I recently saw a video with subtitles that have this particular style with each word having a different color and a different background, with different sizes:

I mean to use the subtitle track.

I know I could always use Title clips to create them, but that's very time consuming for 1 minute reels with lots of text, so I'd rather use Whisper for the auto generation and the subtitle track.

Are ASS codes the way to go here? Is there another option?

I use Kdenlive 26.04.3 on Windows.

Ive Been Using Kdenlive for a long time now, but recently, it simply doesnt want to show the video output in the clip or project monitor. Ive tried using the appimage aswell but ive just gotten the same issue ?
It understand the video is there and happily plays the audio, but it doesnt show any video (I have tried with other recordings to see if it was an recording issue but it is only Kdenlive not accepting the video)

Any help would be nice

Hi! I'm doing some animation compositing and added a few outlines to the transparent video (ProRes 4444). It leaves this ugly empty pixel around the whole thing (on the pic). It doesn't bother me on white or pink, since it's not as visible, but the black one is particularly on the nose. Is there some way to patch it up?

Version is 26.04, Windows, official installer.

Update: In case someone finds this post few years later and have the same problem, an easy patch is to add a super small, black drop shadow without any offset under the outline. If I find a better solution I'll update again.

If we make a track without giving it any name, could we still be able to name/rename it? if yes then how because i can't figure it out.

Hello, I have a lil problem. I been editing a video and I notice one part of my audio was wrong so I went and reedited it in audacity, saved it as a diffrent file (eg. 'audio v2') and imported it into kden. Except it just keeps playing the v1 wrong version for some reason. In audacity the v2 audio is fine. I kept deleting both versions of the audio and tried changing the audio to WAV, changing the name and location of the file, but kden just keeps playing the wrong v1 version. (windows)
Does anyone know how to fix it?

How do i remove the name from that file in the timeline, it is really disturbing when marking beats.

Its the latest version of kdenlive though ( 26.08.0 )

Hello I recently updated my kdenlive app and I ran into a few problems.

1. The captions are way smaller than before I updated and I can't seem to edit them properly without crashing.
2. The effect "Zoom/pan" pauses the entire clip, which is inconvenient.
3. Sliders for positions, scales, heights and axles are gone. Is there a way to bring them back?

edit2: I created the new file in Manage Subtitles menu and it fixed the font sizes.

I've been experimenting with Kdenlive for some of my music projects and wanted to try making something more than a static image + audio.

This is Ritual Initiation, a dark/cinematic orchestral instrumental. I built the video around Kdenlive's spectrum visualizer, generated artwork, and some simple visual effects.

I'm still learning the visualizer side of Kdenlive, so I'd especially love some advice from people who have more experience with it.

For example:

• What visualizer settings tend to work well for orchestral music?
• Are there particular spectrum/bar/waveform settings that work better for slower cinematic sections versus more intense sections?
• Is a spectrum visualizer + artwork + effects enough to keep people engaged in a music video, or should I be adding more visual movement?
• What visual techniques would you use to make an orchestral track feel more dynamic without making the visuals distracting?
• And from a YouTube perspective, what usually helps keep someone watching a music video like this?

I'd genuinely appreciate any criticism or suggestions. I'm trying to improve my editing rather than just make another video and move on. 😄

Also, huge thanks to the Kdenlive team. The built-in audio visualization was surprisingly easy to work with compared with some of the other visualizer tools I've tried. Even rendering this on my old ThinkPad T490 was pretty painless.

What would you change?

I had a mental breeakdown trying to do what takes 5 seconds in clipchamp and none of the solutions i found online did what im trying to do. I cant use clipchamp because im on linux

Strangely enough, I have modified the keyframes for a slide-right effect and have not found a way to save the modified version.

I found the workaround by rebuilding it in a transform effect. Just validating that there is no template or preset save for these effect types.

It would be great to have this feature. I'm happy to submit a development user story about it.

Hello, say I have 1 long video with 100 cuts separated clips, but I want to grab 25 clips together and apply that effect to each one of clips, instead of doing it manually to each clip (drag drop effect). I know I can add the effect to just All clips within the timeline video track.

Is there any effect or technique editors have used to highlight each word spoken in subtitles, kind of karaoke style

Im trying to rearrange the UI, but the windows I want to move dont have a header bar?

Mostly I want my clip import/browser and effects etc bundled together to the left and my clip viewer top center. At the moment its squished to the right, top to bottom.

I just updated KDen to trim up a clip. When I imported my clip it asked if I wanted to change my project settings to match, when I clicked yes it changed my whole UI setup. Ive tried resetting the UI, but I guess whatever this is is the new default?

I'm trying to make a video with Kdenlive, but it wont let me save my progress. Whenever I try to save the project to a folder, it will just open the folder and not actually save the project. I am using Linux mint cinnamon version 22.3 with kernel 7 and an RX 9060 XT.

I'm using kdenlive to convert some audiobooks (probably not its intended use but oh well). Basically, CD goes in the disc drive, audio files ripped using windows media player, then drag and drop the files into kdenlive to merge them into one file and call it a 'disc'.

The issue comes when importing the ripped audio files to the sequence file before use. I have noticed that it cuts between half a second to a second of audio from the end of the file, this is fine if there is just dead air at the end of a track, but it is sometimes cutting off the last word or words from a sentence. I only noticed it doing this after converting 8-9 full audiobooks like this...rip me

Is there any way I can stop this loss?

(Version 26.04.01 of Kdenlive, Windows 11)

I'd like to put the image on the left in the center of the TV to the right, but the shape isn't a perfect square so I'm wondering what effects I could use to adjust the edges. Additionally, the TV will be moving. Will I need to mask because of the odd shape?
