Resources Anki Sentence Mining Alternative Apps
Migaku is my gold standard, and it's what I'll be returning to (at least for a month to make a ton of cards before unsubscribing), but the cost does add up. However it has always been reliable, easy, and most importantly streamlined. I feel like I can enjoy what I'm watching, which I can't say in regards to yomitan / asb player.
I mostly mine Japanese and Chinese, watching my content on youtube and netflix.
Are there any alternatives to sentence mining that are just as streamlined as Migaku, but aren't yomitan/asb player? Preferably free, but even something cheaper than Migaku would be great. Anki integration is also a requirement.
Please don't try to convince me to just use yomi/asb. I do not like the flow of it, and if I don't like something, I simply won't do it. I am looking for alternatives.
Thanks! (TL)

https://github.com/thecopybookhare-cmd/lingua-miner might be the closest one to Migaku, but didn't try it either.

e fighting them, which makes it hard to be consistent. have you considered using a screenshot tool and then just copying the text yourself?

Language Reactor (formerly Language Learning with Netflix) is worth a look, it has a free tier and syncs to AnkiConnect directly so you keep your existing deck structure. Works on YouTube and Netflix, not just Netflix like the old name suggests.
If you're mining from raw video/audio rather than streaming, Substudy will chop subtitles into sentence-aligned clips you can batch import, but it's rougher around the edges than Migaku, more of a DIY pipeline than a polished tool.
Honestly for JP/CN specifically the gap between Migaku and everything else is real, that's why people keep paying for it despite the cost. The free options get you 70 percent of the way there.

Honestly the jump from Migaku to yomitan feels like going from a nice kitchen to a campfire, some people love the campfire but I just want the food to cook itself

Exactly. All things considered I think the purchase is very justified. It just adds up quickly.

I am able to use asb player and yomitan. I have it setup. I just don't like it. People have also gotten to proficiency without technology / sentence mining / SRS apps. I am still doing that when I'm not reviewing my existing anki cards.
Being a nice person is free, ya know.

While I agree yomitan + asb is optimal, since you don't have to pay, and the only thing Migaku actually offers is a nicer UI, streamlining, AI courses, and more AI to add to your cards. There is also a way to say it without being rude or mean to people you disagree with. It's a reddit thread my guy, you don't have to be here. Trying to educate and being genuine will always be better than bullying.

Honestly I just use ABS player, Migaku always felt like overkill for what I needed.

I'm just saying given the topic at hand you didn't offer much to the thread.

I've been building LangPanda the last couple months. It's still a work in progress, however free free to check it out. There is a quite a bit of free features and the paid plan is more affordable than Migaku. I used Migaku and ASB / yomitan for many years and wanted to build something better that also supports the languages I am learning. It has full Anki support with the extension and you can also mine on mobile then export to Anki on the website. I am also learning Japanese and Chinese. The parsing for Japanese isn't perfect yet and I'm still working on improving it however the Chinese parsing works very well.

If it helps, here's a few free alternatives with Anki integration for sentence mining, but I'm not familiar with Migaku and its features, didn't try https://github.com/asbplayer/asbplayer or any app from the provided list.
