For me it feels wrong when the rope isn't timed to the beat, but then if I try to get a bit shuffle-y/dance-y it feels wrong for my feet to not be coming down on the beat

Took all your advice (thank you!)
Dropped the number of intervals to 5 and made them 5 minutes long so still 25 minutes of jump rope work in total. Dropped the rest time where I jog on the spot to 80 seconds.
Felt good.
Have a great day all.

Hey does anyone have any advice on how to deal with or cure shin splints? I stopped jumping at the start of the year because of it and I wanna get back into it but my shins are stopping me. Any advice other than icing because that hasn’t really helped…

Continuing on to share my daily skipping. I work in the trades and earlier this year started Tie Dye Tuesday and Fun Shirt-Funky Fridays with my crew to have a few laughs and lighten things up. All that to say, it’s also carried over to the skipping on those days. Hope you enjoy my 80s fit for Fun Shirt-Funky Fridays earlier this month.

Double-unders mixed with crossover double-unders, multiple reps nonstop. Skipping is now my daily warm-up, and consistency is making every jump feel smoother and more effortless.

A little bit of skipping and a whole lot of vibing. About an hour between 2 days compressed into a minute edit. Hope you enjoy.

We could also call this: Operation Trash the New Guy. I'm good with that, too. Experienced jumpers (u/Dionysus970 and u/Isa_fit , I'm looking at you), I would welcome your advice & criticism. For context, I'm a beginner and this is my third session. I filmed so that I could review the tape and make corrections to my form.
Here's what I think is decent:
Posture straight
Not jumping too high
No kicking back
Upper arms are not moving excessively
Here's what I see wrong:
Right arm is drifting out
May need more wrist flick & less forearm
Basically everything else....😉
I would really appreciate y'all's insight. Thank you very much!

Is there a reason nobody is skipping on grass? I've seen videos here of people who have covered grass with a matt. Why is that? For the sake of the rope? For levelling the ground? For cushioning the impact?

Started filming to work on form and track improvement etc. And having fun with edits as well now. A lot of this communities posts keep me inspired to jump daily so thank you to everyone who shares. Skipping as a daily movement for the win!

I'm currently doing intervals. 4 mins jump rope and 1 min off (jog on spot) x 6 and then do a final 1 minute because I want 25 mins of jump rope work total.
What's the best way to progressive overload? Keep overall time the same but try to extend the jump rope intervals? Add intervals? I want better endurance ideally.

Hello there
I’ve got a question. How important is it to jump on a dedicated rubber mat? Could I just jump on my concrete terrace instead or would you not do that?
Many thanks!

Honestly going from struggling to do a 100 jumps to this. It’s been a journey. I’m going to get a fat pizza.
