Super frustrated with inconsistent catching
I’ve been playing lacrosse since spring, and catchings always been a big issue for me. Normal speed and accurate passes i can usually get, but a lot of hard passes and not so accurate ones trip me up a lot. After the spring season was over, I played a lot of wall ball over the summer but now when we have fall ball, I feel like my catching hasn’t improved that much.
Ive looked at a lot of tips online, saying things like keep your top hand up (which I do) , keeping soft hands, bringing your stick back, and watching the ball into the net. I try to implement these 4 the best I can, but I don’t know. I think maybe I get too nervous when the ball gets passed to me and I forgot to do some of these things. Or maybe it’s some other thing, but I don’t know what.
Like I said , it’s a really big issue and I hate it, because playing as a middie means I should be catching almost all the passes I get. But I’m not. Every time I drop the ball from a pass I lose a lot of confidence. I want to be one of the best players on my team, but not being able to catch is holding me back skill wise and confidence wise.
Any advice would help. I saw something where you play wall ball with a tennis ball, might try that out this weekend.
