I have been considering doing a basement business making keycap sets and selling them.
Rest assured, I do not think Iâll get rich doing it, but I like the idea of designing a set and justâŠâŠprinting them.
I have been wavering back and forth on the Morpho UV printer, as well as a real commercial dyeSub vacuum. Not a suitcase but the real deal (albeit the entry level of the real deal).
My designs arenât high artisan-ship, mostly just color themes and fun with legends.
The ABS plus UV print side has interesting variations because of the RGB fun you can have with translucent ABS. Base caps colors in bulk are probably limited.
The dyeSub plus PBT opens the color wheel up to anything you can imagine in CMYK, but itâs a trickier process and of course, thereâs no shine through option. But the permanent of the design adds to a feeling of a âgood keycapâ imo. These legends wonât chip and fade.
Anyway, I donât have a direct question but I wonder what you all think about going down one path or another.
Thanks!
