Question Amazon Kids+

What is Amazon Kids+? I pay for it monthly, and have always wondered what exactly it is. Got an email that it's going up to $8.99/mth and figured now was the time to ask.

We have the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Pro tablet. My child uses it to watch YouTube and play some games (Roblox, Bloon Monkeys, Merge Dragons).

Do I need Amazon Kids+?

It’s not like this info is hard to find. Five seconds worth of typing it into Google will give OP the answer.

Kind of ridiculous they’re paying for something and don’t know what it is

I “know what it is”. It’s a subscription that gives access to content. But what’s not clear to me is whether the apps my child uses is part of that of not.

I’d put a stop to your kid playing Roblox. It is a dangerous game for kids to be playing

Those games are free

It provides your kids a curated set of games and shows appropriate for their age. They do the installing and watching.

If you switch to a regular android tablet, the parental controls are amazing. However, you'll have to get a notification when they want a game, and approve it. I personally wish I had switched away from Amazon sooner and dropped that fee.

Bonus, around Thanksgiving the fire tablets are on sale. They will come with 1 year of that access. I was buying a new tablet just to get the access. Sometimes it even works with things like a Kids Echo.

Exactly. 😅 This is what I do. I get an upgraded tablet and the subscription for the full year.

I honestly don’t think it’s worth it. Idk I just got my daughter a new tablet and was excited because then I got to use mine. Turns out you can’t really control anything other than the time they can use it and a couple of the content. So, now we don’t use it. Kind of made my life easier other than the adds. Which I guess teaches my kid to wait. Im also kind of strict on games… but shes only 7.

Not sure about the monkey game but I know the others you listed are not part of the amazon kids.

Do they read any of the books or watch any of the shows that are included with amazon kids? Also, I don’t have my kids handy but if I recall correctly from memory, the games that are part of the kids+ play have a little + symbol in the bottom corner of the app.. or it may even say amazon kids.
