Super frustrated with inconsistent catching

Upvotes

I’ve been playing lacrosse since spring, and catchings always been a big issue for me. Normal speed and accurate passes i can usually get, but a lot of hard passes and not so accurate ones trip me up a lot. After the spring season was over, I played a lot of wall ball over the summer but now when we have fall ball, I feel like my catching hasn’t improved that much.

Ive looked at a lot of tips online, saying things like keep your top hand up (which I do) , keeping soft hands, bringing your stick back, and watching the ball into the net. I try to implement these 4 the best I can, but I don’t know. I think maybe I get too nervous when the ball gets passed to me and I forgot to do some of these things. Or maybe it’s some other thing, but I don’t know what.

Like I said , it’s a really big issue and I hate it, because playing as a middie means I should be catching almost all the passes I get. But I’m not. Every time I drop the ball from a pass I lose a lot of confidence. I want to be one of the best players on my team, but not being able to catch is holding me back skill wise and confidence wise.

Any advice would help. I saw something where you play wall ball with a tennis ball, might try that out this weekend.

Why are all the Gloves White colored?

Old timer here. My HS colors are Black & Gold, and now the entire team is wearing White gloves. All the opponents gloves were White too. Its NorCal so it ain't that hot. I also noticed they are not mismatched anymore, looked like everyone had the same type. Is there a reason?

Best stick for $200

Upvotes

I am a HS senior doing lax for the first time and I need a long pole. I have $200 to spend on the stick, so are there any good options for that? I have a lax unlimited store near me if you have any recommendations there.

Middle school youth football/Q Collar

Looking for honest feedback from youth sports parents, coaches and pediatricians.

My 12-year-old tried on a Q-Collar for football and really disliked how tight it felt on his neck. I also noticed the manufacturer/FDA guidelines mention age 13+

For parents whose kids have tried it: Did your child get used to the fit, or did you switch to other protective gear like Guardian Caps? How did your pediatricians feel about it?

Juniors - BREATH! If your phone doesn't ring the world isn't over!

at Midnight, a handful of phones will ring. Throughout the day about 90 more will. If you are hoping to get a call, don't worry if you don't. The process takes time and after all is said and done, LACROSSE IS NOT A MAJOR.

Adult Beginner

So I’m 36 and had never even seen lacrosse until I was 30. Flash forward a few years and my son has played for 4 seasons, I’m coaching our local K-2 team, and am quickly becoming a lax-rat. That said, I never played and I really think it would be fun to join an adult league. I can pass/catch, scoop gb’s, generally understand what’s happening on the field, but is that enough? I live in Southern Ohio between Cincinnati & Dayton and there are a few leagues that advertise as “all skill levels welcome” but are they just being nice? Any advice on getting started or should I just stick to coaching and chirp about how good I might have been? 😂

What are some of the disappointments you've encountered at lacrosse events/prospect camps/showcases?

I'll start:

“40+ COLLEGE COACHES ATTENDING!”

Great. But attending what?

The event is advertised to multiple graduation years, and the coach list is a huge part of what you're paying for. Then you get there and discover that most of those coaches are assigned to the recruiting-year fields. Your younger kid may technically be at an event with 40 college coaches, but he's playing three fields away from virtually all of them. And sometimes that impressive list of “attending coaches” somehow gets considerably shorter on event day.

Adult Men’s Lacrosse League RI/MA/CT

Other than ULAX, are there any men’s lacrosse leagues or pick up games going on in Rhode Island, Mass, or CT? I am aware about ONELL but it’s the offseason and I’m looking to play fall ball but don’t necessarily want to run with all the 20 yr old college kids in a very competitive league. I hear ULAX is mostly active college players and I’d be joining as a free agent at 29. I plan to play O-30s winter and summer.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Built this rebounder last weekend. Works great but now I was to add some wheels for ease of movement. Any ideas?

Currently considering putting 4x4 PT rails at the base and screwing wheels directly into same.

Ottawa Bears Lacrosse Jersey

I’m looking for a Bear’s lacrosse jersey, adult XL or XXL. The team just folded and had a clear out sale. Unfortunately I was travelling for work and didn’t hear about it until after it was over. Sens store has nothing, nor does their website. Anyone see one in stores or have one for sale ? It’s a birthday gift for my cousin who is a huge lacrosse fan
