Luxury?  Twenty-four hours at my complete disposal each and every day, for the fulfillment of my slightest desire.  The hours are tall girls of shining white standing in the sunlight to serve me.  If I want to spend two days on my cot reading a novel, who's to stop me?  If I feel like taking off at twilight into the forest, who will dissuade me?  The solitary woodsman has two loves, time and space.  The first he uses as he pleases; the second he knows through and through.

Some motivation for the good fight this week.

I here there are several stages of head game for the first two years of FIRE. Stage one is kinda like you are just on a long vacation, it hasnt clicked you might have to go back to work next week or next month etc "when you get back".

Ill be honest, im not getting that vibe. After a bit over 6 months in after let go, it feels more like 6 months of sick leave. "im only home because i cant return to work". I feel i shouldnt be out running errands or mowing the lawn when i "should be at work". I feel guilty about doing things that i would not normally do when im sick and trying to get well.

I hope this long vacation feeling comes pretty soon. Right now the only good thing is i dont get the sunday dreads, and after 4pm i dont crumble when the phone/text goes off and think its an oncall problem with one of my work machines.

Interesting take, my experience hasn't felt the same. Have you spent time pursuing hobbies? I'm 1.5 years in and it's felt pretty much the same the whole time to me, but I went 100% in on spending my extra time on my hobbies right away. That was sorta my goal though, I guess everyone has different goals.

I have found that I try to be more considerate of other people's time, eg by default I assume everyone else is in a rush and doing something more important than me. Not that I feel guilty about it, but I recognize I'm experiencing the luxury of time that most working people don't have.

Maybe the trick to not feeling guilty about being succesful enough not to work, is to realize the person doing your old job needs it more than you?

Or you can realize that society will do anything to tell an able bodied working age man that he is only valued for his work/money and anything else is a waste.

Then its much easier to be a rebel against that.

There is a need for people to actually succeed to show others that it is possible.

Monday morning meetings testing my mettle this morning. That alliteration was entirely accidental.

I liked when i got in trouble for calling it a "meeting meeting". Like guys, we are spending the monday meeting scheduling the rest of the weeks meetings.
