Question Iconic Characters

Post image

So I was trying to create an oc fitting in the world of Bleach, but I feel like my silhouettes are held back.. How can I push them further to fit close to Tite Kubo's style? (Feel free to lay down some exercises I can do as well, if you have some suggestions that I can do). As for the poses I invented, it's guaranteed that there would be several mistakes here and there.

Personally, I think the outfits are on point, I could totally see these two as side members of the 13 guard squads. Though if your looking for a little more to push then further: it wouldn’t hurt to do a few master studies of kubo’s characters, maybe analyze what shapes he uses (sharp/round) or maybe how proportions on his figures tend to look.

Although from pure observations on my part. I think kubo’s style is really made by the faces of his characters. He doesn’t really do anything too crazy with his character’s figures unless they’re hollows (although I’d say his figures are a bit longer than most animes). But it’s mostly how he draws faces that makes his style recognizable.

Alternatively, you could also see how you feel after youve gotten a little far in the process (details/inking/coloring) as that can contribute a lot to a style as well. I hope my reply is understandable and actionable for you. lord knows I receive tons of vague/unhelpful replies so I hope I’m not one of those people.
