First time using Karafun

At an outdoor lakeside bar, KJ is using Karafun... Lyrics are a couple of beats behind... Is this normal?

Not usually... it depends normally on the lag between the computer and the TV.

My friends use karafun and at 3 of their venues there's little to no lag. At one its very noticeable.

Same laptop. Same speakers and mixer. Different TVs.

Most TVs have a setting in their output (usually called "Game Mode" or "PC Mode") to remove the input lag from a connected laptop or device. Check the settings on the output device and you should be able to fix this.

It’s not normal. It sounds like you have some latency introduced by the connection to the TV or sound system or both.

As others have said, it's lag on the video side of things. Only one TV? Are they casting to using actual HDMI connection?

Karafun is not the problem, it’s a hardware or connection issue

Hiya !
As others have said, the problem could be tied to the TV, or the connection between the device and TV

That being said, we also have "community songs" where the synchronization is done by users, so if you played such a song, maybe you just happened to find one where the lyrics were not synced properly?

Knowing if it happened with all songs or just one would help here.
